30% acceptance ratio !!! that's insane. I've literally seen tons of your images at 100% and they are always awesome. There must be a major screwup somewhere at FT for you to be experiencing that. I hope they get it sorted out fast for you ... in the meantime don't stand too close .. I don't want to catch your bad luck.  ;D

what they figure they can't afford to pay their photographers as it is now so maybe if they lower their prices they will be able to somehow .. smooth move crestock.
they never paid me to the point I finally made them remove all my images .. and I'm still waiting for a payment. I'd have to check my logs to see how long it's been but it's been forever.

« on: March 22, 2010, 14:50 »
sigh .. getting closer to getting paid. I requested my final payout and account closed as soon as they announced the whole thinkstock deal. I specifically stated that I did not want my images migrated to thinkstock ... waited .. waited .. waited .. finally get a reply and it's a stupid email from istock asking me to reconsider and asking me to include my port on thinkstock .. argg I just want my money .. tell them once again I don't want to be on thinkstock .. waited some more .. today I got another reply saying I'd be paid in a couple weeks.

Way to go on ruining a perfectly good company. When it was SX I often got paid within 24 hours and sometimes the same day. At the most they would take the full 3 days to pay me. Istock takes over and now I'm looking at 2 months.

the owner said they bought the pack with resell rights but hasn't answered yet if the pack was bought directly from a legit distributor or if it's another one of those pirated ebay purchases.

8 more sales today

157
Vectors are 8 credits on FT equal to the XL

on BS that type of usage is a minimum purchase of $40 (100K downloads) and unlimited downloads is priced at $120. Most people are going to only need the $40 for a web template .. on DT they would spend $50 .. $128 on IS

1st month only 2 sub sales .. so far this month 14 sales .. 13 sub & 1 sms .. that's a far cry from competing with income from the other sites I'm uploading to but since we're talking about a completely brand new site it does make me think there's future potential for the company. I only uploaded 1000 images but I'll play along and upload the rest of my portfolio over the next couple months and see what happens.

That's odd they have 39 of my pictures but I never opened an account there. My guess is that they partner with someone but I don't get why I have only 39 there???
type your name+pixamba to find out if you are there
L

maybe partners are able to manually choose which images are used .. I don't know .. did you double check the image info to make sure you were listed as the author to make sure it wasn't somebody uploading your work as their own?

The agencies don't accept junk photos because nobody wants to buy them .. creating a massive pool of junk files all on one site isn't going to generate sales. If a photographer has lost all hopes of making sales that means they need to either crack open some books or call it quits ... not just go looking for a place that deals in photos that don't sale. Probably not something you want to hear after putting work into the site but I know I would rather somebody tell me the facts before I continued to spend money on the project.

As for the mega-photo zips ... You didn't buy them through ebay or from an individual or some goofy foreign website did you .. there's a lot of scammers out there. There are legit companies who offer those packs with resell rights .. but then again when you are getting thousands of images with resell rights for the price of one single image without resell rights .. it's going to be a bunch of junk ... but seriously if you are going to keep them on there I would seriously advise quad-druple checking to verify that they are all 100% legit. Federal judges don't care about "I was told it was ok" excuses and I would hate to see anybody get in that much trouble simply because they were new to the game.

I know I wouldn't want to take the risk of getting sent to a federal pound me in the arse penitentiary over some junk photos  ;D

I haven't looked at the site but if the members offering services are suppose to upload "their" photo I can see where it technically is wrong .. for example if some goofy 16 yr old kid in a messy trailer was using a photo of an intelligent senior business professional in a fancy office that can be very misleading .. I agree totally on that. However it's one of those things that kinda falls on a fine line and agencies have more pressing matters than somebody using a photo on their document translation services profile. But I see your point ... I wouldn't use a stock photo to represent myself either.

I wouldn't see it as a stock related concern though. Somebody mentioned it causing harm to the model. I'm not so sure about that. I don't know any models who would even care about that type of mis-usage .. somebody made me look like I knew how to translate documents .. big deal. Models are more concerned with their likeness being used in a demeaning manor .. like being used to promote a sexy escort service and all their family thinking they became a hooker or maybe that happy smiling shot of them ending up on an interstate billboard for anti-herpie cream. LOL

Wow did anyone actually go look at the site .. it is L.A.M.E !!!!!

ummm actually there is one potential problem .. the site owner has a zip file of 4600 web sized stock photos available for download at 19 credits. The thumbnail is like a screenshot of 200 thumbnails so it's impossible to say what the photos look like but if you look close I'm seeing some underwater ocean shots, isolated objects, isolated women, people, it's hard to tell what's in that zip but I'm getting a sneaky feeling that many of us might find some of our shots tucked away in that 4600 image grab bag. If those images were taken by the site owner you would think they would have them available individually on the site and they are not .. the photo section only has a few items in it .. the 4600 stock photo zip .. a 500 web graphic zip .. and then 9 snapshots of total crap. Looking at the 500 web graphic thumbnail I think I see a bunch of isolated business people at the bottom.

Oh just for the record it is an american site and the 500 zip has 3 sales so if anyone cares to take a screenshot and buy the pack to verify if you've been infringed on you can literally own this guys ass for the rest of his life  ...  1500 counts of copyright infringement WOOOOO .. he would definitely be going with a public defender because I can't imagine a lawyer wanting to go anywhere near that case ... potential max penalty of 7500 years in prison and up to 375 million dollars. That would make last years woman who got fined 1.6 million for 24 mp3s look like nothing.

When will these people ever learn?

Adobe Stock / Re: Are you new photos selling at Fotolia?
« on: March 17, 2010, 22:24 »
I've uploaded a little under 500 images in the last 3 months. Out of my last 200 sales 19 were images uploaded this year. I was never too big a fan of FT anyway .. I see a higher percentage of sub sales there.

164
2000 images they will lose a month from myself alone! Yuri has uploaded 2000 images a month average for the past few months, my record month is 3400 ...

How can this be if the previous limit was 50 images per day? That's still only 1500 per month.

The max isn't always set at 50 .. it stays there most of the time but sometimes I notice mine will say 100 and I would almost swear I saw mine top out at 200 at one point. I don't know what controls the limit, they could be doing it manually, basing it on the size of the pending list, who knows but I don't doubt Andres has been able to upload 3400 in a single month.

asking over 10,000 USD is just crazy for that site. You could easily spend $300 plus a months time and have a brand new site with an updated design and vastly improved seo standing.

168
You could do joomla + jomsocial extension ... social engine & pligg are also very popular

Microstock Services / Re: Lookstat Alternatives ??
« on: March 08, 2010, 02:45 »
I just downloaded their new trial version and after installing it says you have to buy before being able to use the tracking features ... the tracking features are the only feature Im wanting to test out LOL .. just my luck.
They should have made the trial version fully functional with a time limit instead. I don't want to spend $90 on it only to uninstall it 5 minutes later.  ;D

Can anyone with an established portfolio and daily sales verify how accurate CushyStocks earnings reports are and if you can create your own image collections to track? ... (it looks cool but the help file is almost non-existent in this thing).

Microstock Services / Lookstat Alternatives ??
« on: March 08, 2010, 00:30 »
online services ... commercial software ... anything?

I need to start tracking royalties of certain images from multiple sessions organized into collections. I know lookstat does this however I have been testing it out the last month or two and figures are coming up way off. Lookstat is very cool but I need accuracy .. preferably something not still in beta. I don't need a service that can track every single agency. I'm only concerned with SS, DT, IS & FT .... and DT isn't so much a priority because if all else fails I can track royalties by setting up additional lightboxes.

I've googled my brains out and came up with nothing.

Newbie Discussion / Re: What is wrong with my images?
« on: March 07, 2010, 00:26 »
yeah I noticed that white thread the second I saw the coconut. You always want to clean up the object your shooting before you shoot. Wipe electronics down, clean everything up, etc. You'll get better shots, less rejects and spend less time touching up in post-edit.

General Midstock / Re: What about Ingram Publishing?

I never signed with them but I found many of my images on this site  ???
2 are on the homepage.

Seems like a third party reseller, but prices for single image are not micro oriented.
I'm going to send them an email to get some info.

Best,
diego

Are your shots on the homepage only or in the database as well? I did some random searches and only came up with less than a dozen results and sometimes no results for a keyword. I would think if they were a reseller the results would be much larger. I would double check the database to make sure somebody isn't trying to claim your shots as their own. You have some awesome shots so they probably just bought yours to stick on the homepage and make themselves look better than they are .. but ya never know.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Incorrect keywords DT
« on: March 02, 2010, 18:58 »
I would like to see all the micro-engines accept keyword phrases rather than breaking up all the data into single strings. It seems like it would be the most logical solution.

In another post somebody mentioned getting flagged for the color blue and their subject was a blue collar worker. If we were able to use the keyword phrase "blue collar worker" instead of "blue", "collar", "worker" there would be no confusion in the flagging process plus there should be an improvement in search results for the buyers. Is the buyer looking for my photos of a person with brown hair and blue eyes or blue hair and brown eyes .. with single keywords there is no way of knowing.
