I asked in Hacienda, what i suposse is the equivalent to the IRS.
Anyway, Hacienda is the statal entity where you have to pay your taxes and VAT, if you are a particular cityzen you just have to make a yearly declaration (you are only obligated to do it when you earn more than X money a year), if you are an enterprise you are obligated to make a declaration and pay the VAT and taxes each 3 months, acordingly with what you have billed in that period.
What i dont understand is why would we have to do this if we dont make any bill.
So my initial thought was i would have to declare this once a year as any citizen

First off all, Im not making serious money, i somehow making a decent salary a month.
I just wanted to know how could i declare this income, and so i asked the IRS equivalent here (Hacienda) and they told me that i needed to be registered as an economic activity, and so on.

Theres no need to be a company. Thats just bull...    But if youre making serious money its always the best thing.
( taxdeduction for equipment etc )

Again this is country dependent, but please, explain to me how do you declare or justify this earnings.

128
Well, this is obviously something very different from one country to other, but what i was trying to ask is if everyone in this industry is a "company" or "enterpise" as it would be if you sell photos in a local in your street. Because thats what they told me in the IRS.
I cant translate the terminology used here  but guess the right is what you use, self-employed business (autonomo), wich means i HAVE to pay the SOCIAL SECURITY fee stated above.
I know many people here do this as a hobby, so i seriusly doubt everybody is doing this.
I of course want to pay my taxes, thats why i went to ask how i could declare my incomes from this. Whay i didnt think was that i needed to becoma an self-employed company, i thought one as particular couls just declare the income and pay proportionally.
It would very helpfull for me to her from other Spanish citizens.

ENGLISH:
Hello:
Today i went to the IRS just to ask out of curiosity how would i declare my microstock incomes in the end of the year. Well, obviusly they were not put to day in this bussines, but they seem to think i have to be registered as an economic activity or enterprise as any other activity that makes me win money, here in Spain it means also to pay about 350$ monthly for the social security. Is this correct, i cant believe it. These agencies advertise them selves as anyone can upload and sell images as a particular.

SPANISH:
Hola:

Thank you

Exactly the same hare:
I last uploaded 10 files via FTP 2 or 3 days ago but can't submit them. When I go to "workspace" the page usually doesn't load at all or it sometimes loads but then it doesn't see the files, or at times it'll load and will show "beginning file processing" but is just stuck and nothing happens.

Maybe we broke it alread  ;D

i had my 10 firs approved in a couple of days, and the next day i uploaded 100 more and all are aproved now, dont keep the count of days but it was less than a week.
What i really like is that when an image doesnt meet their keyword criteria, the image got back to the workarea with a note on the problem and you can just delete the irrelevant words and send again to review, How sweet is that?

today my limit was improved to 106??? i uploaded 58 in the morning and now i can upload 74 more???

One thing i dont know is about model releases, i have some photos of a frien who at the time signed some MR from other stocks agencies, could i use some of that MR?, because she lives in another city so far away...

134
Ok. It sure make sense what almost every of you say, and i will follow your advise.
Thank you

Hello:
I was asked by an Istock client to make some custom modifications on an image. Its a 3d render, and im willing to do what he is asking for, but i dont have experience on this.
He ask me how much i will charge him. Could some of you give me an aproximation on this field, i dont have any idea in this matter.
I have an CG architectural visualization business, so delivering custom imagery for a client is my job, but of course the prices dont have anything in comon with microstock, so im a litlle lost here, because i cant charge him hundreds of dollars as i would do in my bussines.

Another thing is, how you recieve the payment, via paypal for example?, is this made apart from the micro site? etc.

Please some experienced in this field enlight me because im a little lost here.

Thank you

Adobe Stock / Re: Big drop in Fotolia sales, only me?
« on: June 15, 2009, 09:10 »
It seems to me too drascyc to say MASSIVE drop when you are talking about 7 sales. With those numbers you cant really guess any tendency in the general market, it seems to me more a bad coincidence that you had these weeks, probably will pick up again in the future. Particulary for me is as good seller site as ever.
good luck

Im resurrecting this post because i have made the test this month.
I changed the payout method from some sites to moneybookers so i could compare at real time between the two on witch one geve me more money for the same amount of dollars and i found that they are practically the same. Even if paypal charges a bigger percentage, it seems they can obtain a cheaper mayorist price for the money, because its almost the same as MB charging less percentage.
On the other hand i found the payout more slow, i guess most agencies (0r at least the ones iv tried, SS, IS, XP) pay before to paypal than others.
But the most significant think i found out is that MB automatically changes to EUROS when the money is recieved, so i didnt have the chance to wait for the best moment to make the exchange, wich is the main reason why ive decided to stay with paypal.
Just my experience at this matter.
Cheers.

Perseus:
Why should you become exclusive at your 2nd year (or whatever), i could only think 1 reason why exclusiveness could be an avdantage, and thats easyness to upload and manage the files. Is that why you are willing to go exclusive?

Veer / Re: Veer Marketplace Launch Timing Clarification
« on: June 11, 2009, 04:04 »
Just a question i couldnt find anywhere else answered.
For how much time is the 100 images limit? i mean is that 100 images a week, or until they are reviewed, or what?
Thank you.

Veer / Re: Veer Marketplace Opens for Submissions!
« on: June 10, 2009, 12:22 »
Well i got this reply from support today:

"Hi Pablo,

The approval process requires that you submit the 10 initial images which must in turn be approved before you can submit anymore.  I believe the error stemmed from the fact that you were trying to upload more images before your 1st 10 had been approved by our editors.

I see your initial 10 have now been approved so I don't the same problem should crop up again.

Regards,
"

As i said before, i was aproved the day before i start to submit more images, i had a limit of 100 images to upload.
Eitherway it seems they just delete the files from the server, and now i could just try again and all went sweet since then, now im uploading my 100 images quota in batches of 20 just in case, and all looks fine now, the process is easy and if you dont have any issue it fast.
About the earning stats, i read somewhere that they will send you monthly a report via mail with sales and earning information, untill the data is available on the web.
Cheers

Shutterstock.com / IRS withhold_Veer Marcketplace Vs SS
« on: June 09, 2009, 14:01 »
Well: I just complete my personal information at veer marketplace and was very surprised when i saw this in their US TAX information.

First of all i only had to fill an on-line form, and second, it says that if you are the rights holder, you DONT need an ITIN.
So what . is SS doing all this all the sudden, are they badly informed or legal advised or what?

Please can anybody help me with my problem??
how did you do guys to re-upload the images without keywords (or the keywords added with another program) my images wont process but i cant delete them or overwrite them either via FTP.
Im stuck in a loop here, every time i acces the page automatically start to proces the images and ended up with the same "uncknown error" just to re try again and again.
thank you

well:
I have my 10 initial images approved, now i try to upload 10 more from FTP and when i go to the page it takes ages to make the procesing files, and then they all give me uncknown error, then it just automatically try again and again always with the same result, so im not able to do anithing else there.
I tried to delete the files from my ftp client (filezilla) but i cant do that either. So what can i do now? i just want to delete those images and try to upload from the web.
Maybe all this errors are due to a masive traffic in the servers these days?

General Stock Discussion / Re: istockcharts have been slowed
« on: June 06, 2009, 17:09 »
Sharply_done: Where did you gat a chart like that, is from a software? I also liked to check my istockchart situation avery day, i even like it more than going to the IS page itself, so i think its a pitty to loose that tool, even if it was just a self confidence tool, as you say its motivation what makes us work to improve our sales each month.

Hello again:
Just want to say that i got a fast message from Bobbigmc answering to my previous post, and i could easily solve my problems and log in to all the sites, now its really helpful to have an actualization of sales at a glance.
Thak you.

hello:
I have just instaled this plugin and i like it a lot, looks very helpfull to me.

Im finding two problems right now:
first it cant log in to SS, but i guess this is due to their recently gotcha thing isnt it? Is it any way to over pass this?
Second, i get no response from IS, although i ahave installed the latest version (1.0.16) it sais IS:null, so i guess it CAN actually login as i didnt get an error like with SS, but it doesnt get any information from IS.

Any guess what could be happening?

Dosnt it say that the 1.3% rate is for OTHER CURRENCIES, apart from US, EUR and GBP??
I dont know for sure, its a bit confusing as it says that 0.95% will be added to the interbank rate.
Well im not and aconomist and that text is not written in my lenguage, so dont really understand it, thats why i was asking for a particular example.
Cheers

well when i say hope the dollar rise, im talking about the fluctuations that can be seen in the past weeks, it vary from 1.29 to 1.36, of course im not waiting it to be 1=1 as it was years ago.
BTW, i am considering the switch to MB since it looks cheaper than PP, here in the forum i found the comparison fees:

This might be the reason why I make more money with moneybookers than with paypal.

From the paypal site:-

If your transaction involves a currency conversion, it will be completed at a retail foreign exchange rate determined by PayPal, which is adjusted regularly based on market conditions. This exchange rate includes a 2.5% spread above the wholesale exchange rate at which PayPal obtains foreign currency, and the spread is retained by PayPal. The specific exchange rate that applies to your multiple currency transaction will be displayed at the time of the transaction.

http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/fees-outside

From the moneybookers site:-

For transactions involving a currency conversion, we use the daily reference rates as published by the European Central Bank. However, 0.95% will be added to the interbank rate wherever there is an exchange of currency between EUR, USD or GBP. For transactions involving exchange of any other currency, we add 1.3%. This is not a hidden charge but a protection against the volatility and risk associated with FX markets.

http://www.moneybookers.com/app/faq.pl?gid=2&qid=718

Just to clarify this and see the actual difference, could someone make a simulation on translating 1.000 dollars to Euros, right now in PP this exchange would be 1.000=718,00 (0.718005) It would be nice if someone could test this in MB

The only reason holding me back to switch is that i thought the payment with MB was somehow slow and/or conflictive, but this might due to some topics i read with personal experiencies, maybe nothing to worry about in general.
So is your experience with MB good?
Im still waiting the answer from PP about the possibility to be paid in dollars, but i think this cant be made.
Thank you for you time.
Cheers.

araminta and Whitechild.
Are you sure of this? because what i read in the paypal page is that when you withdraw the money it gets translated to you local coin.
Anyway, i have just send paypal an email asking just that.
Cheers
