@Wilm easy don't select images that sell on Adobe or anyplace other. From experience, very few images are selected.

If the OP is the original artist, they will re-instate his account and return the money.

Are you Shutterstock liason? Curious how you state as fact.

No I'm not, I wouldn't take that job, and no I'm not a fan of being cut down or what has happened recently. I'm just asking for a little bit of patience.

When we ask for action, they take time, then some people become hostile, because SS doesn't act fast enough. When they do make a mistake and close an account, that shouldn't be closed, some will say they acted too fast. We have seen over time, that the mistakes are eventually corrected.

That's all. I said IF, don't twist my words please.

You can have fast action, or allow for agency investigations into details. But you can't have review of theft without some errors. I hate to see someone wrongly accused of something they haven't done.

My personal hope is that the OP will come back and tell us that the unfortunate error was corrected and his earnings and account were fully restored. In the past they have been.

What's your point in accusing me which has nothing to do with the actual situation?

😳
I asked a question. Would be good to have a direct liason with SS in here like adobe do. You should take your own advice and stop being so hostile. If you do not like responses to the tomes you write, you should perhaps restrict what you have to say to prevent anyone daring to interact with you. Something I will not attempt again. How aggressive.

We once had that on Shutterforum. I remember Alex (admin) preventing someone's account from being closed because of a false accusation of having too many Similars. Nice to have someone like that. But that was a long time ago. I don't think they are closing the forum to let admins join in on Microstock afterwards to help.  :)
I read your answer as well as the others, that you had doubts about Pete.
Now that everyone's rightfully up for Pete, you're attacking him for answering at length.
I've known Pete for a long time too. Apparently a detailed explanation is useful. Because nobody understood your brief explanation. (Are you Shutterstock liason? Curious how you state as fact. By which you meant: Would be good to have a directliason with SS in here like adobe do.)

I'm afraid we gauge 'everyone' and 'everybody' substantially differently. If you and 'everybody' assume aggression  from my question despite a clarifying answer, this says something about your perceptions or interpretations of things. But please think whatever you wish it is apparent that your mind has been made up. And nothing it seems can change that. Even the truth. Odd behaviour indeed.

You are the one accusing and hostile, that's why some here have asked you to calm down. SS did have contacts and all that happened was they were attacked personally, accused, insulted and much treated like you do to somebody here. Other agencies also had liasons who gave up and left, because of lack of civil questions or discussion. That's why the agencies don't send anyone anymore, people like you.

General Stock Discussion / Re: This month's sales

How are your sales going this month?
Mine are not good at all (only on SS and Wirestock)
I keep my expectations very low and then it's hard to be disappointed.
I'd have low expectations if my main model was a dolls head.

Once SS and Adobe launch their free asset collections, it will be the coup de grace for contributors. I hope I'm wrong
Adobe has already launched their free asset collection in 2020.
SS has not announced any plans to launch any free collction at all so far.
That's about to change unfortunately.
It's to be expected, but so far it's still only speculation.

There is a free collection right now.

Yes I am in the US but that doesn't change morality or the laws. Our system is based on the English system.
Ha, Scots Law is NOT based on the English system, but has been influenced by it, and EU law, in some aspects.
We share income tax laws with England, but we can set our own rates, which are currently 1% lower for lower incomes and 1% more for higher incomes.
Oh, I think the OP must be outwith Scotland, as he mentioned 40%, which isn't a Scottish tax rate.

All is not the same taxes or government. In Canada we pay according to this
Tax Rate
 15%     on the first $49,020     $49,020
 20.5%     on the next $49,020      $49,021 up to $98,040
 26%     on the next $53,939     $98,041 up to $151,978
 29%     on the next $64,533      $151,979 up to $216,511
33%     on the portion over $216,511     $216,512 and up

Federal Parliament deals mainly with issues that concern Canada as a whole, makes laws, Australia and the United States also have federal systems. The UK has a unitary system. Accountants and lobbies don't make the tax laws in any of these.

New Sites - General / Re: Stockphoto.com?
« on: January 03, 2021, 09:21 »

So fast signed as not available? I guess Deposit is driving that Stockphot.com not someone else.

I am not so sure about that, acording to the legal information Stockphoto.com is loated in Australia, but Depositphotos doesn't even have an office in Australia. I rather think it's a partner site, just a bit strange that you can't find any information about that on Stockphoto.

Not really hard to find. https://blog.stockphoto.com/how-to-ask-your-wife-for-permission-to-spend-250-000-on-a-domain-name-c27a3c2852e1

"WhAt PerCenTage aRe ThEy  PaYiNg!!!  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:("

I know you want a simple answer but sometimes things are little more complicated.

I have just explained and broken down how they calculate the percentages for sub downloads (after you said sub calculations had nothing to do with percentage tier levels).

Plug in whatever numbers you like and you can see that the answer is far less than they claim in real terms, because they calculate using the assumption that a buyer downloads their full allowance. For anyone outside the lowest tiers, i.e. anyone whos income is really going to be effected by this, this results in getting a much lower REAL percentage than Shutterstock claim (because they would be earning more than 10c in every REAL scenario).

You may be able to come up with scenarios like well if I am tier 1 and the buyer uses 100% of their mega sub package downloads I get more than 15% on those first 100 dls for the year but honestly, why would you work so hard to jam another guys foot up your own a**.

Another example, if I am level 3 and buyer has 750 monthly pack, Shutterstock payment for the sub:

$199/750 images= .26c per image 25%= 6.6c/dl so they raise it to the 10c floor (wOw I aM gEtTiNg 38%!!!!)

If the buyer actually uses 50% of their downloads (again, they dont but lets be generous) what 25% would actually be:

$199/375 images= .53c per image 25%= .13c/dl

Congrats you just got ****** out of third of your income and are cheerleader for the people doing it.

You may want someone to spoon feed you an exact percentage, but without access to Shutterstock's accounts no one can. I doubt thats an accident on their part. If they were being honest/ transparent I wouldnt have to. It would all be on the table and we could take it or leave it. Theres several ways they could do this, even if it meant basing payouts on a previous months percentages used and correcting the following month, but here we are.

You assume nobody downloads their full allowance, $199/375 images= .53c per image 25%= .13c/dl you want them to pay us .36c a download 68% on every sale.

iStock does base on previous month and corrects for used on the following month. We get 15% / .02c minimum. $199/750 images= .26c per image we would get .039c per download. You are a cheerleader for that .04c plan that pays the promised % a month later, 60% less.

LOL yeah, we all know the difference.

Based on some of the comments here I'm not so sure about the "all" part.

Apophenia, the tendency to incorrectly, infer patterns or connections in unrelated input, can be considered a commonplace effect of brain function. Taken to an extreme, however, it can be a symptom of psychiatric dysfunction. Paranoia

You should follow your own rules.

LOL Your truth, maybe. To me, that sounds a lot like Trump and the Republicans. Just watch Trumps ads. Just listen to the names Trump et al. love calling people. Just watch Trump rallies and the violence. 🙄

You can say that a billion times, but it still doesnt make it true. The people, the popular vote, elected HRC. The electoral college and its aforementioned-in-great-length flaws, elected Trump.

😂

Reply #14 first from you this thread.

With so much competition, the Agencies decide who sells and who does not. Clients can find you, but Agencies can also work to find their clients that file they are looking for, that they know where it is and that the normal client cannot find.

Freepik grants benefits to its Ambassadors, that is, if the Agency is spoken well on social media, they are supposed to appoint you as Ambassador. The benefit of being an ambassador is that the Agency gives more visibility to the portfolio if you are an Ambassador.

It is not about quantity or quality, the market is so aggressive between agencies and among collaborators themselves, that agency promotes good ideas from collaborators. Enhancing the competition of that particular possible niche.

Agencies sell what Agencies want to sell, regardless of the fact that in the end, a client can find you. But, it is likely, that I will have to spend more time finding you if the Agency has you with a red or yellow traffic light.

If you are looking for a red light bulb, in an office. And in the search, pumpkins appear, it is likely that the Agency understands that this specific pumpkin must have maximum visibility. Before any search, or be similar to 100% of all the images that a client looks for this month. The pumpkin that they are going to offer will appear to each client, this affects the sale of that specific pumpkin, although there may be others of higher quality, commercial, modern, .......

I've been working my ass off keywords and descriptions, trying to make buyers see my pictures and you tell me agencies hide me and play favorites to sell what they want to sell? How does that work? How do I become a favorite so they sell me.

Yes, counting all people as actual people is more progressive. However, its important to point out that the only reason enslaved people were counted as 3/5 of a person was because slave owners wanted more power. It had nothing to do with recognizing black people as actual human beings with their own rights, especially the right to vote the way they wanted to.

Not that white men in the north were much better at the time. But at least you could say they werent hypocrites...they didnt consider anyone but themselves real people, so in their twisted minds all of us non-people shouldnt count when it came to voting. White men in the south didnt consider anyone but white male landowners as people either...except when it came to voting, and then suddenly they wanted them included...but not to be able to actually vote themselves.

Power all about power.

The fact is that the electoral college was designed to give conservatives a bigger voice than their actual numbers should give them, and that legacy continues today, with Republican losers becoming president anyway. All other offices use the popular vote...theres absolutely no reason for the presidential vote to be any different.
ah, your mistaken belief is that conservatives were the slave owners in the first place.

No, my correct knowledge that conservatives were slave owners. Before the 1960's conservatives were called Democrats, but the parties flipped, and today conservatives are called Republicans. They may have a different name, but they're the same set of people who declared war on their own country in order to keep slavery alive, who created the electoral college to count their slaves as 3/5 of a person when they voted so they'd have outsized power, and still try today to push everyone who isn't white and male aside. And that includes trying every trick in the book to keep black people from voting...the descendants of the very people they once counted as 3/5 of a person when they cast their votes.

The parties never flipped. That's the biggest myth perpetrated by the left because they're so ashamed of their history. The Democrats are the party of slavery, KKK and Jim Crow. All they did was change their strategy, but they still used the same tactics today. If you look at the values of the Republican party for the last 100 years, the values are still the same. Instead of keeping blacks on the plantation, Democrats just keep them on welfare and public assistance. Shifting from one from of control to another.

 ::)

Democratic revisionist history claiming the parties flipped. The Democrat's saw the Republicans getting votes in the South from minority groups and they wanted those. This is all about votes and power. LBJ was right to stand up to the Dixiecrats who didn't support him or civil rights. The Klan and the Southern Democrat's didn't switch in the 60s, that took decades of slow change. The Republican's started out supporting civil rights and still do. How's that a flip?

it is not, because they remove fake reviews whenever detected, but you cannot stop them all. its one of the better review sites out there

Just this evening, I wrote a 5* review on TrustPilot (not stock related) then looked through my other reviews. Only my 5* reviews remain: my others, from 4* down to 1*, have disappeared. I never got any notification about them being removed.

If they pay 0.05 for each picture to the reviewer, then there are no humans involved when the program runs. Seems to be automatic.

Ask Laurin Rinder he worked 3 years for Bigstock researching his best selling book.

@LaurinRinder was a reviewer? Why doesn't he answer what they got paid on Bigstock? After they sold to SS the contract is done, not secret.

Why would he answer? Every time he posts here, people call him names.

Names?

Earlier in August, CyberLink announced two new Shutterstock deals for accessing stock images, video & music from within their apps

For the purchased iOS and Android apps, it appears you buy the photos with a small subscription. With the subscription apps, the Shutterstock content is "free" and appears to be just a subset of the library - 30k videos, 150k images and 300 music clips

https://www.facebook.com/cyberlink/videos/shutterstock-photo-library-now-in-photodirector-app-%EF%B8%8F-update-your-app-now-%EF%B8%8F-look/319437999198523/

https://www.cyberlink.com/products/photodirector-photo-editing-software-365/comparison_en_US.html

It's not clear what the contributor will receive from the "free" downloads, but as it's a subset of the total library, perhaps some sort of deal was worked out with the contributors

This is the video on CyberLink's site that mentions the number of images, videos & music clips for PowerDirector 365

https://www.cyberlink.com/learning/powerdirector-video-editing-software/3042/using-shutterstock%E2%80%99s-media-library-powerdirector-365

Here's the video for PhotoDirector

https://www.cyberlink.com/learning/photodirector-photo-editing-software/3072/using-shutterstock's-media-library-photodirector-365

I don't see anything that restricts further use of the images in other applications or projects, but as users get to download the file, I assume they get an RF license to use it broadly.

Shutterstock had said they planned to do more of these API deals, so this isn't a surprise, but I find it depressing that our content is increasingly being used as an enticement to subscribe to something else (in which we don't get a share of the revenue).

Watch for subs from Taipei Taiwan?

10c subs I didn't sign up for SS to give away free pictures.
