Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime FTP Problem
« on: August 20, 2010, 07:41 »
My images are going through fine on FTP but I can't get MR's to upload at all. I'm stuck with several images that I can't finish because the MR's have been uploaded but won't appear in my MR library.

123RF / How to see what's sold
« on: June 24, 2010, 10:40 »
I've been trying to sort this out but can't seem to. How do I see which images have sold on 123? I know how to find the stats about how much I make - I want to know which images are selling.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: I can't describe??????????
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:59 »

The new requirement for a description (and date) of the shoot was announced back in August 2009. It applies to all images taken after 1st September 2009. It shouldn't be a lottery, if your images are taken after that date and your model releae doesn't include a meaningful description then you ought to be getting a request for a new model release instead of an acceptance. Here's a link to the article announcing the new standards, and there is also a forum discussion linked in the article
http://www.istockphoto.com/article_view.php?ID=648

Prior to that they announced that a PO Box was an acceptable address but I still get rejections for having a PO Box in the address. Legally there is no reason to need the shoot description or shoot date on a release. In fact it can limit the release because if you take images of a 2 year old in a green dress and then the same child in a red dress you technically need 2 releases for that shoot. The same would be true if you have 3 people in a shoot. One release for when you have all 3 in a shot, one for when only 2 are in the image and one for when the person is alone.

I use a variation of the PPA's release and modified it to add the photographer information and a witness signature, as most RF sites have a requirement for this information.

Anything uploaded before you click the "promo" button doesn't count. I found that out the hard way when I uploaded 1/2 my port and then didn't get any credits for it. You also have to upload original content - not just more of what they already have.

My release doesn't include a space to describe the shoot. It's never been an issue before but last week 14 out of 15 images were rejected for "no description on the release." The 15th image was accepted. It really is just a lottery system when it comes to what they require on a release.

I seem to be having a love/hate with BigStock. Feb my dls doubled. March I have yet to have a sale. Very random.

« on: March 10, 2010, 10:12 »
I uploaded 135 images - only ones that have been accepted by other agencies. Of those 37 were rejected, leaving me 98 online. I should have $19.60 in my account but I only have .40 cents. That means that out of 98 images they are only giving me credit for 2. Anyone else getting short changed for their uploads?

I can't log in either. I was hoping that there would be some sort of info on it here. I get hung at the login screen.

Bigstock.com / Re: Increase in BigStock downloads lately?
« on: March 01, 2010, 15:39 »
Looking over my Feb. numbers BigStock and FT doubled in downloads. BigStock also doubled the previous month for royalties. With this they managed to knock DT down to 5th place.

I love the ease of their upload process but you do have to watch what your doing. If you click one of the small thumbs it automatically changes all your data to that of the clicked image - including assigned MR's.

« on: February 12, 2010, 14:26 »
I had a sale on Jan 5th but never got an email or notification. I happened to check my account in February and noticed it. With so few sales (1 a year) it would be nice if we could get an email option.

I tried to find the forum thread on their site and couldn't. The only post about it was from Chad stating that he appreciated everyone patience as the new commission and purchase incentive programs are rolled out.

I don't see the point in deleting images from a site unless there is a specific issue with the site or that image. That said I have no real reason to continue uploading to CC either. I've been here for over a year and have yet to get a sale. I currently have 335 images online and another 14 or so waiting to be edited. Some glitch removed the titles from the last batch of uploaded images so their sitting in the "pending" section.

I won't remove them but what's the motivation to continue uploading when after a year you still haven't sold anything?

I'm not surprised by any of these. Over all they did a really good job of describing what they meant. If you click on "example" under the word Apple you will see that it takes you to a page with an I Mac - so they were obviously talking about the computer company not the fruit.

What's going to be interesting is seeing how much more the list grows as they find other problem words and how they deal with the massive purge they will have to do to meet compliance.

I am not a tax expert...

US residents, citizens and people working for US companies have taxes withheld from their paychecks. This money is then forwarded on to the IRS as part of our income tax procedures. By law you will receive a W2 or 1099 by the end of January for the previous fiscal year. (Jan - Dec) This document will detail how much money has been withheld.

When you file your tax returns, due by April 15th, the IRS will cross check your stated income against what the company says they paid you and will determine if you owe more money or are due a refund. If you make under a certain dollar amount than the IRS will declare you do not owe taxes and will refund the money. Likewise if you can prove that the money should not have been held then you can submit forms to declare that and they will process them.

FT should not be keeping any of this money for themselves. It should be getting sent to the IRS. If they are not sending it then they are in violation of IRS laws.

The short version is that the money that is deducted should be going to the IRS and you will have to contact them to get it back. Monies held starting Jan. 1, 2010 will be applied towards perceived owed US income taxes that will be due April 15, 2011.

Roger's comment is in response to translucent members who are upset that they won't grandfathered. Exclusives will be grandfathered but non-exlcusives won't. Translucents who want to be exclusive but won't make it to 250 dls by the cut are supposed to contact IS directly and IS will decide if they grandfather them on a case by case basis.

How did you get them to forward your case? They keep rejecting my application and the only answer I can get is a standard "we don't handle that go to the tax center for more info or ask your accountant" I can't even talk to a person.

I got a response from FT about my issue. In a nutshell they can't help me please go to the tax center on the site for help. Unfortunately the only thing on the tax center is the ability to re-submit the form that has already been rejected twice. There is no help file or other information.

The email also said that I could hire an accountant to help me. I didn't have this problem when I filled out the form for SS.

I was doing it without the spaces but it didn't work. It may have to do with the address.

I'm having trouble with the w-9 form as well. I have a business license and an EIN number which I keep putting on the form but they have rejected my w-9 twice.
