Let's just hope all these changes explain (on contribs and buyers sites) the very low sales of january and this beginning february...

For contributor page, I would have put the worldmap on top of page, because it shows visually quickly (even when you're away from screen) how sales are doing. Apart from that, nothing to say compared to istock/getty crap stuffs

I took a look into the support center for buyers and I found this :
http://www.shutterstock.com/support/article/We-re-having-issues-with-the-site-and-are-working-on-a-fix?l=en_US&c=CustomerKB%3AWebsite_Issues&fs=Search&pn=1

"We're having issues with the site and are working on a fix!
We are currently experiencing issues with our site and are hard at work getting things running again. We expect to have this resolved shortly. Thank you for your patience."

They're telling buyers they are having issues but no date, no indication of when, what...
Not very professional way of communicate with "valued" customers...  ???

All I hope is that they will restore back all things again fast, and that sales will become great again.
And that they have a smart market plan to get customers (old and new) back!

I thought I'd just check firefox to see if things were any different, and had a situation where I clicked on one of my thumbs and a totally different image (not mine!) came up.

I clicked on a thumb of this image

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/oast-house-nestled-trees-hollingbourne-kent-79599667

and this was what was displayed!

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-vector/bottle-water-vector-illustration-isolated-on-308843966

On Chrome, I couldn't see the wrong image (tried it twice on firefox).

I'm not sure it's worth delving into details further, but perhaps this explains the terrible sales so far this morning :)

Thanks again but this is really intoreable and of course it explains terrible sales. Are they aware of this? or is it meant to be this way. Bug or something?

I hope they are aware of this and working on it, but maybe we should all write to shutterstock support too, the number the stronger...

Thanks for testing Jo Ann. When you're on the SS buyer site, did you try to click on a bunch of images from your portfolio (right click 'open in new window') to check if the image is displaying ? Because my problem is not 'images not showing up when doing a search', it is that my images are not showing when clicking on the thumb to go to the image detail page and buy it... ...

I just tried that and every thumb I clicked on to view came up OK. The sets are a huge mess (missing most of their contents) but for what shows, and for searches of my portfolio, I can see the image page for every thumb. Given the other problems I am seeing, it's not surprising you're seeing this though.

I'm using Chrome on a Mac, FWIW

Thanks again for taking the time for that Jo Ann. I hope they will answer soon to my email and bring back all this mess to normal, because it's already a severe loss of income formy part...

Hello all,
I just discovered that many many of my images in my portfolio are not displayed when i click on it on buyer SS site !
I understand why my sales have dropped ! :-\
I've written to SS to check what is happening. If only 1 on 5 images of my files are displayed when buyer click on it (I've got 2000 images), then I'll make 5x less income than usually
This is extremely worrying. Are you experiencing the same
Could you check if that 's happening with your port ?
Thx

Glad you mentioned this cause its the same here! I buy and contribute. The same eight or ten pictures are selling every day but when logging in as a buyer I can only see a small fraction of my pictures. Have also written to SS about a possible bug? they replied no bug and that everything was fine. its not. Whats going on?

Ok. How can they answer this to you as the bug is so obvious ?! You should show them this :

I will do if they dare to answer me there is no bug...
I also sent them bunch of links leading to this same page

Good picture. Frankly I don't think they care anymore. Nothing else seems to get fixed.

BTW this is the image showing up on Shutterstock buyers site when users click on my images... Technical predictable result = 0 sales

I did a little checking today and I don't think I see what you're experiencing. I have a buyer account and am logged in to that. I do a search that I know will produce one of my images. I click on that in the search results, then on my name. Then I search within my portfolio for some search terms and see all that I expect to see.

I am seeing again today a bug I thought was fixed last week (other people's images showing up in my sets and some sets missing images). Even though sets are sometimes short on images, if I do a portfolio search, those images are found.

It's possible that one or two images might be missing, but results look correct to me

Because my problem is not 'images not showing up when doing a search', it is that my images are not showing when clicking on the thumb to go to the image detail page and buy it... So lots of buyers cannot technically currently buy my images... I've tried from other computers and have the same result. An average of 1 image page detail on 10 only are showing up at this time. Can you imagine the loss of income on about 2050 images ? It's frightening :'( And still no answers from SS staff...

Shutterstock.com / Map With Sales Not Working...
« on: August 24, 2016, 05:38 »
Hello, since a few days the world map displaying image sales by country, on the contributor site page is not working.
Anyone encountering the same ?

As a contributor, the only change I will be facing with Getty/Istock is that 123RF is now ahead in terms of revenue.

18
An hypothesis : it's july, they hired or outsourced a new team of inspectors for summer holidays totally new and unaware to the business, and applying the rules with way too much zeal. Maybe in the admin interface of the inspectors, there is an option "mark this contributor as a spammer" and they use it abusely, which is causing the 'automatic email' we all recieved.

But this does'nt explain the files apparently deleted for some contributors portfolio...

I havent uploaded for several weeks and I still got the message. Why are these inspectors going through old stuff? I guess they started a project with some temporary staff to tidy up the portfolios. Nothing wrong with that, except that it went horribly wrong.

The fact is that almost each summer, I have strange files rejections with totally unjustified reasons. But true I do upload on a regular basis (30 i/m).

As you say maybe they have hired some staff to tidy up the portfolios, but probably the same people who are doing strange rejections...

Same for me, I received it last night !!!

And in the meantime just beafore, one of my last file, a set of two illustrated oysters has been rejected for 'spamming'.
My title was "Oyster Shell" and description "Illustration of a cartoon appetizing fresh and raw oyster shell, full and empty"

Where do you see some spam here !!!  :o

Hello everyone,

for a long time i've been thinking about suggest to Shutterstock to set a new level of earnings for contributors.
Probably someone of you has already suggested that here, but in case of...

For example for contributors having reached the $25000+ lifetime, set as following (more or less) :
Monthly : $0,40 or $0,42
On Demand : $1,32
On demand (any size) : $3
Custom Image : $32

What do you think? I'm also thinking about asking directly to Jon oringer maybe via Tweeter for example, just to see his answer ?...
That would be a fair improvement to reward "good" sellers (I know I'm a bit naive)

With the 2 new voting options I added, perhaps we will get some feedback from people who have seen at least a 10% increase in income since 2012.

Well done! Now let's see...

Agreed, it doesn't confirm theories as to cause of income drops. But it tells more than that there has been a drop in income. It also shows the following:

1 - Many indies have not seen a loss of income since 2012 versus almost all exclusives who have seen some loss of income.
2 - The majority of people who have had a loss on income have seen a loss of 50% or greater.

If you find that to be just a bit of fun, then no problem. But I find that to be useful data that we did not have before.

+1.

All in one, as we can read with votes already posted :
1. 75% of istock contributors have a drop in their sales (independent and exclusive)
2. Only 3% of exclusive has'nt dropped at all.

Just for curiosity, maybe you could have put also an item with 'My income has increased (by about x%) and I am an independent'...  ;)

25
Not everyone's experience is the same. A lot of those whose income has plummeted have stopped uploading while others are uploading new and more relevant content. Just because you don't like the answer don't shoot the messenger

I agree, and didn't meant to disqualify a priori these results, but sincerely they definitely hurt my common sense... I really wonder how can one still have the same revenue at least since the new current pricing system at IS?... Another curious fact is the ratio between indies and exclusive in the 'not dropped earnings' compared to the '50% dropped earnings'. But i know we don't have a significant amount of voters to draw any solid conclusion.
I used to earn on a regular basis up to more than 1000$/mth. Now I'm happy if I make 400$. I never stopped uploading images and, while standard sales were decreasing in volume and price, pp and subs were consistently growing with the volume. But now with same amount of images  added each month, pp and subs decrease also. So...
Yet this poll is very useful whatever the results are. Especially also for those who would like to try the micro experience. It tends to prove they must think rather than twice before upoading to IS.
