surely from here on in we'll only see XL sales? why bother with sizing at all? as a buyer of course i'd always choose the largest size possible. could any of us be bothered resizing images for iStock down to something a bit more modest, and keeping larger sizes on other sites?

No, I need a towel for my tears And many thanks to everyone for birthday congratulations!
Its not a big deal, as foregoing downfall for me in micro-stock I have tried out to sell some prints with traditional framing, and after all this endless seeming digital world, images on paper feels so good. I recommend to everyone to try out this too, believe me, for a change this activity have a nice touch and feels enjoyable, and by the way, for me selling some framed set I earned quite much more than during whole year in stock.
Have a nice weekend,
Kalevi
sorry to hear that, I love your port. Do you only do b&w?

interesting, but the cost of a chopper flight (heck, 5 chopper flights to get good weather) is far, far less. I know he says "right place, right time" but still... $35000? has that been converted to US$? that's a lot of money for a South African. good luck to him.

those images look a lot like the portfolio I had when i came out of photography college. technically great but missing some heart. keep going, you'll find your stride.

looks like it's contagious. about 6 weeks ago I had a large US delivery company ask to use one of pics, that she referred to a "more of a snapshot" then went on to compliment the rest of my work and cried poor and offered to credit my name. I emailed her back saying she was welcome to licence the photo for a fee or else she could go and "snap" one of her own.... never heard back.

they do also look at your other portfolio links, this is why the process can take so long. good luck.

this could be a different question for us girls, as we tend to carry a handbag wherever we go, so my d700+50mm is a good combo.

I would err on the side of caution with this one. at time of shooting that model could not have approved those images, it's an interesting question: do they now have adult control over their past images? will my own children, upon turning 18, demand all <18yo images of them at various sites be removed? if they can sign for their junior self then surely they can also question the signed release?
I would say they can't sign for their <18 self. but if you got away with it, and you think there's no drama in the future, then go for it.

well not just yet of course, you've got to reach payout... It's been a slow month at 123. officially WMY, in fact worst month for well over a year.

well you can keep eating your caged chicken eggs all you like, but I prefer my hens to enjoy freeranging.

I would also say that in the early days I loved the knowledge here, and as a newbie I know this place brought me up to speed very quickly. However, I was still a successful person in my own life (in another realm) but that counted for nought. Still does. I come here now to catch up with the latest developments. For positivity I go elsewhere. It's a shame that this can't also be a place to discuss new trends and encourage/support each other, but it's not. It's actually a bit toxic.
Frankly, if 80% don't like what I say then I know i'm still on the right track - I live with the 20%.

I have a real answer: I live in the whitest place on the planet! (I do have a couple models but not what you are looking for though.) I moved to central Canada from Toronto and the lack-of-diversity was shocking!
I'm sorry, I find this odd. If I went to Kenya and lamented on the lack of Whiteys and Asians wouldn't you think I was nuts? frankly, only whiteys are crazy enough to live in such cold climes And I might also challenge you with where I live as being the whitest place on the planet (apart from Ireland, and much of Scandinavia of course). The most "different" kids in my daughter's class at school are the 3 red heads!! I wonder if there's fewer sexy red heads in stock (not women!)? anyone want to lament that?

I boycott anything that glamourises foxes, for they are nasty creatures that like to prey on smaller, weaker but far more beautiful and useful creatures than themselves.

there is no way i could pay model in my country and earn some money, no way!
I see your comment and raise you: australia! it's going to be increasingly more difficult for those us from the so-called "successful" countries, where coffee is $4 and hourly rates are $22+ (lol, unless you're a plumber, then it's $80/hr) and a house costs x10 your annual salary. Luckily I don't do this as a full-time income source, but I can report: Stocksy BME SS BMY and nearly BME others were very ordinary. Not quite enough to pay the plumber and electrician's bill... if only they were better looking I could try using them as models.

^agree, although it's not my style either (i'm just way too uptight to shoot a blur like this), this is exactly what Stocksy does well: pushing the boundaries on what is stock, on what is trending. It does that very well. Jen's blog post is excellent, and has reminded me to go back to my own aesethic a little more. Good luck to those who apply and I look forward to seeing you in the forums over there. It's a very different place.

As to the images themselves, there's really only one that I would be reluctant to include. It has had over 500 sales across all agencies along with multiple EL's, including an EL on DT. Of the others, they have all sold only in the single digits or not at all on DT and have relatively low sales numbers elsewhere (except for one that has had 100+ sales, mostly at SS).
ditto, I had a look and there is a broad range of stuff included, and one is a best seller but the rest not so much, and two that are SIMILAR!! omg. how could they. I'd like to ask DT if staff are also working for free to roll out this project? Not just a little bit of overtime for free, completely for free, with a hint of a promise that maybe they'll get paid.

I haven't checked in on Alamy in a long time, only to discover 2 sales, one for Nov 2013 and one for March this year. Pretty sure I had checked in at the end of last year, do they take a long time to show sales? I haven't uploaded there in 9 months, might throw them a few more as I think they've just outdone 123 (and i've hit payout I think). I'm off to work out how to get that money out.

(forgive me, I didn't read all 14 pages of this thread, this may have been already said)
don't DT already have a free images section? why not use those?
