I've got a week long trip to Torres del Paine National Park in Chile coming up in December and would like to have a nice ultra wide angle lens to take with me.

I've been looking at the newer Nikon 10-24 and it seems to have gotten some decent reviews but the ~$900 price tag is a bit lofty for a broke grad student such as myself.  Apparently the new tamron 10-24 is a cheeper but the quality coincides with the $450 price.

Does anyone have experience with any of the other wide angle lenses or the Nikon 10-24 that might be able to share some valuable advice?  What's going to be the best bang for the buck?

I'd prefer to spend less than $600 but am seriously thinking about the nikon.

I've uploaded a couple of illustrations and when the jpg preview shows there has been a color shift but only with certain images.  It seems brighter colors are uploading as a nauseating day glow color that makes me sea sick just to look at.  I'm working in RGB in illustrator and PS, and the files look fine in both.

I haven't been doing anything out of the normal in my work flow and upload methods but I have begun to use swatches from kuler.

I've had colors shift to a slightly duller tone before but not this, anyone know what's going on?  I'm guessing it has something to do with the swatches I'm using but one color of one swatch is affected in one jpg and not another.  

I'm on a PC running Vista BTW.

I'm getting an "internal server error" message when clicking on my bookmark, anybody else having this problem?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this buy you can get a Nikon D200 body from Best Buy for $599 right now.  Not sure if they have the deal in the stores or if it's online only.  I don't remember when it was discontinued buy I'm assuming they won't last much longer.

I heard an add on the radio for Carbonite, an online file back up and recovery service.  $50/year with unlimited storage and it automatically backs up new files several times a day.  Geek forum reviews were mixed and unhelpful so I was wondering if any here has tried it / liked it / hated it and why.

I've never been much to participate in online forums however I now find myself checking into MSG almost every chance I get.  I've learned a lot on here and have enjoyed the camaraderie that exists between fellow photographers.  I'm a newbie, barely over the line from beginner to intermediate, but enjoy it none the less.  I'm working on a PhD and have little time to devote to the time consuming process of editing, key-wording, uploading, categorizing etc. etc., especially when taking pictures is much more fun, but I do enjoy the occasional payout.  One thing I've learned since entering adulthood, some dozen years ago, is that adults, no matter how educated, cultured, experienced, learned or wise they may be, can be no more than older looking versions children. 

With all that said I want to give a great big hand to all those on this forum who feel their special intelligence and ability is not given the credit it is due.  Hopefully you know the types I'm talking about; the smart-assed comments, pontification, soapbox on a pedestal types; I love you all.  While the first reaction of some might be to take offense to your purposefully insulting attempt at wit and humor, I love it.  In fact I feed on it.  That old adage " there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers;"  well bollocks to that, I say screw em' all.  If your superior knowledge and experience surpasses that of another, then the lesser should be brought down another peg or two.  Especially in such a personal and intimate landscape as an online forum.  So I say cheers to you Mr. Know it all and not afraid to tell every one about it, and cheers to you Mrs. (or Ms.) your idiotic post has wasted so much of my time I must write a impudent response to prove what a waste of time it was.  Your devout dedication to the discipline and delightfully insipid remarks make my day.  Long gone are the days of humble and humility, now we must step on the backs of others, and it makes us feel good.

And finally, a sincere cheers to the the vast majority of you on this forum who contribute significantly and selflessly, it is in you that the community exist.

After waiting the wonderful seven days for a batch of 25 photos to be reviewed, the 23 that were accepted have been online for four days all with out a single view.  This has never happened before and I was curious if anyone else has had this problem. 

I've also noticed that my sales there appear to have run into a brick wall.  I'm a newbie but I've been $3.60 away from my first pay out for almost a month!!!

I'm relatively new in micros.  I've been visiting this forum for quite a while and have heard much of the summer slow down.  I've finally got full time internet access at home, a rather nice studio set up, and have just returned from a couple phenomenal photo trips.  Long story short, should I hold off on uploading the 200+ pictures I have ready to go so that they are new and fresh on the sites when sales pick up, or upload them now and hope they don't get lost to obscurity as newer files are uploaded.  I know it's best to slowly upload to SS, which is not a concern to me as I haven't been accepted there yet, but what about the others?  DT seems steady regardless of uploads, but what about IS, StockXpert, 123, and FT?
