Hi, I got an email on my IS account today, I wasn't sure, so I forward to IS customer service for inquiry, they have not responded yet, what do you guys think, have you receive something like this before? How should I respond?

"Good afternoon!,

I purchased a high-resolution version of the your Fall Colors image for use on a postcard to promote my company.

I would like to place a low-res version of it on my site accessible to a few selected customers so that if they like the image from my postcard, they can download it for use as a screensaver for the fall season. It will only be available for a couple of months. If you would like I can credit you and/or add a link to you.

Would this be Ok with you?

Thanks for a lovely image and have a great day!"

General Stock Discussion / Re: Top Producing Site (Take II)

Thanks again for all your input, those are very helpful.

Actually I got a batch of 168 approved 163 with similar subjects, so the 500 should be approved relatively easy, maybe I need to pace myself, so not to overwhelm one subject, besides they are not selling well compared with others due to editorial nature.

Most people seems to believe that SS are doing better than the others, for me, 8 days with 232 DL and 329 files certainly is very impressive, I am able to get large batch up and running in no time thanks to it's generous uploading limit,

Now my question is I have 500 pictures to upload, shall I do 50/week to make it consistently adding new pictures or shall I upload all of them the sooner the better.? ( since if you stop upload for a while, your sales will go down according to most of your experiece)

Thanks for your valuable input, Phildate, I see your image all the time at various agency's website :)

so i guess i need to be patient to slowly build up the portfolio, thanks.

Well everyone seems to say that IS give the best payout, but it's not in my book:

I started DT, FT and IS the same time, now I have 191 at DT, 189 at FT, but only 50 files at IS thanks to it's high rejection rate and 30/week limit,  up to now, I have 99DL at DT, 59DL at FT, but only 20DL at IS, and because of it's low percentage, the actual earnings are way less, I am totally dissapointed on this.

In the meantime, SS give me 129 DL in 4 days after joining for 4 days( i have 315 files on line within one week ), on top of that, I had my first Extended License Sale there as well, so IS is no match for SS or DT.

General Stock Discussion / Re: DT sales slow
« on: August 22, 2006, 12:37 »
Well only online with DT and IS for less than 1 month, my DT (189 files, 88dl) in one month earned lot more than IS, IS only got 38 files, 17dl in 20 days ( thanks for the slow upload process and massive rejection compared with 71% acceptance at DT, which enable me to get my portfolio up and running way ahead of IS )
I started on FT the same time as DT, and with almost same files on line (185), but with only 47 downloads, and less per download vs DT, so DT's earning in the same period vs FT is three times better.

On the other hand, I finally got approved by SS, with 83 files online for 2 days, I already got 54dl, looks really promising, it should pass FT easily.

Really seems odd for me, the last 7 days I only have 2 dl, while the previous 7 days I have 11dl, on top of that I just added 60 last week, did not get any boost, but there is no views for my new 60 images :'(

On the other hand I am extremely happy with DT, the same time period I have 17 dl, while still waiting for the batch of 60 to be approved by DT ( 60 less than FT )

After I complained, finally I got a sale after three days of blank :)

Anyway comparing with DT, FT is less than 1/3 earnings with similar portfolio.

Yes, they are the fastest to approve images right now, but there is no viewerships for images up online for 3 days, my batch of 60 approved and online but no views :'(, and no sales :'(

The last 4 days I have no sales from FT, the newly added 60 files after 3 days have no viewerships, while in the meantime the same files I got 3-5 downloads everyday from DT, anyone experience a slowdown in FT or it's just me? thanks.

StockXpert.com / Re: How is StockXpert doing for you?
« on: August 10, 2006, 11:36 »
I am totally pissed off by StockXpert, my initial 5 images I send in ( which were all accepted by IS, DT and FT, ), StockXpert rejected 4 out of 5, and then goes on saying : " please submit better quality images"

So now I have only one image at StockXpert, and I am not sending any more to them, it seems just waste of time, of course if they sell a lot on my only one, I may consider to add more.

Got 63 views but no comments?

Maybe everyone else already figure it out how to find how your images are being used, i only had luck with FT where they show you the name of the buyer, all the other sites did not give out the buyer's identity, so very hard to trace your image, anybody else have any luck?

Probably most of you already know that in FT, there is a section called credit details, where you can click and find out who bought your image, yesterday i found out one of my least favorite image was used in a French Newsletter, too bad it's a PDF file, I can not show here, but here is the link:
http://www.petites-affiches-64.com/page1.pdf
the i van against Mount St Helens is my picture.

How do you find out other sites, I understand most sites don't give you the name of buyers, so for FT is a little strange, but goo to know who purchase your photos ;D

thanks,  that could be a better flow, sometimes, noise reduction tend to over done it, I had one photo rejected by Istock for overdone it, I have to go back to the original to restart the process. :)

Yes, from now on, I will totally change my workflow,

this is what I used to do:
 Raw converts to jpeg,
PS to fix minor issues, and save to jpeg and
go to Neat image to clean up noises if needed,
so I saved three times over Jpeg, thus degrading the quality a little over the course.

Now I plan to do:
 Raw concerts to Tiff, and
go to PS to fix minor issues as needed, save to Tiff and then
go to Neat Image for noise clean up, and then save to Jpeg.

Anybody else has any good efficient workflow?

Ever since I jumped into the microstock business since 3 weeks ago, I got 70 approved at FT, 11 sales, 66 approved at DT, 11 sales but double the money, 18 approved at BSK, 2 sales, only 15 approved at Istock with no sales. ( with 3 5 star reviews )

The last batch of interior of a luxury house selling so well at FT and DT, but Istock cannot tolorete any artifacts and noise, I have to use some curves to bring up the dark area a little, then use neat image to clean it up, I guess I saved a few times along the way, casuing jpeg artifacts to show at 100% ( you have to check carefully ).

I guess I have to reprocess all the originals, trying to eliminate any possible artifacts, but it's hard for shots done in doors under dim light:(

Anybody else feel the pain as I do, no sales, but rejections?

Dreamstime.com / Re: Exclusive Agreement
« on: July 29, 2006, 03:02 »
Yes, from what I read, if u become an exclusive for DT, you get 20cents for every accepted upload, and 60% payout, that's why the guy who only has 1200 images by going exclusive, but managed to have 89000 download in 16 months, so I suspect DT will put his images in the front of the search result or something.

122
Dreamstime.com / Exclusive Agreement
« on: July 28, 2006, 17:21 »
I noticed on this board, most of you submit to 3-8 different sites, which add lots of additional work for the same image, of course the arguement is that you get the payout 3-8 times better than with one site.

However I found out that by going exclusive with DT, you get 20 cents per image accepted, plus 10% more commision, one top guy who has 89000 downloads in 1 1/2 years only have 1200 images, each image average download 75 times, so does the website actally promote their own better than non exclusive contributors?

So if you get 20 cents more per upload, 10% more commission plus extra help in showcase your portfolio, you would have made more money spending less time keying keyword by using one site, does that make sense?

DT is awesome, after approved for less than 12 hours for 70 images, I already have $5.5 in sales, more than doubled FT's sales for two weeks:)

Yesterday I finally got my batch of 50 accepted at DT, now the total is 70, and this morning I already got 4 sales, earning me 3.5 better than FT with 2 weeks on line and 7 Downloads, but only 2.97.
So I like the $0.50 payout per download.
