Thanks, really I got very frustrated with BST, it took 14 days to reject all of my initial 12, while FT took them all, and IS took 5 out 6 ( i did not submit all to IS since the initial rejection from BST ), now have to wait another 14 days to wait for my second batch.
Maybe I will try Stockxpert or 123, which one is better?

Yes, Istock is really slow in getting the images approved, I only got 8 approved, still has 21 on the que, of course I only started exploring microstock since July 8th, joined DT,FT,  Istock,( was rejected the initial 3, then got accepted the next 8 out of 9 ), but rejected by SS(50%) and BST(100% rejection).

So far with 55 images at FT, 4 sales, 15 more pending
21 images with DT no sales 30 more pending
35 pending with BST, nothing approved yet
8 online with IS, 21 pending

Sure it takes a lot of patience to build up your portfolio.

It does make sense they FT is more liberal these days in order to be the first one to reach 1m, I guess from now on I just have to use Neat Image for all my photos.

I normally don't do much noise reduction unless it's over ISO400 or more, now I just purchased the Neat Image, plan to batch process all the files I submit to some of the sites.
Now with 2 weeks (2 sales) under my belt( 46 at FT, 7 at IStock, 20 at Dreamstime, 0 at BST, 0 at SS ), I found lots of inconsistencies in what are accepatable what are not, here is my take:

Overall FT is the easiest, whether noise, keyword or anything, I don't have any issues
DT is very picky at key words and category, I got a whole batch of 11 out 12 rejected due to that while FT accepted all
BST rejects everything I submitted, granted this was my first submit, some noise in some files, even though FT took 12 of 13 of the same batch
SS rejects 5 out 10, so it seems they are OK to work with, I just need to eliminate the noise before I resubmit after one month
Istock seems very strict, but after the initial 3 rejections, I got the next 7 approved, now I am waiting for the fate of the batch which was totally rejected by DT, shall I take them down, or wait for my luck?

anybody has similar experience or quite different stories? thanks

Yeah, after 0 out 11 from Bigstock, the first sale from FT is very delightful, and I just got another email from FT that my second sale came in, so it's a good day for me, at least I had two sales today, totally 0.99, probably the hardest 0.99 I ever earned in my life. :)

that was the first batch I submit to everyone, I guess the noise is an issue when viewed 100%, but somehow Shutterphoto accepted 5 of 10 and fotolia the first 12 out of 13, so that was not something I will expect from BigStock, besides it took them 12 days:(

Anyway thanks for the encourgement, maybe I will run every batch through neat image from now on.

so it's all about noise, some of them may have some noise when viewed 100%, but some are barely visible for any noise since photos were taken in good light, with good exposure at ISO200.

By the way I just got my first sale from FT after approval on July 11th with 42 images, Yeah!:)

I had the same feeling today.
Since I started joining Microstock on July 8th, I have 11 out of 11 approved from ( after the initial 3 rejected )Istock, 5 out of 10 from Shutterstock ( waiting for one month ), 42 out 60 approved at FT, and 11 out 13 out of Dreamstimes, but I got 0 out 11 approved by Bigstock?
is that normal? i am thinking Istock and shutterstock are the more retrict one, now bigstock rejects everything?

thanks for the advice, madelaide, as I am still trying to figure out the best way to add more pictures to my portfolio efficiently.

Started on July 8th,
Currently I only have 30 approved at FT, another 23 pending..( maybe this site grow too fast, I did not see any one has big viewerships or sales )
2 approved at Istock, 6 pending....( of the same first batch )
20 pending at DT....
35 pending at BSF... 11days later still no answer...

with very limited viewerships, ( almost none ), still looking for my first sale.....

Thanks for all the input, certainly good photos do sell themselves,  now my concern is that with over a million pictures ( pretty soon) on each site, it is very difficult to find your own, I have to search serval times to find mine, granted I only have 30 on FT, still pending on DT(6 days), BST(11days), and this morning got my first two accepted by Istock ( Yeah!), but the other 6 on the same batch still pending:(.

Anyway since most of you have done this for a while, how many key words do you put? I guess this becomes increasingly important since you want the buyers to find your images among millions of them? ( I only put 10, is it too little? could not think of too many)

I am a newbie in stock photo, just joined FT, DT, Image Vortex, Bigstock, now when I look at the top websites here, almost all of them started in less than a year, and lots of them last year this time almost no image bank to talk about, now 6 months later, the top 3 all close to 1m images, that's quite a growth!

Image 5 years from now, each will have a portfolio of over 5 million, and your 200 or 2000 images will totally bury in such a large collection of images, how do you expect to make the same amount of money you make right now, besides most of you here not really making any serious money anyway.

so this is just my concern, I don't like the idea of uploading a couple of thousand of images within a year or two, only find that I am making less and less over time.

Thanks for all your help, I did add the IPTC information on my pictures, but still they did not show up on Dreamstime, but at least they have the last 5 saved, so it helps a little, maybe they are not supporting IPTC?

Anyway I got reply back from SS that the 5 rejected actually were acceptable, of course the funny thing is that one acceptable one is very identical to one declined, ( taken at the same time, same lighting and different people )

One question for you though, I do have lots of parade pictures with no model releases, are they any good, or shall I only submit those as occasional, but not a big batch?

Since I got 5 approved by SS, shall I add more diversity to my photos when I submit next time, or stick with the ones get approved?

Thanks again.

I do use Nikon D100 at ISO200 most of the time possible. ( I can not go lower than that, maybe I need a D200)

I just figured out the ones they rejected, it all has the same rejection reasons, " Noise, artifacts or hazing at full size" and another 5 just rejection with no reasons, does that mean all rejected or just the 5 with reasons since I did not pass the 7 out 10, so the whole batch was rejected?

So I guess noise is a big deal with SS.

I like your idea of ITPC, I will download this and try it on all my images before submitting.

Thanks for the reponse.

I just got rejected today by SS, then I went to the website, I could not find any of my initial uploads, so I don't know which of the 5 is good, so that next time I add five more.

I guess most of my images are fine noise wise, it's all taken during daylight, maybe some I have turned up the shadow details causing some noise visible at 100% crop.

Now I guess I just keep my finger crossed for Istock ( could be a tough one if they also have noise free mentality ).

1000 images are a big number, the amount of time it took to upload and key in key words to different sites like a full time job, I don't know how much time u guys spend each week in doing stock photo? ( for people who have 1000 images or more )

Anyway this is all new to me, I have to wait and see what happens, certainly the 17 images at Image Vortex for 6 months really defeat everything:(

Hi, I am a newbie, I uploaded some pictures 6 month ago to Imagevortex (17), and never got a single sales( about 2-300 views for all images ), last week, I signed up with Fotolia, Shutterstock, Istock, bigstock, I submitted 13 pic to fotolia and get 12 approved, but the 10 I submitted to shutterstock got all rejected:
( I am still waiting to hear from Istock and Bigstock )

5 with reasons " noise at full size "
5 rejection with no reasons

My questions to you is:
1. does that mean I have 5 acceptable ones, or 10 are not acceptable?
2. Is Fotolia has far lower standard than Shtterstock?
3. If noise is a concern, ( very mini noise ) can I use noise ninju to clean it up and resubmit THREE MONTHS later?
4. Now the images have been dele from SS, how do I know which is good and which one is not acceptable?

thanks for your help.
( i started to wonder already " is $4 average per photo per year worth the trouble?"
