One word for this.  Redonkulous.

Does it surprise me?  Not a bit.  Pretty soon we'll have to show them a video clip of the person signing it, as well as the models SS# and scan of their birth certificate.  Give me a freakin break.

How about "Friggn' Redonkulous." lol

What a PITA it will be. Needing a release for each picture of my 4 or 6 years old kids is so dumb. At least if it could be 1 release per year. Not like I could sue myself for selling a picture of my own kid since I'm the one signing the release anyway. It's already dumb that I need a witness to co-sign my kids releases that I sign myself... once again, am I gonna sue myself?

/sigh

I feel the same way. I take photos of my son almost everyday. Many of those photos become stock photos I will sell later and IS wants a new MR for every photo session? This is really going to get out of hand. I really hope the Deep Meta guys come up with a good system for dealing with all of these releases.

Do you reckon you generate additional sales for your stuff by having it on Flickr?

Not that I have seen. I have done a lot of work getting images up on flickr and promoting them and all I ever get is people asking if they can have them for free.

Washington Beaches aren't nearly as nice.
Hey back off buddy! lol

...but seriously, what wrong with the beaches in WA?

Heading out to my home turf are you.

There is so much to do and see out here. You might want to check out Port Townsend, The Dungeness Spit area, Lake Crescent, The Hoh Rainforest. There are lots of other great places to check out too. Dont forget your rain gear.

Vetta is only available to exclusives at IS, and if history is correct, only select exclusives ever get their work accepted. Betta is open to all CC contributors who submit outstanding work. I will admit I'm not fond of the name but at least CC has some variety and is not making up a payment system so confusing that you can't figure out what your royalty is supposed to be.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. Maybe "Betta than Vetta" isnt the best name, but at least its a collection of the truly best photos Cuctcaster has to offer, where as the Vetta collection is only the best of what their exclusive contributors have to offer.

Is photo really any "betta" just because it's coming from an exclusive photographer?

Hey John,

Good to know istock isn't the only site out there with a "premium" collection. Thanks for including a couple of my photos.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: My first FotoSearch Regular - $19.80
« on: July 31, 2009, 14:44 »
It seems to me that it is easier to leave images up on slow selling sites (we're all complaining about lack of time!) than to delete them. If regular payouts don't come, it's not hurting anything to have the images for sale on another site...

Just my 2 cents!

Exactly

37
It would really depend on the site. If Fotolia rejected 100% of a batch I wouldnt be all that surprised the way things are going over there. If Dreamstime rejected 100% of a batch I would sit down and figure out what I did wrong and why it happened. If it happened at 123rf I would assume it was some sort of mistake.

38
Crazy and inspiring.

Its great they were able to accomplish this, but is the movie any good?

39
You can upload via ftp which is great, but the submission process could be faster. Sales are pretty regular for me and the min payout is low (around $30-40 USD) so its worth it for me.

I just dont get fractals? Why would someone pay to download something they could easily create themselves. Im really surprised stock sites even accept them.

Bigstock.com / Re: 8 hour approval time at BigStock today!!!
« on: July 21, 2009, 14:57 »
Im guessing quicker review times probably have a little something to do with the fact BigStock recently started restricting uploads.

Upload limits = people are submitting less photos
Fewer photos to review = Faster review times

I wrote a blog post about this a little while back that you might find helpful.

Alamy.com / Re: New Alamy QC Policy
« on: July 09, 2009, 12:15 »
I havent had any problem with Alamy lately. I submit around 30 new images every week and I havent had any rejects in a long time. Reviews usually take 5-7 days (i think)

General Photography Discussion / Re: Do you shoot tethered
« on: July 09, 2009, 12:12 »
i shoot all my studio stuff tethered. I dont check every photo was I take them but, just a few here and there to make sure lighting/focus/etc is all where I want it.

Dreamstime.com / Re: DT stock rank game
« on: July 09, 2009, 12:11 »
fun little game. not too sure how fair the game is though, just because one image might be/look better than the other doesn't mean is has more sales. If the better photo is newer it has had less time to get sales.

47
I submit a new batch of photos each week. I keep a folder for each week of the month and start loading them up as I edit at the end of the week I submit the current weeks folder and move it to a "submitted" folder.

I keyword in Bridge and upload via ftp.

StockXpert.com / Re: Are you still uploading there??
« on: June 17, 2009, 15:41 »
Can't see a reason to continue. You only have to look at the sales distribution to see that soon the income will be way down. Perhaps for some of the big guns who like to upload everywhere but not for me.

Little income is still better than no income  ;)

« on: June 17, 2009, 10:07 »
Really pissed about this obviously but, cant say I didnt see it coming when IS announced they would be selling out photos at Photos.com and Jupiterimages. The thing that drives me crazy is I have about five times that amount of photos at SX then I do at IS.

My sales at SX were doing really well to with about 200% more of my sales coming from the partner sites rather than SX itself. This is really disappointing.
