One of my recent microstock project was dedicated to currencies and money and also to me happened that almost 30% of the submissions where refused because of the copyright issue.

Still, have a look on the lightbox made of the ones accepted to understand about iStock policy.

Bye!

Antonio

Di italiani... credo ce ne siano davvero pochi qui si MG, comunque...

preferisco sempre postare in inglese in modo da avere feedback pi ampi. Dopotutto la lingua comune l'inglese, no?  ;)

Ciao.

Dai portiamo un p di gente!

I get my iStock payments loaded into a Payooner card.
So far it is working fine, never had a problem.

About the fees those are the info got from their website (I  think are specifically relared to the contract iStock have in place with them):

Cheers,

Antonio

Computer Hardware / Re: Image storage options
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:14 »
1. Main storage location on my main workstation
2. weekly backup on an external HD, after sync stored it in a secure location (flood, bomb, earthquake proof - no joke)
3. weekly backup on a second external HD, after sync stored in a secure location, different place than #2.

Should be pretty safe...

bye!

I don't think there is anything crazy in that production: a digital large format camera plus few head flash lights. That deep of field of that 3G iPhones cover shot simply cannot be obtained without tilt/shift movements.

Scheimpflug is dead but his principle is still alive!

Cameras / Lenses / Re: What type of camera are you using?
« on: August 06, 2009, 16:29 »
Nikon D700 as main, D300 as backup.
Also a Canon G9 but 99,99% of the time taking dust in the cabinet, I tough was nice to have a quality P&S but really the images produced are NOT up to my personal IQ standards.

Mainstream lenses for 2009 shooting sessions are:
Nikkor 14-24 2.8
Nikkor 28-70 2.8
Nikkor 70-200 2.8
Nikkor 50 1.4 G
Nikkor 60 1.4 G
Nikkor Micro 105 2.8 G

That pretty much what I use today. Tomorrow nobody knows...

bye!

Hi Sean,

u are right, sorry for the mistake.

"slobo" is not an administrator, or moderator.  Just a contributor.

Completely agree on that!

they should buy it and make it to the official upload client of IS... and yes, they should employ Franky with a high enough salary.

As alternative I think they have enough financial and programming resources to develop a standalone sw tool for MAC/PC able to compute some basic analysis on your own portfolio performance.

iStockPhoto.com / Can't Upload with DeepMeta
« on: July 09, 2009, 03:52 »
Many colleagues are reporting failed uploads by DeepMeta and also on the official IS forum seems other people report the same.

The problematic thing is that administrator Slobo declared "I would say that support for third party software is far down on iStock's priority list. Besides, it kills the queue. So, from iStockphoto's perspective it only brings good, no need to rush.".

Is this meaning that we have to come back to the cumbersome and time-consuming web upload?
Is that a move by IS to clear the approval queue?

What do u think?

« on: July 03, 2009, 10:06 »
Agree with the others here: only time will tell if the Vetta Collection concept will be successful.

And if positive perhaps will foster the whole MS industry to create several exclusive collections.

Bye!

Hi arquiplay77,

I am from Italy and, as far as I know, the laws of our countries are pretty similar.
Here, when you start a part-time job or secondary business, you can decide how to manage the Social Insurance/Pension Scheme, meaning that you can pay it double (once for each activity) OR pay it only for your main job.
I cannot confirm but, perhaps also in Spain it is possible something similar. Try to ask to a private tax specialist or business consultant.

bye.

Many way to do this at once:

1. Adobe Photoshop Bridge CS3 or CS4
2. Any serious DAM (first import images > Select All > Remove Keyword > Embed into original files).

for #2 the sequence might differ from DAM to DAM but the concept is that.

bye!

iStockPhoto.com / My First Sale on Vetta
« on: June 30, 2009, 06:51 »
Today I had my first sales on Vetta (http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=4785946), 15,50USD in royalty.

Hope this represent the beginning of a nice sales series...

Personally only one, IS.

For you, if you really want to limits to the most popular among designers I would recommend, in order:

#1 IS
#2 SS
#3 DT
#4 FT
#5 StockXpert (here we need to see what strategy Getty's management decide to follow...)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Summer Slowdown
« on: June 30, 2009, 06:41 »
Kidding me with summer slowdown???

I have no practical explanation but usually July and August are two of the busiest months for my sales.

Perhaps this is linked to the particular kind of images that make up most part of my portfolio???

Slowdown is instead quite sensible on sales from RM agencies.

...yes Sean!

And also added localized search results, new icon (shiny golden camera) for Vetta images and restyled the "My Upload" section of Contributor.

Hope to start soon to sell what I have on Vetta!

Wish a Great Day to Everybody!

Sad but inevitably news...

I still keep the best of my film-times properly archived and filed in a dark room with dehumidifier always on.

The problem with the materials of the film-age is: where to store them without spending a fortune???

Cheers!
