Veer / Re: 9 sales today at Veer
« on: February 22, 2010, 22:58 »
10 sales today, mostly 3.50.  Could it be that these are "old" sales that are only showing up now?  If not, it sounds too good to be true.  Although I hope not, of course. :)

Yes, it's working again.  My files are uploading as we "speak".

That's the same thing that happened to me.  I guess it must be down then.  Thanks for letting me know.

Dreamstime.com / Dreamstime uploads down?
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:20 »
Hi everyone,

I am trying to upload some new files to Dreamstime.  I can log in, but when I try to use my FTP program or the site's own upload functionality, I am unable to get a connection to their upload server.  Is it just me, or is their upload functionality down at the moment?

Done.  By the way, love your fantasy work.  Reminds me of Lord of the Rings. :)

Sorry, my bad.  The detailed sales information says it was Subscription XXL.  So I guess they downloaded the XXL jpg version of the vector.

33
I just had my first Premium Subscription sale too: 0.35 for a vector illustration.  Now if the number of sales makes up for the low prices...  I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Yes, you can use the Clear Speelite Settings option to reset the speedlite.  It should then be reset to factory defaults, clearing any custom settings you have applied.  For clearing the settings, I don't think it makes a difference whether the flash mode is set to manual or ETTL-II.  But if one does not work, try the other.

When taking photos, which settings you want to use really depends on what you want to do.  I am by no means a flash expert, but I recognized your problem all too well.  I have been using my flash mainly as a fill flash (ETTL setting, full auto) and for photographing water drops.  In the latter case, I set the flash to manual, and reduce its output power.

The only other advice I can give you, is to read the manual. ;)  There might be people on this forum with more experience who can give you further advice.  What I usually do, is determine what I want to use the flash for.  Then I try to find the right section in the manual (just make sure you have glanced through the whole manual at least once, so you have at least some idea what it can do).  If I can't find it in the manual, Google is usually my best friend.  There are a lot of tutorials on the web.

Hope this helps.

Hi, this doesn't sound like anything you need to be too worried about, yet.  I have a different Canon EOS model (50D) and different flash (550EX), but also managed to screw up the settings a couple of times when I didn't really know yet what I was doing. :)

The easiest way to fix this, would be to check your camera's manual to figure out if there is a reset flash menu item.  Fortunately, the 50D does.  I don't know about your camera though.  If your camera does not have such a menu option, maybe you know someone who does, and who would be willing to reset it for you?

If neither is the case, I suspect you may have set the flash's mode to manual and may have reduced its output to just a fraction of what it is capable of.  Since I am not familiar with the exact specifications of your flash, you will have to check out the flash's manual.  I am assuming that it does let you set it to manual mode and adjust its output.  In that case, the manual should contain a manual mode section that describes how to change the output "level".

Please let us know if you managed to solve the problem.  If not, there may be someone on this forum who has more experience with your particular flash model.

Veer / Re: Approved images missing on dashboard page
« on: June 26, 2009, 15:01 »
Thanks for the quick response.  Good to hear that the images are probably still there.  Maybe approved images are updated using some kind of batch process and the actual files are a little behind on the image data.  I did send a message to contributor support, as I thought they might want to look into it.  Not too worried yet, though, I was just curious if it was just me. :)

Veer / Approved images missing on dashboard page
« on: June 26, 2009, 14:47 »
Hi,

I just noticed that my approved images are not displayed on the dashboard page.  All images are listed, with their descriptions, keyswords and everything.  But the images themselvers are displayed as those wellknown red crosses you see when an image cannot be found.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Veer / Re: Veer Marketplace Opens for Submissions!
« on: June 26, 2009, 13:43 »
I'm happy to say I got all 10 photos approved on my first attempt.  In case this might help other people who are trying to get in:  I decided to submit some of my best selling photos on other sites, all very different subjects.  I was hoping that might help me show them I could do different kinds of things.  At the same time, I thought it might help spread the risk a little.  For instance, if they didn't like flowers, there would also be isolated objects (on black, on white, etc).  This strategy seems to have worked. :)

Additional information I forgot to mention earlier: approval took about a week.  I uploaded my photos last weekend, if I remember correctly.  So I think the queue for new contributors is about 6-7 days at the moment.

They want me to upload my portfolio to istock? It is insane! iStock 'don't need' my vectors in contrary of hundreds of sales I am having on JUI/Photos.com!
...
Same thing here.  I have had lots of vector sales on StockXpert, many of them through those two subscription sites.  IStock has not accepted me as a vector artist yet.  I like to use relatively simple shapes in most of my vectors, and IStock just isn't looking for those kinds of illustrations.  Even though some of them sell very well at other agencies...

Done.  I'll give this another try with my first 3D render.  It's not a very complicating one yet, but hey, it's the first one I dared to submit...

General Stock Discussion / Re: November 2008 earnings breakdown
« on: December 01, 2008, 02:11 »
Here are my numbers:

ShutterStock: 34.76 %
Dreamstime: 24.15 % (BME)
StockXpert: 14.63 % (BME)
FeaturePics: 8.75 % (BME)
IStockPhoto: 5.22 %
Fotolia: 3.84 %
BigStockPhoto: 2.69 %
CanStockPhoto: 2.69 % (BME)
123RF: 1.94%
Crestock: 1.34 %
CutCaster: 0%

BME in total amount of Dollars earned this month.  Dreamstime appeared to improve a lot after I reached the number of 100 images online, but it might be a coincidence.  FeaturePics was a big surprise this month, and ended up in fourth place for me.  On the other hand, IStockPhoto, Fotolia and BigStockPhoto were disappointing.

123RF / Re: How are things at 123?
« on: November 20, 2008, 11:58 »
This month, I have already sold more images there than ever before.  Unfortunately, they're all subs, and I doubt that it will even be a BME unless I sell one or two non-subs in the next 10 days.

General Stock Discussion / Re: October 2008 earnings breakdown
« on: November 01, 2008, 04:53 »
Here is my month in percentages:

ShutterStock: 48.80 %
IStockPhoto: 13.11 % - BME
BigStockPhoto: 11.67 % - BME
StockXpert: 11.05 %
Dreamstime: 6.67%
FeaturePics: 3.81 % - BME
Fotolia: 2.01 %
Crestock: 1.94 %
123RF: 1.34 %
CanStockPhoto: 0%
Cutcaster: 0%

Dreamstime and Fotolia have not been this bad since the first two months after I joined them!  All in all, I earned about 10 dollars more in September than I did this month, and it is my second best month ever (I only started in May this year).

Crestock.com / Re: Review times at Crestock slowing down?
« on: October 27, 2008, 06:59 »
I have an illustration that is Christmas / winter related, that has been in the queue for I don't even remember how long.  At least a month, though.  If it stays there much longer, there won't be any sales for this one either.  At least not this year.  I really like the way the Crestock uploading process works, but the long review times are really disappointing.  I hope Crestock can sort this out.

StockXpert.com / Re: Any Photos.com Sales lately?
« on: October 21, 2008, 06:01 »
I have had very few sales with them this month.  Nothing at the beginning of the month, and about 4 sales in total for this month.  Very different from last month, when I had a sale about every other day.   Since there are so many of us who are experiencing this and it is such a sudden drop, I can't image that it's the quality of our images.

I guess there could be a problem with tracking our sales (sales not showing up), or a problem that is causing customers so many problems that they are hardly buying anything.  I believe that StockXpert would not intentionally cheat their contributors out of the money they have earned, but it could be a glitch in the software.  If not, there must be something that is discouraging the customers from buying images.

I hope everything will get back to normal soon.  I haven't been with StockXpert for a very long time yet, and was just starting to like them.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Sutterstock Super Fast reviews!!
« on: October 20, 2008, 02:49 »
I haven't noticed a change in the number of rejections lately.  However, I have noticed a decrease in the number of downloads as well.  I haven't been with SS for very long, but I had several days of double digits downloads (some even more than 20) in August, which was supposed to be a slow month.  This month, I haven't had more than 14 downloads in one day, even though I have been uploading a few new illustrations and photos each week.

I'm glad to see it's not just me.
