Newbie Discussion / Re: PSD useful?
« on: February 23, 2013, 08:30 »
I see blown highlights, heavy noise under the syringe, and I would clone out the BD which is likely a trademark manufacturer name on the far left.

I recently bought a NEX-5R mainly for timelapse and video.  Its APC-C and 16mp.  With the 18-55 zoom its not exactly "pocketable", I use a small bag on my belt, but with a pancake prime or the new 16-50 it would be "pocketable".

I think the video is better than my Canon 60D, even though the bitrate isn't as high.  It shoots both 60p and 60i.  Its on the Alamy approved list as well.  I have had several videos and a timelapse accepted on both pond5 and SS in the 2 weeks I have had it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Payout delays at Fotolia?
« on: February 04, 2013, 22:45 »
I requested a payout via paypal last night, and this morning around 12 hours later, they sent email saying I was paid and its in my paypal account.  I don't ever remember it being that fast.  Strange.....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Dreamstime refusals not logical

Looks like to me the brick wall on the left side is in better focus than the closed blooms on top and the right side in full of blown highlights when viewed in photoshop.

Like Luis, I made a sale on FAA about 10 days after I uploaded with this picture of the Historic Florida State Capital Building for $30 for a rolled print.

I also am considering the paid account.

So it's up to 8,696 images now.  :o

Worse than I thought.  >:(

Thanks for the link. I didn't see any way to tally up the total number of images included in the list. Does anyone know if this is up to date?

1-100 of 8696 images (100 per page. Page 1)  --this text located just under the search box.  Kenny said that 14 new ones were added on 1/18 but I don't know when the others "hit the page"

Sad news indeed.  He always had a great collection of aviation themed images, that I admired greatly.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Android Apps for Stock
« on: December 16, 2012, 19:50 »
I reported to David the app developer, that for some reason Canstockphoto had stopped updating after their recent site page change.  Two days later he offered to send me an updated version that works flawlessly.  Amazing service for a valuable android app!

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 Rating as Mid Tier

I found this article months ago covering this issue, and thought it was useful reading.

I have been using microstock Report on my android tablet and phone for the last 6 months, and I had no problem purchasing it from the Slideme.org website.  I like the widget that sits on a page with a brief view, and the ability to open the application and see more details.

I like how android is more flexible and has several places to get apps instead of the limited Apple app store.

113
When using Streamclip I have always used Apple Motion jpeg B @ 92% quality for my Canon 60D.  Some guide I read said there wasn't much point saving over 92% quality.  I haven't had any problems with Pond 5 or SS, using those settings.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Has anyone got a fuji hs30 or used one
« on: August 12, 2012, 19:36 »
Only problem is tiny sensor size - typical APS-C 11 times larger sensor than the Fuji HS30 which would likely make getting pics accepted at stock sites an uphill battle, but it has a large zoom range.  Would be great for a "just for fun" ultra zoom, but I would rather use the Nikon Coolpix P510 for that.

Veer / Re: Dashboard Issues?
« on: July 15, 2012, 14:43 »
It was down for me last night and this morning, got a message about them coming back soon.  I tried a couple of times today, and got to their webpage, but the dashboard wouldn't load, just some script database error. Eventually, I was able to view the dashboard page, but it took several times.

I would carefully read a previous post similar to your question:http://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/5-yr-conttributo-just-sharing-some-experience/  Although it isn't clear all the circumstances in this incident, I think some of the info applies in this case.

Pay attention to what helix7 says in post 19.  Although helix7 recently deleted his username here, he is a known to have a large vector port.

I seem to remember several other times where ports were disabled by using brushes/patterns that were not created by the artist selling the work....

Veer / Re: Your Veer portfolio on Alamy
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:26 »
Quote
So when my images sell on Alamy through veer at the largest size. The sale is $365, Alamy get $146, Veer get $219 and I get $5.25! This equates to whopping 1.4% commission on the whole sale and about 2.4% of what veer gets in!

I just can't believe that Veer thinks this type of arrangement is OK, and that simply "portfolio exposure" is the good part for us.   ??? ???

Didn't Shutterstock stop accepting renders of interiors of architecture scenes?  Based on the use of 3rd party models or models not created by the submitting artist.  I wonder if this is a precursor of further restrictions on 3D renders?

Dreamstime.com / Re: How do i upload vectors to Dreamstime?
« on: February 14, 2012, 22:24 »
1. upload the high res jpg (via FTP), which has the description and keywords embedded.  Choose the categories.

2.  After pressing the button at the bottom of the page, a new screen pops and there is an area that you can click to upload an additional format.  I think you can also upload the eps from the edit screen while the jpg is in the pending que.  I have always uploaded the eps at the time of upload.

This sounds similar to the guy a couple of months back that lost his account for using those filters that add the "old film look" to the frame borders.

I wish you could get a certain agencies "outsourced reviewers" to view your link and find them one on the effects of perspective..............

The the thing that bugs me the most about them is where is the sky?  Did you clip it out?  Did you brighten up the overall scene so much they sky got burned out?  Those bright colored objects against a bright blue sky could be interesting...............
