Adobe Stock / Re: This is highly unprofessional

There is absolutely no relation between opting into the Free collection and your review results. The moderation team would have no way of knowing how many files, if any you opted in for free.

The only thing opting into the Free collection affects, is the potential for sales on approved files during the year they are in the free collection, as well as your contributor balance when you are paid for approved files.

I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next person. Sorry to debunk this one for you.

Mat, will the contributors get a share of the credits used for the "fast lane" generative fill?

Credits are distributed through your Creative Cloud subscription. If you qualified for a bonus code for a complimentary Creative Cloud subscription, then yes is the answer to your question.

Hi Everyone,

I'll be broadcasting live in Behance Live (I come from the land of redundancy land) at 12pm PT with Adobe legend, Terry White. We'll go over the latest and greatest Adobe features recently announced including Firefly, new Lightroom tools, and more. The tools we will discuss have potential to make your lives easier, and/or expand your stock portfolio so you should check it out. I hope to see you there. We should have plenty of time for a live Q&A so if you have a burning question, this is a good opportunity to ask.

I have sent you the information.  Thanks.

Thank you @Hannafate. I received your email and have removed the generative AI tag from all the files you listed. I'm sorry for the inconvenience the mistake caused you and others.

Regarding the comments from @Synthetic, you are correct that the support team is particularly busy these days, so it is taking a longer time than we would prefer to resolve many contributor issues. That said, this is not a low priority at all. We take it very seriously and are working to resolve this, and all other issues as quickly as possible.

As always, your patience is greatly appreciated.

-Mat Hayward

Does it make any difference? I mean should I search and report any images of mine that are not AI that are labeled as that? Or can I just ignore the problem and see if something changes?

It's hard to say. If your image was not created with generative AI software but was inadvertently tagged as generative AI, I believe it is a reasonable request to remove that tag. The team is doing their best to get through support cases as quickly as possible. You are welcome to reach out to me directly as well.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

I have sent multiple messages to support without response.

I am deleting the offending illustrations, and re-uploading them. (tedious and annoying)

How do I make sure they don't get mislabeled again?

Send me an email with the file numbers. I'll look into this asap: [email protected]

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

1. No AI/ML Training

When using our generative AI features, you agree you will use them only for your creative work product and not to train AI/ML models.

This means you must not, and must not allow third parties to, use any content, data, output or other information received or derived from any generative AI features, including any Firefly outputs, to directly or indirectly create, train, test, or otherwise improve any machine learning algorithms or artificial intelligence systems, including any architectures, models, or weights.

Later on it mentions that they might introduce some beta features that wouldn't be OK for commercial use in any context but is very vague about how you're supposed to know (emphasis mine):

Thanks for calling this out, Jo Ann. I want to confirm and clarify that you can upload Firefly outputs to Adobe Stock without violating Adobe's generative AI guidelines. The guidelines you quoted are meant to prohibit users from using Firefly outputs for personal or 3rd party AI/ML models.

Regarding your last point about future beta features, you can be confident that if something comes up down the road, I will be here to help explain as best I can.

Thanks again,

Mat Hayward

Adobe Stock / Re: Additional categories?
« on: October 11, 2023, 09:42 »
Is anyone else finding that the selection of categories for photos is a bit limited on AS? Two extra categories that I could think of right now (that could be very useful) are Health and Products.

Thanks for the feedback. My advice is to use the auto-category that is selected for you by default. In my experience, the selection is almost-always accurate. The reality is that the category has very little influence in search and/or sales results. My recommendation is to focus your attention on strong metadata with your title and keywords.

Thanks again,

@ Mat Hayward

https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=%22japan+web%22

28,968 files NOT identified by checking the box Created using generative AI tools.

And that is just a small amount of "vectors" created by AI which are accepted in a collection without being stated as a AI generated content.
I strongly think that accepting those files on a daily bases , as regular vector files, harms both contributors and buyers.
I don't see much AI here. Pretty solid styles and correct shapes. I maybe found 2 images on the whole page, which could be AI. OR it can be SVGs, produced by vector AI...

Let me remind you that vector artists don't have the Created using generative AI tools checkbox. But we desperately need it.

Do not submit vector images created with or by generative AI software.

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

Can we please, please, lose the blue notification bar?  Every time on my phone I have to dismiss it to see my sales total.

Noted and shared with the larger team. Thank you!

You can confirm your rate for the Missions in the contributor portal by clicking the Missions tab at the top.

So we all have different "rate" for the same job? Based on what?

Differences in Mission offers may be due to the type of Mission, amount of content, or estimated cost of production. It may also be due to A/B testing during the limited beta rollout of our new Missions feature.  Missions are currently limited to only a select group of contributors.  This test aims to evaluate varying pricing structures to allow us to better understand what resonates most with our community, helping us scale Missions to the larger Contributor community in a sustainable way.

Mat,I'm interested in knowing if every real environment can be considered a topic, for example bananas in a basket in the middle of the grass,or bananas hanging on a wall are okay?

because if any real environment is considered valid, then is possible create 50/60 different topics.

Yes, that should be fine.

Thanks for the question,

Mat

Why do I see 60$ for the first two "missions" - eating food and hands with food, and only 40$ for the bananas and flags "missions" ?

I also noticed a transcription error in the Italian language, for the mission of hands with food which is 80,but in Italian it is translated 60.

okay, maybe it's better if Mat,if possible, confirms what the exact amounts are for the missions.

However,I want to add that 60 for each single mission for bananas is fair, but in my opinion 80 for "close up of mouth eating food" is low, because it involves a whole series of other things in addition.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We are interested in learning more about what you like/don't like about the Missions so please keep your comments coming.

You can confirm your rate for the Missions in the contributor portal by clicking the Missions tab at the top. Please note, this is a limited release, so not everyone will see the Missions tab at this time.

"You may submit up to five separate sets of 5001000 pictures by restarting the Mission after submitting the previous set".

After this quote,I have two questions:

1-Can I upload a set of 500x5 times and get 5X money?(if so,things get interesting)

2-What is the difference between uploading 500 or 1000 images? What is the advantage of uploading 1000 in one set?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. To answer your questions @Injustice....

1. Yes, you can submit 5 Missions. If they are all approved, you would receive 5 payments.
2. I can see no advantage to submitting 1,000 images in on Mission. It makes more sense to me to submit two separate Missions with 500 images each and receive two payments.

Regarding the comments such as what @Derby said "it's absolutely not possible to collect 500/1000 snapshots in a few days". Respectfully, I disagree. It's important you don't confuse these photos with traditional stock photos. A big difference is that we encourage similar images. You can shoot up to 50 frames of the same setup by changing the general composition, focal point, etc. You can shoot these in JPG and upload them as-is straight out of camera. Obviously, you want them to look good, but you do not need to spend time doing RAW conversions or postprocessing. In addition, no keywords are required.

In my workflow, postprocessing and indexing take more time than actual photography. I think you would be surprised what you can accomplish in a relatively short period of time.

Keep the feedback coming!

Someone knows how many days appears the money when it is withdrawed from Adobe Stock? I withdrowed on september 12th and not news about on my PayPal account. Thanks!

Yes, correct. The average payment is processed in 7-10 business days.

-Mat

I normally request money at the end of each month, but this month I too requested a payout after the Firefly "bonus" showed up. I haven't yet been paid either. They say 7-10 days (I think - it might say 7-10 business days).

I can't request my end of the month payout until the earlier one is paid - you're not allowed to make a request if there's a payment pending - so I hope they sort this out next week.

If you use the filters "Vector" + "gernerative AI only", you get 120000 results. This is quite a lot considering that these files are not accepted.
I spoke to the support and they are probably going to fix it. Probably, by re-reviewing. Soon, I guess.

At this day, I think, real Vector-AI will be punished. Because Adobe is not accepting Vector AI. While I don't see any clear answer of a line in ToS about it.

Is there a way to question Mat directly? Because I really think it's time to start thinking of AI-vectors as a separate thing, like AI images. Look at Shutterstock, which claims zero tolerance for AI. Their database is full of it. And they will never know what is human-made now, they will never be able to roll it back.

Is this really the intention at all? So, if I remove a minuscule logo with the new 'remove' tool, do I have to label my photo as 'generated with AI'? This completely misses the point, doesn't it? 'Modified by AI' would cover it better, but I still find it completely nonsensical

If I understand Mat Hayward's comment correctly, you don't need to  label your image as generative AI if you just remove something with generative AI tools.

Examples when to label your image as generative AI:

-Generating new additions, such as a new person, animal, or object
-Adding new subjects might compromise the accuracy of an image
-Making significant adjustments or changes to a human subject in an image
-Recoloring the primary subject of an image

Examples when you wouldnt be obligated to label an image as generative AI:

-Extending background for any reason
-Removing IP or other forms of retouching
-Removing distracting objects or people
-Recoloring the background of an image

Matt, when accepting the terms of use of the Firefly plug-in in Photoshop, a message appears that commercial use of the beta version is prohibited. Does this mean that the Photoshop plug-in is still in beta or is it safe to upload files to Adobe Stock?

Firefly is out of beta. You can use it for commercial purposes. Update your main Photoshop on your computer through the Creative Cloud and you should be good to go.

The Adobe rep who started this thread hasn't been back lately to answer for this crap situation. Here's a question Mat, from Abobe. If I pull my images off your site dose Adobe get to use them in perpetuity in your ai firefly system? If so, what date was this in perpetuity clause put into the artist agreement?

Hello Goober.

We currently have no plans to use removed content for training purposes.

Adobe Stock / Re: review times??

Suggestion for Adobe/Mat

Please allow us a small number of files to be fast tracked, to be able to respond to current world events - a new covid type scare, floodings and earthquakes, maybe a stock market crash...aliens are real...

The way it is now, if something dramatic happens, we have no chance of getting relevant material online in time.

Imagine if all the images of people wearing masks got delayed for 3 months...

So - perhaps depending on port size/sales success/rank...please allow us to fasttrack 2-10 files a week.

I appreciate the request and understand the concern. What you are describing is more in line with an editorial content submission which, as you know we do not accept. I wish I had better news to share, but the wait time for review is still lengthy for everyone. We do appreciate your patience.

More information about the bonus payments can be discovered in this blog article published today:

And you are raising CC software prices which were already high, that's really not nice Adobe.  :-\

"Starting November 2023, Adobe plans for users to be able to purchase additional Generative Credits through a new subscription plan, starting at $4.99/month for 100 Credits." So will we get paid whenever someone uses our image and know which one is it, like we are paid for normal, paid images? It should be similar, why not? I like bonus I got, but I don't like to be paid in bulk, not knowing how many of my images were used and at which price.

All info is from Adobe blog https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2023/09/13/ai-creative-cloud-release-pricing-update?sdid=VG52KCB7&mv=social&mv2=paid-owned&fbclid=IwAR0W4AIxqg-zKvR8XNEQT3r80dW5NGWwxFZgn4DnAjUARChtw_3OLRibYEI.

Currently there is no contributor compensation for images that are generated and licensed from Firefly. We do not have information on future compensation.

-Mat Hayward

Adobe has now announced pricing for Firefly (which is out of beta)

I haven't seen anything yet about what the rules will be for Adobe Stock contributors who use the AI-fueled Photoshop features to edit a photo they took - does that then become content that must be marked as genAI? With the exception of editorial (which Adobe Stock doesn't except beyond the odd illustrative editorial), one doesn't have to mark photos that have been edited as such. And in general you'd never sell much if you didn't edit what came out of the camera. All these considerations get a lot murkier once there are AI tools to modify a photo of something that actually exists (existed) in the real world.

This is mostly, IMO, a concern about giving the buyer an accurate description of what they're licensing.

Thanks for the question about how to tag content edited with generative fill, Jo Ann. Here is the official policy which can be viewed in the recently updated generative AI submission guidelines page: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/generative-ai-content.html

Label your image as generative AI when the use of generative AI tools in Photoshop or Illustrator changed, augmented, or added a new primary subject of an image.

-Removing distracting objects or people
-Recoloring the background of an image

thanks again,

Mat Hayward

Mat, do I understand this correctly, that the payment is solely based on portfolio sice and sales, not on whether the images were actully used to train your AI? Because if that's the case  that basically means that someone who has not done a single real photo or illustration in all his life, but has only created tons of AI content based off other people's hard work also got the "compensation". So they basically got PAID for generating AI images based off the work of people who never got paid for it.
That's a far cry from Adobe's statement that you were "developing generative AI responsibly, with creators at the center."

The initial bonus is based on the all-time total number of approved images you submitted to Adobe Stock and the number of licenses that those images generated in the 12-month period between June 3rd, 2022 to June 2nd, 2023. The bonus is weighted towards license.
