Congatulations Les! Can I ask what sort of price point the one that sold was? I remember you said you were going to try out various prices to see how they went. I've been uploading for several months now -with everything at a flat 10 price. So far, just the one sale -in my first couple of weeks of uploading. I see that a lot of people are pricing their images really low making mine look "expensive"! There isn't a bulk price change facility yet, otherwise I might try a few experiments on pricing. Continuing the abandoned ship metaphor, are we thinking more the Marie Celeste or the Titanic? Both seem to be appropriate metaphors to me.
Perhaps the Costa Concordia, which the captain deliberately drove too close to the rocks in the mistaken assumption that he could get out of the situation he was getting everybody into. Then he tried to run away when the thing started sinking.
Speaking of which, it strikes me as odd that the mysterious Rebecca Rockafellar no longer seems to mention iStock in her job title. Everywhere I look she refers to herself as Getty Images' senior VP of e-commerce. It's as if iStock has ceased to exist as an independent entity .... is that something to do with "istock 'from Getty Images' "? Is it just one more GI collection, like Photographers' Choice?
Didn't someone discover that RR had been replaced, quite some time ago, by another woman, though it was never officially announced?

There's no connection to 123rf at all (that I can find). If you look at the contributor guidelines it's just a regular site (based in London) that contributors upload to once approved (you have to submit three sample images). The up side is that you can set your own rates and get 70% commission on sales. The down side (for some, including me) is that the small size images are available for free.
Contributors there presumably figure that enough buyers will trade up to the larger (paid) sizes to outweigh the free small ones. Much like donating images to the free sections of micro sites in the hope that buyers follow through to your paid portfolio. Regards, David.

No I didn't know! That was interesting if I care to upload something new, because I've been rotating things in and out, like some other people, by deleting and filling the holes.
In case anyone doesn't know - the free account limits you to 25 images for sale at any one time. There is no limit to the amount of images you can upload. I assume you can change which 25 are for sale when you like (I never actually found this out as I upgraded to a paid account when I hit 25 uploads). In other words, you do not need to delete anything if you want to put new images up for sale. Regards, David.
Like I said, it was an assumption you could do that which I never got to put to the test. There may be an easier way to switch images on the free account (which I don't see anymore) but just did some digging in the forums there and found a thread saying that if you hit edit on an image and make all your "mark up" boxes blank the image is removed from sale -thus presumably freeing up a slot for a new image. Reverse the process anytime if you want to. Regards, David.

Yes they were sent on Amazon before I deleted them!
I have there free account from last month, just to see how is going there... So I delete photos to upload new because space is limited

It's a start up. They only take exclusive images/video. Base prices start at $150.00 (good luck with that one). Oh, they can charge you "storage fees" if you don't sell enough. Couldn't judge the images as none of my searches returned any results. I rather suspect nobody here is likely to be trying them  Regards, David.

All good with the revised guidelines themselves. Just a tad unfourtunate that I chose yesterday to publish a blog article on how to style editorial captions for the various sites. Llandudno Wales August 7, 2013: Vintage Holiday Coach
Seaside coach on the Great Orme road, Llandudno North Wales with driver giving a guided tour via a microphone to passengers on the coach who are looking out at the view out to sea.
Why not just do it in the proper format - as in the links I posted, instead of trying to do it your own way ?
And - I think you could probably write a better caption than that too. If you are going to bother. Aim for two sentences with no repetition.
If it's a "vintage" coach, why not use a second sentence to tell us something about it. What make is it? When was it built? Who operates the tours? How long have they been doing it? Usually a quick Google search will bring up whatever you need for the caption. Regards, David.

^^^^^Just to add - PhotoShot is a British based group that has been buying up a whole bunch of traditional style stock agencies for years now. Other collections in the group include Retna, The Travel Library, UPPA (Universal Pictorial Press), LFI (London Features International), Bruce Coleman collection etc - so if you ever worked with any of those your images will now be under the PhotoShot umbrella. Takes me back a few years seeing those names again Regards, David.

I'm sure you need not worry about that because you did it for the best of reasons. That said, the better way is to upload new versions with a note to the reviewer -saying you will delete the previous uploads on approval of the new version. Regards, David.

my only concern, which I have been discussing with Benji is regarding submitting RM content (from Alamy, not exclusive) at PicFair, need to understand if that is 100% safe or not
I wouldn't know the answer Luis as I'm not on Alamy myself (unless Yay have finally got around to shipping my images over under their year old partner deal -lol). I expect some of the Alamites here could help -or why not just email support at Alamy to be sure there are no issues? Kind regards, David.

How do you delete individual images from yay images?
Go to My Account then Portfolio. Click on the image you want to delete and there will be Edit/Delete symbols on the bottom left. There will be a double check message asking if you are sure -then it's done. It can take some hours for it to actually be no longer visible in your port. Regards, David.

OK, well I signed up yesterday and now have twenty or so images up -all priced at 10 so I'll see how that goes. For anyone interested I wrote a blog post (link below -the photo one not the travel one!) about my initial experience with the site. There's some detailed comment from Benji at the end concerning the points I raised in my post. Worth mentioning here though is that it is not just Editorial licenses being offered (as some have said in this thread) -various commercial uses are also allowed, which I hadn't realised. I'm trying to figure out the license... Picfair's license is for one use only, not quite RF... does this mean I can upload my Alamy "L" images...
I was wondering about the license to and just emailed Benji asking if it was an issue uploading images that are RF on the other sites. What are you guys doing? Just uploading your normal microstock (RF) images? Regards, David.

I sent them e-mail reminding that what they told me to use x in portfolio to delete images does not exist (not Chrome, not IE).
They didn't answer anymore. I sent again a request to delete images. They really loosing face.
Just checked in both IE9 and Chrome - the delete facility for individual images is still there. Logged in (obviously) click on My Account then My Portfolio then click on the image you wish to delete. Bottom left of the image are two small icons -a pen icon for editing and an X icon to delete. Hope that helps. Regards, David.

You expect DT sales every day ! A couple a month for me if lucky. In fact, my balance is hanging annoyingly at $99.46 so I won't be able to draw the money off for another month if I get no sales for the rest of September. DT are dire for me and I am adding more images all the time.
Herg, they don't work on a monthly payment system. You can request payment as soon as you hit the magic $100 (and then usually get it within a few days, in my experience). Good luck, I'm sure you'll hit payout very soon! Regards, David.
