Dreamstime.com / Re: Closing account caution
« on: June 25, 2019, 06:42 »
How to close dreamstime:

System 1

1-. Wait for more than 100 dollars
2-. deactivate images
3-. request paymente
4-. when you havce money, close account

System 2:
1-. apply for exclusive
2-. Dont be real exclusive

 ;D

I think they just deduct your earnings if they find out you were moonlighting.

I stopped with Dt when they brought in the rule of requiring your photo id. before they will pay you.
The other sites don't need it, so Dt don't actually need it too. I just found it too weird, you know in world where people's data is highly valuable.

You are resurrecting really old threads. Sales threads happen every month. Why wouldnt you post in last months May thread, instead of something from 2017?

It's something weird which often happens when newbies arrive on the forum. It was explained once, but I can't remember the details.

They don't get full rights in the forum until they've made something like 10 comments. For example if they want their links to be clickable etc.

« on: June 04, 2019, 03:47 »
Hello,

I found an other website : http://microstockrank.com

There is more statistics, especially on each contributor.

This is your first post. You could just say the site belongs to you, we don't mind.

106
Why not ask those agencies you want refunds from directly? Each one may be different. Better to get the information right from the source. Most have a customer service phone no. or email, especially for buyers.

Yes you would think asking the agencies that you intend to purchase from would be the obvious place to ask. Why wouldn't he/she ask them directly, they reply quickly to customers/potential customers.

107
Thanks Artist and Microstock Posts for your replies.

If you read my post carefully, you'll understand that I was asking about refund on credits and subscriptions.

Not refund on downloaded photos.

I can be a contributor who has a  buyer's account with a stock site and if I don't use the credit and subscription plans, may I   not not ask for cancellation and refund without thowing sand into a contributor's rice bowl?

You are asking about the refund policies of Shutterstock, iStock, Adobe Stock, 123RF and others, just in case you purchase credits or a subscription and then change your mind and don't want to download anything.

I have a very simple solution for you, decide first if you want to download something, you can search for images and videos for free without making any purchase and then once you have decided, you can purchase.

108
You do realise you're on a forum for those who sell their work and you're asking them how you can get their work for free? How about you create the work yourself so you can see for yourself how much time it takes and at what cost.

109
It could be worse, an agency once rejected Sean Locke and they never asked him to come back.

You on the other hand can walk into DP offices with swagger right now, sit with your feet on their tables and ask for a Bacardi on the rocks and a foot massage.  :D

Shutterstock.com / Re: Great News! from Shutterstock

I got the email, didn't even notice the mistake. Well spotted.
People make mistakes though even shutterstock's people.
Although email is still my favourite form of communication, it does often seem antiquated.
Emails can't be unsent.

An update here.

Dreamstimes Antitrust Claim against Google Dismissed

This is not over yet. Dreamstime may still win the Breach of Contract claim. Stranger things have happened.

Funny, I just saw this on the homepage and it read like this..
Thread: Peace On Earth. Last Post: Not Today

good job done ss...time they begin taking care of all copycat and scammers from eastern europe.

Huh? If u had read the thread posted by Fairplay you would have known that the accounts are now being enabled.

How does not selling anything cannibalise your sales?

It not very likely but I don't want someone choosing to buy a photo of mine on CanStock when it's available elsewhere on sites where I can make min payout in the next decade.
Maybe cannibalised is the wrong word, more like wasted sales. If the buyer had chosen a site other than CanStock I could have realised that money by now.

I believe that in most cases buyers will choose sites, not the artists. I don't upload to them now, but I haven't deleted my port either and although infrequent I've had some big sales on canstock.

New Sites - General / Re: lifeographies
« on: September 24, 2018, 19:11 »
nope, they told me the had damage to their location and moving to a new building- should be on line in a few weeks.  Their based out of Switzerland thus seem honest...

They told you after you inquired? They didn't send an email notifying all their contributors? I'm assuming you're a contributor with them.

« on: September 22, 2018, 13:42 »
The forums with most posts should still be at the top.

This would be better. Right now 123rf is at the top, yuk. But if it was ordered by posts then istock would be at the top, double yuk. Maybe the agencies could be ordered by which has the most posts with the words "exciting news", so it could be a new ranking which determines the level of billshut.  :)

Actually, that's not very convenient.   You have to scroll way down to find a popular site like Shutterstock with 50,000 posts, tucked in among others with just a few hundred.   The forums with most posts should still be at the top.

This wasn't about the forums, it was about the poll.

Twas bout forums actually.
But wot wud I know,  i'm just a simple layman  ;)
OP woz referring to this.

Getting close to a verdict..

"U.S. District Judge William Alsup heard about an hour of argument on Google's motion to dismiss Dreamstime's suit alleging its stock images were intentionally ranked below those of rivals..."

That's sort of insane...

In the first few years shutterstock would increase commissions periodically.
And we are insane, I can vouch for every one of me  :o

This is a contributor forum, probably not many buyers reading. It does seem weird though that after all the years they've been around they seemingly still haven't got their act together.

121
They've openly admitted that their sales have plummeted in a law suit against Google.

"As a result, Google devastated Dreamstimes business, cost it millions of dollars in sales and threatens its survival."

I got 3 downloads for my first 20 days in shutterstock, I just started last June 20, 2018.

I got 35 downloads for my first 20 days in shutterstock, I just started last April, 2009. ;)

Back in 2009, 35 downloads in the first 20 days wasn't worth a forum post.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Do I need to advertise my photos?
« on: July 08, 2018, 00:07 »
My take on this in regards to SM. 10 Tips for New Microstock Photographers

"10. Anti-social This last point is subject to much debate. Dont spend too much time promoting yourself and your images on social media sites or blogging to promote your stuff. If you enjoy it then go ahead, but remember that the top agencies have massive traffic and they have far more of the right kind of traffic, they have tons of buyers. This is where you want to be seen. Your best advert is to produce and get as many images on these sites as possible. Consistently produce outstanding stuff and your images will rise to the top without sending a single tweet."

Absolutely dead.

Why do you periodically bring this thread up just saying DT is dead. Can't you add something to the discussion by saying how much your earnings were in May 2018 in comparison to 2017, to back up your usual 2 words.

My impatientence, just came through, rather late, but I got it.

"..your Shutterstock earnings have been calculated and will be sent out by the 15th of the month."

6 days before the deadline they give. On time as always.
