BME on IS, other than that pretty average.

Yeah, that part was surprising. How many stock pictures are taken before 2000?

78
Hm, it would be hard to imagine hat BigStock would make more than StockXpert, FT, or DT. StockXpert is still doing pretty well. In any case, I hope they ALL try to get as many new buyers and sales as possible :)

Mostphotos.com / New minimum resolution - 5 MP
« on: September 29, 2009, 10:44 »
I was uploading one file using FTP. When I saw that the file was not available for publishing on MostPhotos, I used HTML upload, only to get this error in the end:

"The image does not fullfill the minimum resolution requirement of 5MPX."

So it happened, I got a rejection from MP :D

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock wants bug/error reports for 50 credits
« on: September 28, 2009, 20:09 »
Maybe this is a chance I FINALLY get a payout?  ;D
That's what I thought too :D

82
I'm sorry about your rejection! If I may suggest, before next application, try posting your images on the IS forum, or get someone to do it for you. It helped me with my application.

Print on Demand Forum / Re: The use of microstock SL in Zazzle
« on: September 28, 2009, 16:30 »
You're perfectly right, Adelaide. I believe it is Zazzle who should make this very clear to its contributors. Right now I don't think they provide much guidance when it comes to proper licensing.

BTW, congratulations on your sales :)

Site Related / Re: Help Firefox
« on: September 28, 2009, 16:27 »
Personally I like to keep my passwords stored, but if you're using a shared computer or other people have access to your machine, you can just create a bookmark to:

chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul

Visit that whenever you want to remove your passwords...
Then hit the "Remove All" button on the bottom left.

There are a lot of these chrome:// urls in firefox, you can find out more here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Chrome_URLs

Thanks for posting this info! I put this link into my (Firefox) bookmarks. :)

Crestock.com / Crestock wants bug/error reports for 50 credits
« on: September 28, 2009, 16:04 »
This is what I got from Crestock a few minutes ago:

"Some of you may have noticed that little orange triangle in the lower right corner at Crestock saying "Give Feedback". This is basically a feedback form that we've been running for a few days to get ideas on where to improve the site to make it even better for you.

Unfortunately, aside from a lot of praise and constructive criticism, we've received some feedback with bug reports some are being repeatedly logged out, some have problems when paying for Credits or Subscriptions, while others again receive totally different error messages.

It is unacceptable for us to have annoying things like that going on, so if you experience any kind of technical problem on Crestock, please do let us know so we can fix it.

Here's how:
1) Send an email to: [email protected] (please do not use the orange feedback form)

2) Please include as much of this information as possible:

    * What did you do when you experienced problems?
    * The URL on which you experienced the problem
    * What Error Message did you get (if any)?
    * Browser & version
    * Operating System
    * Cookies Enabled? (Yes/No)

3) If possible, also include a screenshot of what happened.

Anyone who sends us an Error Message or Bug Report will receive 50 Image Credits on their account if you include your Crestock user name in the report.

Thanks in advance from Geir Are Jensen and the rest of the Crestock Team!"

Alamy.com / Re: I want to join ALAMY, but it is exclusive?

Anyone who still thinks it is unethical to sell micro images on Alamy is caught in some sort of time warp where they think it is 2005.
Thank you for your insight Lisa! I already have some of my RF images online on Alamy but I mentioned ethical issues as it was discussed on this forum a few times.  In a way, I'm glad my line of thinking is not out of the way with reality. :)

Alamy.com / Re: I want to join ALAMY, but it is exclusive?
« on: September 27, 2009, 21:52 »
You can't sell rights managed ("Licensed") images on Alamy that are sold as royalty free images elsewhere. You can legally sell non-exclusive royalty free images there, although many people consider it unethical due to huge differences in prices between Alamy and microstock sites.

As I know, you don't paying to have account but you are paying for using card, Mastercard,Visa, Maestro etc....
There are no fees for just using the card, unless it's an international transaction. Actually, as I have a bad habit of carrying very little cash, I end up using my card even for very small charges like buying a coffee or bread.

I agree that a dollar can buy you more in the US than almost anywhere in Europe, especially when it comes to everyday expenses. It is only housing that makes total cost of living pretty high in some parts of the US.

Software - General / Re: What is the best IPTC these days?
« on: September 27, 2009, 21:34 »
I'm using PS CS4 but it's not working for IS. I'm looking for another alternative and not Deep Meta as I would like to use it for all sites.
Cathy, what is not working for you in PS CS4 for IS? For me, it's only disambiguation that I have to do in DeepMeta. If I use all the keywords from IS CV, I could do without that but I can't blame that on PS CS4.

91
I'm not sure, but I'm also amazed how can anyone find my product when there are more than 20 billion of products there already :)

92
I like the last version of the picture. You are probably right concerning its eyes. However, the reviewer of your application would have to be aware of that too. If you decide to go with it, I would suggest to decrease its size to the minimum (1200 pixels on shorter side).

93
Also you pay monthly or yearly account and card in every other bank, right...
Actually, there are free checking and savings accounts in the US. They may have fees if you perform certain transactions (like international wire transfer), but they dont charge for just having an account.

Has anyone observed any increase in sales at BigStock after this announcement?  Some people in their forum have, but I have'nt sold anything in the past days.  :-\
No, no sales for me since the announcement - certainly could do with a boost!
I have a better than average month so far but no sales since the announcement.

yeah, well that is one solution I considered (and perhaps am still considering).  There would probably be a international bank transfer fee though to get it to Norway.  If I can get US funds out of money bookers and into a Norwegian bank US$ account then I think that will be simplest.
For bigger amounts, an international wire transfer fee might be less than what MB or PP would charge. My US bank charges $40 for international wire transfer. I think that's less than some $100+ amounts people have calculated for MB or PP.

PicNiche Toolbar / Re: If you use Firefox Browser... try PicNiche
« on: September 25, 2009, 15:09 »
The toolbar is in the public nomination queue again (sadly it's a big addon and it's a massive queue) awaiting approval for automatic updates (it might get approved a little faster if everyone adds a review to that mozilla page), though in the meantime you should update your version manually from time to time :)

Thanks for the update. Until your add-on gets approved, it might be a good idea to let us know of any updates or improvements in this forum. Thank you for all the hard work!
