Adobe Stock / Re: Why no portfolio follow option in Adobe Stock?
« on: February 09, 2024, 13:24 »
I liked some contributors portfolios but why there is no option to follow them? Why?

It's been discussed. It's a matter of prioritizing engineering resources. I wouldn't be surprised to see this feature some day. When? Your guess is as good as mine.

Between 200-300 a day to have a decent amount of earnings by the end of the month

Seems excessive. I struggle to see how you can effectively create quality content at that scale unless you have a large team. More is not more.

I will answer your question with a similar question: How long is a piece of string?

There are too many variable to consider for a catch-all answer to exist. If all the images are part of the same series, you will be better off splitting the batch up and submitting in various intervals. If they are all unique and different, there is no harm is submitting all at once.

Use common sense (don't submit 10,000 at once for example) and you should be fine with whatever you choose. Trial and error will help you find the sweet spot that best works for you.

Good luck,

Mat Hayward

I had a 4k video sell for $5 about a year ago on AS. Would that have been a subscription sale for a HD version of the 4k clip? Or something else?

Yes, that would have been an HD version of a 4K clip that sold at a subscription price if it was a year ago.

Thank you,

I'm not sure on this one Ralf. What is the image number? I'll look into it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock 1099 forms are available
« on: February 04, 2024, 15:59 »
Seems the Adobestock 1099 values are based on $$$ of record at the end of each calendar month (summed to one yearly value) and not on how/when the contributor takes their payouts?

That is correct. The 1099 is based on royalties earned. The cash out amount is not relevant. If you were paid a royalty in 2023 but cashed it out in 2024 the earnings would reflect in your 2023 1099 and not 2024.

Adobe Stock / Adobe Stock 1099 forms are available
« on: February 01, 2024, 12:26 »
Hi everyone. As many of you know, Adobe has implemented the option to download 1099s as an eStatement. These are available to download now.

To view your 2023 1099, please click the below link or copy the link into your browser.  You will need your Tax Id or SS # and Adobe vendor #.

https://236230.invoiceinfo.com/get1099.html

In the blue box on the left-hand side, select Electronic 1099 Signup & Request.  Please follow the instruction on the page to download your 2023 1099.

You will also have the option to Opt-In for eStatements for future tax years. When you Opt-in, you will no longer receive a 1099 via USPS mail.

If you do not choose to opt-in, you will continue to receive your 1099 as a hard copy, sent via USPS mail.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

Adobe Stock / Re: Custom License $0.30?
« on: February 01, 2024, 12:19 »
Hi @BPawesome, would you please send me the file number so I can look into this.

Same for you @Trek. Please send me a file number.

Either send to me via PM here or email [email protected]

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

Hi Everyone,

Adobe Stocks 4K video clips will now be offered alongside HD clips for licensing as part of Adobe Stock subscriptions. This change will simplify the offering for Stock customers, allowing them to license HD and 4K video content as well as standard images, templates, 3D, and audio tracks using their subscriptions.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Adobe Stock Keywords
« on: January 24, 2024, 18:33 »
The first ten keywords have the most weight in search results. You can add up to 49 relevant keywords. They all play a role in search. As long as they are relevant, you should add as many as you can think of. The tool here in MSG is effective in providing useful keywords. Spend the most time focusing on the first ten, the rest is helpful, just not quite as impactful in the results.

-Mat Hayward

Hi Mat,

Could you please advise if adding keyword composed of 3 words is a good idea or shall I separate all words?

It depends on the context. Would the compound keyword appear in the dictionary that way? A good example I like to use is "Golden gate bridge". That makes sense as a three word compound keywords. I would also list separately, the individual keyword "bridge" but I would not use "golden" or "gate" individually.

"Red dress" is an example where you should list two separate keywords "red" and "dress" individually and not together.

Hope that helps,

Mat Hayward

Yes, and others just over $1.00 and $1.40 as you mentioned. Adobe Stock has started 2024 really great for me and way in the lead. So far I feel like Adobe is the ONLY site that is rewarding the work I put into microstock.

Oh, good to hear.  Is there any policy change on Royalty structure?  I wondered if I moved up a ladder based on total number of sales or something.  Meanwhile, Shutterstock royalty is back to the lowest tier.  lol

The royalty rate remains at 33% of the price paid per asset. The price paid varies based on the plan the customer has committed to.

Hi Mat,

that is good to read that at least it is on the todo list for the team.

If you ever need beta testers...

I am a big fan of sorting a port into sensible galleries to make it easier for customers.

The best version I ever saw was on twenty20, unfortunatly taken over and closed down.

Their gallery system was very intutitive and inspiring.

I spent hours browsing various galleries, it had great suggestive features.

Also created many public galleries with mixed content from different artists around a theme.

Many people love to create collections, pinterest thrives on that.

The editing talent in the wider community has never been intelligently tapped by any agency (except twenty20).

Please consider to create a useful interface for "collectors" that will dive into the Adobe collection and create beautiful and very useful public galleries.

Algorithms can only do so much.

Allow the editing talent of the community to surprise and impress you. They are an asset class on their own that should be nurtured and welcomed.

eta

Or buy pinterest and find a useful way to integrate it ;)

To clarify, I didn't say this is on a "to do" list. I wrote that I have requested this upgrade to the portal. I cannot say whether it will happen or not in the future. I'll keep fighting the good fight though :)

Adobe Stock / Re: Genuine illustrations marked as AI
« on: January 09, 2024, 09:48 »
I had the same problem. But it only affected 4 vector graphics that have been online for many years. Mat has ensured that the "AI generated" has now disappeared.

Please be sure to check that and confirm @Wilm. If anyone else faces the same issue, please contact support using the contact us link at the bottom of the contributor portal.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Adobe Stock Keywords
« on: January 09, 2024, 09:47 »
How important is to add keywords to image metadata? I can do that from my computer, but not from my iPad (most of my illustrations are made on iPad) It it ok if I dont add metadata to my images?

You must add a title and at least 5 keywords before you can submit. It doesn't matter if you embed them in the metadata before upload, or if you add them in the contributor portal after you upload. It must be done. Not only is it required, it's by far the most effective way to get your content seen and sold.

-Mat Hayward

Thank you Mat for your reply. I have another question:
I see that numerous other accounts/people copied my description and keywords exactly word to word from my best sellers. Is that allowed?

We don't display the keywords added by the contributor in Adobe Stock. Instead, what is displayed is a list of recommended search terms that may produce results relevant to the subject the customer is looking for.

If Adobe would allow us to search our own images with keywords, I would maybe use the gallery system more. But like this it is a little tedious to create a new gallery then manually go over all the pages to find files.

I agree, it's a clunky system as it is. Better than it was initially, but it still needs work. I've got requests in to the development team to allow for keyword searches within the dashboard, and to allow contributors to select the hero image for each collection. It's simply not a top priority at this time so I don't expect this to change any time in the near future, but I do bring it up when the opportunity presents itself.

We appreciate the feedback, thank you.

based on previous years it's too early for any announcement - last year's was late Feb(?) and credits in early March (?) - dates may be off by a week or so

i won a bet last year against those who thought the program would be canceled - anyone want to take the bet this year & buy me a few americanos?

I wouldn't take that bet ;)

Though I would be happy to buy you a cup of coffee if we meet in person.

Just wanted to double check before I went ahead.

Thanks

Make sure you count the stars and the stripes. Check carefully for any deformities or inaccurate details. Flags can be very tricky with generative AI.

Because I'm worried about having the account blocked, I ask.
How can I mark sensitive content when uploading so that the AS employee doesn't block the account while image selection. So where's the checkbox for "adult content"? Don't see any... Other sites have a simple checkbox.

Especially if Mat reads here, it would be great to get an answer.
Examples:
1. overweight man in gym while biting in a hamburger (discriminatory, and everyone is so super sensitive these days)
2. naked woman in the shower, breasts visible (clearly adult content)

As per the submission guidelines:

"For submissions containing nudity that has artistic value, the model must be at least 18 years old and the model release must include the model's photo ID so we can verify age. Never submit any sexually explicit, pornographic, or immoral material, including material that sexualizes minors. "

https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/submission-guidelines.html

-Mat

I think Mat means "there is now a checkbox" not "there is not a checkbox".

I'm sure you are right and that is most definitely what he meant ;) Fixed it.

Mat, Now that Gen AI is allowed for video submissions, would the same guidelines apply for videos in terms of when to tag as Gen. AI?

Good question. For "AI" video - I didn't actually see any way to select an "ai" video for a submission, would one just add 'gen ai' to it? (I haven't actually made any 'gen ai' video - but I've noticed some people have 'ai video' submitted, and was curious how one would submit that). Thanks!

Hi Synthetick. Please refer to the generative AI guidelines for specific details on what is and is not allowed.

@Superphoto, there is now a checkbox for videos and vectors made with generative AI software. Please see this thread for the update: https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/adobe-stock-requirement-for-generative-ai-video-clips-and-vectors/msg595935/?topicseen#new

Thanks,

So...

a) For actual photos (not genAI)... Do you "need" keep the meta data in the images? I submitted a batch of high quality photographs - and "all" were rejected... (I had cleaned out the meta data, i.e., what camera was used, and other details)... was that just laziness on the reviewers part (i.e., did they just "assume" it was genAI because of no meta data, so just rejected it), or what was going on - do I "need" to leave that data in? Extremely frustrating, as I had waited quite some time for them to be processed...

b) When I do some of the genAI,I do take the time to remove extra fingers, logos, make sure the composition is correct, etc... I realize there are probably many that don't (seeking 'genAI' riches with no work/editing/etc)... HOWEVER... it's also frustrating when it seems you get a lazy reviewer - that rejects 90%-95% of a batch that required a lot of time consuming editing to make sure it looked good... Matt, could you please fix that?

Thanks very much!

Removing metadata such as camera details would have zero impact on moderation results. The quality of the asset is the top criteria when it comes to image reviews. Without seeing the content you are referencing, I can only assume there were issues with the files and that the moderators got it right. I'm certainly open to being proven wrong and would encourage you to share a couple of examples here.

If I understand the submission requirements for generative AI submissions:

 1. If I have a model released image and I use the GenAI tools in photoshop to extend the background, I should not mark the image as Generative AI?

 2. If I have say a model released image with a model on a white background (or in any environment for that matter) and I use GenAI tools in Photoshop to totally create/replace an environment (e.g.: room, outdoors) around the model.
I would submit the image with a model release but I should or should not mark it as GenAI?

Thanks

It's very difficult to speculate and answer a question like this without image examples. Based on what you described, I would generally tend to agree with what you wrote. For more definitive answers, I would encourage you to refer to the Learn and Support page for generative AI guidelines. Here is what it says about this topic:

Label your image as generative AI when the use of generative AI tools in Photoshop or Illustrator changed, augmented, or added a new primary subject of an image.

Examples when to label your image as generative AI:

-Generating new additions, such as a new person, animal, or object
-Adding new subjects might compromise the accuracy of an image
-Making significant adjustments or changes to a human subject in an image
-Recoloring the primary subject of an image

Examples when you wouldnt be obligated to label an image as generative AI:

-Extending background for any reason
-Removing IP or other forms of retouching
-Removing distracting objects or people
-Recoloring the background of an image

Hi everyone,

As generative AI tools continue to evolve, Adobe Stock continues to clarify and update our guidelines with respect to content submissions made using those tools.

Wed like to share an updated requirement for video clips and vectors made with generative AI software. Now, when you submit video clips or vectors, you will see a created using generative AI tools checkbox. As with still images, you are required to check this box whenever you submit a video clip or vector created using generative AI tools. Please note that our quality standards for video clips and vectors remain unchanged.

Please refer to the Adobe Stock generative AI submission guidelines and video requirements / vector requirements page for additional information.
