Your second red line near read IPTC data should not be checked, if you are going to select your categories.  That may be why your inputs don't "stick"

It doesn't show up in the add information box at #2, it has read the data since its just to the right of your uploaded pic.  If you choose the categories and hit submit the page looks the same, but the info has been recorded in the folder.  I don't know about the MR's, but on vectors you must upload the jpeg, select the categories, then upload the eps on another screen, perhaps the MR has a similar process on another page.

If it shows up right next to the pic, it has been uploaded.  All you must do at this point is choose the categories and the choice for graphic or photo, I don't know about the MR, then hit submit.  It seemed strange to me as well when I first started uploading there.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Software
« on: December 28, 2007, 11:04 »
I purchased an older version of Illustrator 9 from ebay for 100 bucks, since most sites require saving in illustrator 8 format, it appears to me that many of the advanced things that the newest version will do are not necessarily needed.  I have found that it is similar to vector based mapping software that I use daily in my profession, so the learning curve hasn't been as bad.

I still am trying to get accepted at Istock, they appear to be the strictest.

It took me 6 times over the past 10 months, like your experience, after being accepted by the others.  I finally got accepted with 4 isolated food shots and 1 architecture shot.

I had 2 of the new 2 dollar sales credited today, so it is happening.

Lately at Istock I seem to always get the inspectors with excellent eyesight who always seem to reject for artifacting the same pics that the other 6 take.  I shoot in RAW with a Canon XTI and post process with Photoshop Elements 5.0.  I was led to believe that after the most recent version of the RAW engine came out, that doing the majority of the adjustments was better in RAW than inside Elements after the conversion.

The only two controls that I am unsure of their effects are clarity and recovery.  Do any of these two have more possibilities in introducing artifacts?  Any work flow suggestions would be appreciated.

There was a post on their forum or maybe it was an email.......anyway they suggested that I re-set my password.  That worked, now fireftp and others work again.

Imagine my surprise when this blue house with 3 downloads on IStock, received 6 EL's over 3 days around 9/5/07.  Amazing.

I have had a couple that have made me wonder whether the inspector is either a super human being or is just being bloody minded

I would agree with this statement, I have had several rejected recently for artifacts that no one else can reasonably see.

Thanks for the quick reply Bryan, its just been driving me a little nutty wondering if it was just me, or others, since I think Firefox fairly common now.

If anyone else uses firefox and fireFTP could you try to connect to LuckyOliver via FTP and see if you can connect.  A couple of days ago Firefox updated to 2.0.0.6 and now fireFTP won't connect to LuckyOliver, I have tried downgrading firefox, and downloaded 2 other FTP programs (cuteFTP and smartFTP won't connect either) with the same results.  Its really odd, because fireFTP still works with the others that I submit to.

LuckyOliver support has said they would look into this and check for problems.  It seems if it is a firefox related problem, others would have it as well.

Thanks,

Lee

Cameras / Lenses / Re: What head for a monopod
« on: July 10, 2007, 08:06 »
I am interested in this question as well.  I just bought my first monopod, mainly just to try it out.  I bought a inexpensive one with a simple tilt head with their own brand QR plate, and have found that I like the quick release feature.  But I would like it better if it used the same metal manfrotto QR plate like my benbo tripod.

I have had a drastic upswing in the same period.  7 -$1.00 sales today and 4 on the 14th, much better than the trickle before. I am surprised.

It sure seems like the only way I get mine through after a couple of weeks, is to upload several more small batches, that has seemed to prompt them to review the old 15-20 day batches, but the new batches assume the same position seemingly in limbo.

I don't know if it was a coincidence, but number of views jumped by almost 30 after berryspun left a few comments, other comments would be welcome.

I feel your pain, I was just rejected for the 2nd time yesterday.  I had submitted pics that were approved on both SS and IS.  I don't get it?

« on: November 22, 2006, 19:51 »
Thanks for the tip about recent problems with their first 10 approval system.  The first time I tried, all 10 were rejected mainly for noise, I purchased noise ninja, waited a month and tried again with 7 of the same images and 3 new ones.  Two were rejected for limited commercial value, the other 8 just said not approved.  I emailed shutterstock and inquired whether or not my submittal was affected by their system problem, and they replied that my account was approved that 8 had actually been approved, but a software error flagged them as being rejected.

Thanks for the info, that led to me asking them for a clarification via email, and now my account has been approved.
