Yaymicro / Re: 1st Quarter 2011 Third Party Sales
« on: September 23, 2011, 17:52 »
Oops! Well, I guess I have to retract my previous "happy" comment. When I looked on my totals before posting my comment, it was four times higher than last time. Just went back a few minutes ago to request a payout and the amount had changed to only 9.71 euros, which is about two-thirds less than last time. Not sure what happened. Hope I didn't make someone mad with my emails ( :)).

I am MUCH happier with this 3rd party qtr! I don't have my report from last time in front of me but, if I remember correctly, this one is about 4 times higher. I'm feeling a little better about this now. Just hope they can get the payment timing thing and accounting part of the site straightened out. It's a wee bit unsettling to not be able to see what you are making for a sale and where it is coming from. I know they keep saying something is going to be available soon, so I am anxiously waiting for "soon" to get here.  ;D

Yaymicro / Re: API sale ?
« on: September 22, 2011, 23:29 »
Hi!

You'll get information on the price range on our API-for-photographer page: http://yaymicro.com/api-details.action

And we're working on giving you better numbers on API sale and stat-page. Hopefully we'll have it in place soon! You are ensured to get a 50/50 split of what we get, at all times. You do not get the money on you account before we've received payment from our distributors, as we need to protect our cash flow.

Thanks,

Linda :)

Anything further on this, Linda? I just had an API sale (PixMac) a few days ago. I've looked everywhere, but I don't see anything on any of the pages where I have been credited for it. Still don't know how much (specifically, not percentage) I made on it.

I tried all day yesterday and again to night, but still can't upload. If you are having problems, YAY, can you please post something here and let us know an ETA on getting it fixed so we aren't sitting in the dark? Thanks.

Hi Linda! I'm just curious - what has to be "negotiated"? If they are a vendor and used our images already, wasn't a deal already in place? I guess that's where I'm confused as to the negotiation part, unless i'm misunderstanding something here, which is very possible.  :D

How cool is that! Thanks. I really, really, REALLY hate keywording, but this will help a lot.

I wrote Jan back on 6/2 inquiring. He's usually pretty quick to respond, but I haven't heard anything yet on it.

Thanks, Linda. Yeah, when I went back the third time, I typed it LivingLife. It didn't dawn on me at first because the login isn't. It's all good now, though.  ;D

Well, either you work REALLY fast, or it fixed itself. It now works. Thanks!

Linda - I tried adding "livinglife" (username) to the link you gave above, but it doesn't work. It just shows 0 images and no slideshow is presented, just a bar at the bottom where the slideshow should be.

Edit: Also, I just checked it again. When you click on the link for "rest of my images" it brings up a search page to set the criteria, but no images at all. So it appears none of my images are showing up.

Yaymicro / Re: Third part sales - 2010 4th quarter
« on: March 29, 2011, 00:05 »
I wrote to YAY and got a response from Jan back on 3/11 that they had received all the monies and should be rolling out payments the next week. So hopefully we'll be seeing something soon.  :)

Yaymicro / Re: Who has had sales at YayMicro ?
« on: March 01, 2011, 12:20 »
Okay, this new information says a port of minimum 500 pics. I don't think it was that high when I was accepted back in the beginning. So, Linda, I'm "assuming" the oldies get grandfathered in regardless of number of pics in their port?

Now, this second question is not to stir the "ugly" pot, but I'm just curious. The 3rd party info says that most of the images would probably be distributed to clients on CD or DVD because of where the clients are and because they haven't moved into the technological age we are presently in. It said it is nearly impossible to get an accurate record of the sales. So how do you (YAY) know exactly how many of our images have been sold by them to be able to give photogs (and you) proper credit if there is no way to really track it? I'm just wondering how accounting can actually be done if it can't really be tracked? :-)

I'd welcome any kind of trend in sales.  :)

Thanks! And I closed the year with a new sale! :D

Yes, we have to submit in CMYK, what for me represents one more step, as I can not do it properly from PSP. I prepare the template in PSP, then I copy it and paste it to a blank template in AI, which I then export as CMYK TIFF.

There was recently a thread discussing other ways of doing this, even a software that can do this conversion, but I can not find it!

I think it is the FastStone image resizer, it converts batches to CMYK and changes to DPI 300 at the same time. Very handy, and runs in Linux under Wine as well for those who use Linux.

I just downloaded FastStone image resizer. I took an old business card that I have on my Zazzle site and did the CMYK conversion. The only problem I have with it is that the colors are very dull and nowhere as good as the original. I tried the option they have for revising the image in the program, and it lets you supposedly see what the changes are going to look like. Looked pretty good on the screen, but when I did the conversion there didn't appear to be any change to it. If anyone here has any experience with this program, I'd love to communicate with you about it. I use PSE5, do not have AI, so I'm a little limited here. Would appreciate any help I could get with this. On second thought, would it be better to start a new thread under software?

Congratulations Madelaide! I was going to try to get things going with them quite some time ago but couldn't. I don't have software to convert to cmyk. Is that still the requirement, or can you submit files in sRGB or RBG?

Thanks David and Warren for your responses. David, I did find the YAY listing after I posted and was able to read through a few things. Guess I'll just hang loose like everyone else. Just seems unusual for them to not at least post some kind of update. But could be Christmas is slowing things down with people taking off. I guess that's what happens when you have a small crew working and doing everything. Hope you all had a great Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.  Carolyn

Didn't there used to be a thread that was supposed to be the main one for YAY communications? The one that was supposed to take the place of their forum? I can't seem to find it now. Can someone point me to it. I've sent messages to YAY but am not getting a response from them. Curious as to whether anyone has seen third-party results from the 3rd qtr yet. 4th qtr will be over soon and still nothing from end of September. Thanks.

Great! Thanks, Linda.

Linda - Your post here says if you put up a banner in December, you are entered. In the email I got, it said "if you add an affiliate link and banner today". I have two questions. Okay, guys, don't laugh too hard. Sometimes, I need to have a picture drawn for me. LOL!

  • Am I going to be disqualified because my banner went up on November 30, not in December?
  • Do I need an "affiliate link" (i.e., a text link) and a banner, or does the banner suffice? The email said "and".

Thanks!

Oh, Poo!, Leaf. I read the subject line in my email (Yay 3rd Party sales posted) and thought they had been posted.  ;D

21
Yes, thanks so much, Linda. It was late last night when I was reading it. Probably should have waited until this morning.  ;D Will look forward to all the kinks getting worked out. Have been looking for this for a long time now. Appreciate your help.

One other question - I was just reading the part about the 20% discount given for our referral's first purchase. The way I am reading it, it looks like I am paying for the advertising, not YayMicro:

Thats the best part, you will be able to give customers a 20% discount on all our deals. All referred customers will get a 20% discount on the first purchase, no matter what they buy. This means youll make 20% less on the first sale, but increase the chance of getting a recurring customer. People love discounts.

Am I reading this wrong?

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. I would never have known about this new program had I not come here looking for something else. It seems a little silly to have to go to another site just to find out information about YayMicro. I still liked it better when the forum was where it belonged - on YayMicro. Maybe an alternative to not putting this information on YayMicro would be to at least send email to the contributors so they would know what is going on. For some reason, I'm not getting the notices from this site anymore, either. Not sure why.

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly in a previous post, Linda. Do referrals that we had before this program started count for anything, or do we just lose any benefit from them?

Thanks.

Something's going on ... good! For the last several quarters, all the sales I was getting were the 3rd party. I've had several since 8/25, so things are starting to look better. Whatever you're doing, YAY, keep it going!  ;D

...But it just seems to be getting longer and longer for them to get the money from the other people. This time it was 9 weeks. Hopefully, they will be able to improve on that. ...

Last year they reported third party earnings on August 1st as well, so I'm not sure it is getting any slower.

This is September 1st, so that would be a whole month later than last year, at least by my calculations (7/1/10 - 9/1/10). Sorry, wasn't trying to be negative, just making a statement that it was taking longer. I know YAY is doing all they can do, and they can't pay us until they get the money from the third parties. I'm just happy to be getting these payments period and am a happy camper.
