Hello everyone, I have important news to share with you. One year from today on November 5, 2019 Fotolia will close. What does this mean for you? If you have already synced your Fotolia account with Adobe Stock then you are all set. No additional action is required on your part. If you have not synced your Fotolia account with the Adobe Stock Contributor portal, now is the time to do so. Go to https://contributor.stock.adobe.com and create or sign in with your Adobe ID. You will be asked if you are a Fotolia contributor and then prompted to sync your account. Beginning February 5 contributors will not be able to submit new content through Fotolia. All new uploads must happen via Adobe Stock starting on that date. You will however still be able to access Fotolia with your login credentials to view your sales history, the tax center and to submit payment requests should you prefer to do so up until November 5. After that, there will be no access to Fotolia in any capacity. Your content will still be online at Fotolia up until November 5 so customers can continue to purchase licenses to use your work through Fotolia. As always, any commissions earned through Fotolia sales will be paid immediately into your Adobe Stock Contributor account. You will find additional information including how to sync your account here: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/contributor-fotolia.htmlThere are many advantages to using the Adobe Stock Contributor portal. You can edit keywords and titles on approved content. Free access to Adobe Portfolio where you can share custom collections created in the Adobe Stock Contributor portal along with your non-stock work, Adobe sensei generated auto keywords, auto title and auto categories to streamline your indexing process, contributors outside the US paid in USD can receive payments through Payoneer, top 10 contributors of the week displayed to show you what type of content is in demand from customers in real time, Creative Cloud members can upload to Adobe Stock through Lightroom Classic, Adobe Bridge and Premiere Pro CC. There are many new and exciting features being developed. Migrating everyone to one site will allow us to focus more on Adobe Stock development to provide these new features faster than ever. Im sure you have many questions. I will be checking the forum frequently and will do my best to answer them in as timely a manner as possible. Kind regards, Mat Hayward

So...I guess youre requiring either zipped folders or huge art boards if you use the drag and drop option. Is that correct?
The requirement is the same whether using FTP or drag and drop. The error message is more immediate when using drag and drop however. -Mat

The artboard size must be a minimum of 15MP when submitting a standalone vector. If you prefer, you can still zip the vector file with a jpg that is 15MP instead of the large artboard and that will meet the upload requirements. More details on vector upload specifications can be read here: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/vector-requirements.html-Mat

Thanks for Pete. I'm glad you like the feature. We are open to improve the formula but this seems to provide useful information for now. As mentioned, the goal is to inform you and all contributors what buyers are actually looking for and purchasing. Any and all suggestions are welcome, we are happy to test and improve.
-Mat
There in lies the problem Matt.
If everyone started following the Top Ten and shooting similar or the same stuff you would end up with little diversity.
I understand your point. It can be a challenge to find balance when dispensing information. My personal opinion is that the more transparent we can be, the better it is for everyone. I feel this feature strikes a good balance of real time intelligence on what is selling and it provides enough diversity in content that there isn't any one thing that has the magic formula everyone wants to copy. If we just showed one image or one portfolio and said "This is the best! Everyone wants this" then sure, we would all rush to our cameras and shutters would be clicking left and right capturing the same thing. From what I have seen so far there is a fairly wide range of content that is succeeding. It's great feedback, I appreciate the debate. -Mat Hayward

What if someone doesn't want to be featured? I'm guessing there will be a lot of copycats based on selected contributors.
The featured contributors are selected automatically, there isn't an option to not be featured if qualified and selected. In my opinion there is a diverse enough range of content between 10 contributors per week, changing every week that it won't spark the copycat craze. The feature should serve as motivation and inspiration but not as a guide for exactly what type of content to shoot. -Mat

So, If I have understood well, you can also put photos that are not in your Adobe portfolio and not destined to be sold?
Yes, that is correct. Adobe Portfolio is a fully customizable app that includes hosting for your content. Only 2 of my 6 existing galleries are Adobe Stock galleries. There are many great templates in place you can use which can then be modified to suit your needs. I was seriously impressed with the overall functionality. There are some good tutorials online to get the most out of it. My personal page is a work in progress. I predict I will replace my existing site www.mathaywardphoto.com with my Portfolio site especially since I can link my custom URL to the page.

This sounds great, but how do I get my non-stock photos into an Adobe Gallery? (Sorry if this is a lame question.)
If you aren't a Creative Cloud member you will need to add at least one collection with one image to Adobe Portfolio to activate the access. Once you have your account set up there are quite a few tutorials available. I recommend the Terry White video. Here is a basic rundown of how to navigate Adobe Portfolio: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/how-to/create-portfolio-website.html-Mat

Oh well, great addition for photographers. Doesn't work for videographers on Adobe Stock. If they can add functionality to sharing video collections I'm in. But I'm adding links to my vintage series on a website I created for that purpose already. www.oldtimefootage.com
Does Adobe have an API that I can embed my portfolio on my website?
Thanks, Jake
Not that I am aware of. Portfolio is integrated with Lightroom, Behance and of course Adobe Stock. I'm not an expert on Adobe Portfolio so if you do find a way to embed your existing portfolio, please let us know. -Mat

Thanks Mat, I love Adobe.
A small question: In contributor of the week, I see there are some portfolio with 100+ downloads featured too. So on what criteria are these selected?
Here is the information for how the contributors are selected. The goal of this feature, apart from celebrating our talented contributors, is to inform you of what type of content is trending based purely on sales data.
Contributors of the week are determined each week using the following process: For each asset type we generate a list of 400 contributors who made the most sales in the previous week, only considering their uploads from the past six months. Then, we order the list based on each contributors uploads/sales ratio, and the top 10 contributors on this list are featured as Contributors of the week.
Contributors are eligible to be featured at most once every five weeks. This selection process is subject to change in the future.

Feature Two: Contributor of the week. We are now showcasing the top photo, vector and illustration contributors each week. This is a great way to see in real time what is actually trending in the market. I strongly recommend you check this out every week for motivation and inspiration.
Contributors will be featured automatically no more than once every 5 weeks. The featured contributors are selected automatically based on sales of content submitted in the past 6 months. The top ten contributors measured by the upload/sales ratio are featured.
I hope you enjoy these new features!
-Mat Hayward

Hi Everyone, Each year for Adobe MAX ( https://max.adobe.com/) the Adobe Stock Development team works to release new features. This year I am pleased to inform you that Adobe Stock Contributors will benefit from two of these features. Feature One: Starting right now, all Adobe Stock Contributors have access to create their own customized web page using Adobe Portfolio. Historically, Adobe Portfolio has only been available to Creative Cloud members as part of their subscription. This is still true UNLESS you are an Adobe Stock Contributor! The best part of this in my opinion is that the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal is now connected with Adobe Portfolio. What this means for you is that you can create custom Collections in the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal and feature them in your Adobe Portfolio page. You can customize Adobe Portfolio to fit your needs then share your Portfolio page or individual collections. The images have a clickable link for potential customers to click and buy directly through Adobe Stock! This is a fantastic way to showcase your work and drive sales to your contributor account. I spent some time playing with this feature and I have to say that Im personally very excited about it. I was able to change the order the images are displayed in each collection and update the cover image to what I want. By default, the cover image has the Adobe Stock watermark on it. My personal preference was to have that removed so I customized the gallery and updated the cover with a non-watermarked version. You can see one gallery with and one gallery without to see what I mean in my Adobe Portfolio page linked here: https://haywardphoto.myportfolio.com/ The gallery titled Africa with the elephant image and the gallery titled Favorite Stock Shots with Hamilton the Frenchie are both Adobe Stock galleries.

I met the qualifications before the email went out, but haven't received anything. Does it matter if my current cc subscription is under a different account than my stock account?
Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
No, that doesn't matter. The code will be emailed to the address associated with your Adobe Stock Contributor account. -Mat

Never got my code and am well passed the requirements
I haven't received my code either. I did contact support earlier and supposedly I'd be in the next batch. But if another batch has gone out - ccbcc mentioned receiving one this week - then I'm puzzled.
Hi Jo Ann, Moments ago I received an updated list and see that you are on it. I'll reach out to you via email to make sure you are all set. Thanks for your patience, Mat

I'm not the best source of information for Creative Cloud questions. I recommend you contact customer service through Adobe.com with any specific questions you have about your subscription.
Sorry I can't be more help on this.

What happens when a subscription ends? No software, everything stops working. I've read that the cloud storage stays for a year, so good news you don't get locked out of your own files.
Is the subscription by month or actual date? If I subscribe today will it end Oct. 31st 2019 or Oct. 4th 2018?
This Scott Kelby article does a good job answering your question: https://lightroomkillertips.com/happens-cancel-lightroom-cc-subscription/-Mat

My point exactly. Sort of the kind of thing you would hope to be informed about explicitly and officially. If the assumption's right, that is, of course.
Nothing has changed regarding exclusive contributor commission rates based on Fotolia credit based sales. This change only impacts the minimum commission amount on subscription sales. Thanks, -Mat

Hi Matt - I was pretty excited about this because I had over $935 in earnings between Jan. and July of this year alone (as of this month its well over $1,000.) I've been watching my mailbox patiently, but it's been more than 8 weeks since the initial announcement and I have still not received the email. So now I'm wondering if I misunderstood the terms of the benefit.
Contact us through the contributor portal and we'll take a look. If you have that much in earnings and still haven't received a code it would be for one of 3 reasons...the email was overlooked by you or went to spam (sender is CompEXT), you haven't had at least one image approved this year or your approval ratio is below 50%.
-Mat
Mat, now I am confused. I met the sales criteria, had an approval rate over 50% and had more than one image approved this year as of the date of the first announcement of this program and I have not yet received a code as well. I contacted support and understood that they have not yet sent out all the codes. Are you saying they have(sent out all the codes for people meeting the criteria from "day 1")?....should I contact support again?
Thanks
Yes, if you were qualified on day one you would have already received the code. Submit a request for information through the contributor portal. -Mat

Hi Matt,
Just out of curiosity, are there any free codes left? I just passed the 300 video uploads mark, but also passed the $500,- mark three weeks ago.
Sjoerd
Wondering the same thing! We earned the photo code back in the first round but just qualified for the whole package and are hoping we did so in time as it's such a nice bonus.
Yes, there are still codes available. -Mat
