« on: November 23, 2008, 20:47 »
Im somewhere around that mark with something less than 3000 images , added 1000 new ones in the last few weeks but my downloads number didn't change , maybe even it went down.

cheers for that ldambies, a quick search of msgroup reveals all.

reveals what ?

Is there a possibility that not all of your Fotolia images are not there ? I see only about 1/4 of my Fotolia portfolio there.

If you are Fotolia member you have to sell your images on picmac as well , so maybe if one already has to be there ,
if that one uploads his portfolio directly there , the share from sales would be divided in 2 parts not in 3 isnt it so ?

And last , if their keywording system is good , maybe one could send first batches there , get his images keyworded ,
and concentrate more on the shooting new stuff , and later use those keywords.

I just sent them 4 images few days ago and I passed the test so I think I will spend some time building a portfolio there from now on.

But I'm still a bit confused with few things there like..

I do my keywording before uploading ,so when my keywords show up in editing  and I decide which are the most important ones , should I delete those same keywords from the less important field or should I leave them there too ?

Is there a link to your gallery or to your pseudonym gallery or something like on micros cause I just cant find something like that ?

Thanks

Now I remember speaking of them as Fotolia affiliates.

So I was wondering , if people with portfolio on Fotolia already have their work there , wouldn't it be a smart move and join them directly , maybe even avoid too much uploading as they already have large parts of our Fotolia portfolios ?

Actually Canstockphoto has had a keywording tool for years.

I have loaded photos on pixmac and cannot work out how to add the keywords or select auto keywords. the page just sits there for me.

Well the fact that Canstockphoto has  a keywording tool is a bit different then when you send Images with title and place where they were taken and someone does keywording and categorization for you
and for free , at leas from my point of view.

Im not a member there so I dont know ( and I wonder) if they do a good job or they just throw 4-5 keywords , but they have my hat down for that move.

But seeing that you are not so perfect at keywording :) , your posts are too arrogant , especially the comment about the that persons income on Alamy.

Obviously you missed the point that 100% approvals at a site where you may make less than the site with 50% approvals may not be so great.  That's what I was bringing up.

You were not here complaining about a specific rejection, as hrhportia was, so there was no need to go trying to critique you ?

I was not complaining about any rejection at all.

I know that you were not complaining about rejections thats what I wrote , I was trying to say that , you were too rude to a person , at least for my taste.

I wasnt complaining either but since I joined the party , I will try to explain my point of view.

I had some reviews that I dont agree with , and whit beeing strict like that , they can easily remove half of my images as well as yours for bad keywords, not like those vectors of yours which were clearly a mistake , but for example "waiting" thats used in your Cinema billboard image etc , or the fact that I cant use "background" or "abstract"on my grunge textures etc.

There is a fact that there are some people that are trying to manipulate that " easy on trigger reviews" and complain without valid ground , there is just a matter what you find acceptable and what I find acceptable , but I dont think there is a reason for clapping someone If you dont agree with him on a doubtful matter like that harp and number one is.

Anyway I went over the line too with posting in the way I did , and Im sorry , Im having few bad days generally so the best thing I can do is stay away from conversations cause I pick myself conflict easily.

Hope you understand what I was pointing at.

By the way , "just to feed your ego"  ;), thats one great portfolio you have

Well sorry sjlocke

Well if you like, you can start at your own backyard

Unfortunately, I was not here complaining about a specific rejection, as hrhportia was, so there was no need to go trying to critique me.  Nevertheless, "vector" would be an inappropriate keyword, and must have snuck by when I was cleaning out the auto-DAing on my two thousand files.  So thanks so much.

I also did not say anything about sainthood.  I commented that you can not automatically agree with people's assessment of keyword removals without seeing the image.  98% of the people complaining about iStock keywording turn out to be wrong.

Speaking of images, how about a link to your images so we can see how hot you are?

Unfortunately, I was not here complaining too , even If I have good reasons to do so , and I think some times there is no need for keyword rejections , but reviewer just finds few words balancing on the edge
and presses the button. Sometimes they just pick few perfectly good words , so I had illustrations done with texture brushes rejected for grunge , scans of old paper rejected for "background" etc.

But seeing that you are not so perfect at keywording :) , your posts are too arrogant , especially the comment about the that persons income on Alamy.

Its not about that..

I agree that there are many complaints that are not on valid ground , but that's not the reason to attack a person in his income direction , and show your big fat muscles there.

You want to see "how hot am I ?

Here you go ,feed your ego .....

I hesitate to comment on any keywording 'mistake' without first seeing the image in question.

Here you go

Well if you like, you can start at your own backyard , and comment whats keyword "vector" doing there , and I just scratched the surface with 2 random files on your portfolios first page.

So if there is part of the harp , its not ok to use it ,but its ok to use vector on 3D renders ?

I'm not a saint either , but I don't pretend to be one.

Well I just tried it out for few hours and :

Thing I miss or I couldn't figure them out ,  or I think would make it more useful than now

Alphabetical sort for keywords - almost a must for me

I would like to see copy IPTC data in a click option ( I mean right clicking the thumb , copy data , shift clicking multiple thumbs and pasting whole image info) , rather than exporting text files or adding similar images and browsing folders etc.

Working in multiple windows ( like in bridge ) would make my workflow way more simple.

And stats for several sites are not accurate or have data missing.

Once again I spent just few hours with it so maybe I couldn't find some options that are possibly there

I wonder what happens to the earnings of a portfolio that is deleted.  The earnings should go to the original creator of the content...

I agree with this sentiment.

I would hope that those artists that have their images stolen and sold, would be given the earnings that are seized.

I would also hope that the buyers would be reimbursed and notified that they cannot use some of the images that they purchased (e.g., the Peanuts characters discussed above).  If the original artist was compensated for the sale, then (I would think) that the buyer should be able to use the image (since it is now a legitimate sale) and this is a compelling reason for the stock agencies to transfer the funds that they have seized.

This brings up a good question:

Lizard (and any others that have had their images stolen):

Have any of you been reimbursed for stolen images (by the stock agencies)?

You know what is funny , he got that image from flickr probably , cause some kid got it somewhere and put a small resolution there few months ago , and it was quite popular there if I may add ;D.

Anyway he resided the image from about 300 pix longest to about 3000 and it got accepted on Fotolia recently , it was totally blurry , total crap quality , Im ready to bet that reviewer didn't even checked that image in a size larger than thumbnail cause a blind man can see that.

Probably those cartoons went in the same way.

About your question , the answer is no , but it wasn't sold a single time

Here is a photoshop tutorial done by Bob - the only one I could find so far.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8lTH-UAWts

He had so many more, but he was constantly changing around his website.  If anyone finds any of this other tutorials online, maybe we should start a thread and link them all in.

It's nice to be able to hear his voice one last time.

I was just looking few of them few minutes ago for the same reason , there are quite few working links in this forum.

Im truly sad .  Only thing you could do to annoy me  beside posting stupid posts every few minutes, that I just had to read , is to stop posting for good. And you did it again. From one end to another , like always.

So , YOU SUCK really really bad on iStock, and your user name is vacuum , well , some things will definitely SUCK without you , and my user name is Lizard.

I hope you had a good life  , and rest in peace  MIZ , many people here will remember you.

Wendy , my condolences to you and to all your family .

Draw a white  spiky circle in a separate layer , and blur it out. Try with few irregular ones one over another with reduced layer opacity and play with blending options  ,but  I think normal mod will work here.

If it doesnt look too good try adding a layer mask , and use a radial gradient on it , so you will get fading effect.

You can save it as psd so you will be able to use it again without having to draw every time .
