On the subject of finding your images in use you might want to try the new See In Action feature at Dreamstime (I don't think this has been mentioned on MSG as yet). Just go to your sales page and hover to the right of the thumbnail of the sold image. Click the See In Action box and it does an immediate Google search for that image on the internet. The great advantage is that you don't have to faff around uploading the image first like you do with a reverse image search. My very first search threw up an Ebook cover featuring my Avatar cat http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23414251-figaro-the-cat-detective-and-the-great-dog-pooh-mystery which was quite fun to see. Note, it's not showing you where Dreamstime sold that particular image -just internet matches in general.
Thanks for that seems to be throwing up some odd stuff too though with my image thrown in a random document...strange

This is Google Image Search. It's a function which has by been available by Google for a few years, it's not specific to Dreamstime. When searching in the image section on Google you can drag any image on the net to the search bar, once you drop the image there it shows where the image is used online.

I think he's saying that this does that automatically and continuously though. Dragging 10,000 images into Google every other day could get a bit time consuming.

I was referring to the above mentioned DT facility. The links on dt are only on the earnings pages. So if you had a specific image in mind which is not showing on the most recent earning pages, then it would be better to go to the image page either on dt, ss or anywhere and drag it in to google. Although granted doing this for 10,000 images would be a bit much.

Have you tried contacting https://www.yayimages.com/ which is the site they move clients/your portfolio to?

Yes, tried that also! They do not respond.

I also have a problem with Yaymicro. How to Deal with Agencies which Refuse to Pay.

They do not respond to any email.
They behave like a company about to go out of business, yet they stay in business.

155
I wouldn't join now, until you see what happens with the new payment commissions.

People here are trying to warn you and you don't listen.

This should be MSG's tagline.

156
"There must be at least $100 USD in the earnings for the payment system to accept a payment request through your account"

Their answer suggests that the payout threshold is still $100, therefore you can't get paid before hitting this amount.

Bigstock.com / Re: Bigstockphoto Email notification
« on: October 04, 2016, 17:24 »
Thank you very much. That's very sad. I still get excited when SS sends me an email saying: "congratulations....." I am still trying to find out which images sell and which don't.
Oh I didn't know SS did that :-)

They send a notification in their app of first sales, not for every sale.
Yep I get those alo ng with "milestones" like 5th sale etc etc
This is what the OP is referring to.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Image level not growing
« on: October 03, 2016, 22:15 »
I've read somewhere that the keywords do not necessarily reflect the purchased image. The buyer could've clicked through via another image and the search phrase wasn't used for your image.
Yes, you are right but support said that it was the same buyer and they don't charge more from the same buyer. Now, if the buyer already knows what the image is about, he could use more relevant keywords or the image ID. What I mean is, I doubt it was the same buyer.

I think buyers don't get charged more on different level images if they are using subscriptions. We get rewarded more the more our images sell. So what justification is there not to reward us more if a buyer dowloads the same image twice, why does this differ from any other sale, especially a subscription sale?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Important question for EL in SS
« on: October 02, 2016, 14:46 »
If i set "No" for image sales in my account setting in SS, but I set Yes for EL's does it mean that SS will offer my image only as EL for sale? I just dont want to sell images in 33 cents

You can't opt in to ELs only. Microstock is about your monthly earnings, the subscriptions plus the other amounts add up to a lot.

I focus on what works on SS and anywhere else is a bonus.....

I also do the same like I guess many people do. It is always disappointing though to see sales at Dt drop so much over the years, as it was so good in earlier years. They are like watching your team being up 2-0 at half time, only to see them lose the game 2-3. That's the Dt story for me, how did they let their lead slip? I'm sure they know more than any of us do. Serban will show a figure from time to time in their forum of how many images are being added in a week and he will justify the figure for low sales of individuals, I don't believe this for a moment though. ss add far more images per week and I don't see a significant drop in sales on ss.

Definitely not for me! My sales are actually getting better and better at Dreamstime!

My Dreamstime portfolio is just 1084 images total and it consists of "Slovakia travel" images mostly. Nature, landscapes and historical cultural heritage sceneries, such as pictures of Slovak castles, medieval towns or outdoor museums.

I have sales almost every day there! I mean, for example today I had 4 sales, yesterday 6 sales, the day before yesterday 7 sales, etc. These sales are of various types, some are subs some are credit sales. Last month I had total 195 sales at Dreamstime! It was actually my best month ever there!

This year I had 385 sales at Dreamstime total, so far.

It seems that pictures of Slovakia are in great demand there recently, maybe because of Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Who knows? But, I guess, thats the reason.

Anyway, I am very satisfied with my sales at Dreamstime. I really can't say anything bad about them. :D
A reminder that you cannot always make sweeping conclusions based on your own experience for me DT is in slow decline but sounds like you have found an area in demand nice one :-)

So now we have to travel to Slovakia in order to get a lot of sales on DT.  ;D
No you have to produce pictures Dreamstime customers want to buy

I knew what they liked years ago when they would buy my images in droves, I assumed Dt's customer base had seriously dropped since then, but I'm open to the possibility that it could just be me who has managed to unlearn how to create good stock.

Got it just after noon, LA time. Happy days! The In N Out burgers are on me!

In Copenhagen now. It's not any cheaper, but at least there's not a slot machine in sight!

We were all on the edge of our seats waiting for the answer to the question, when exactly does Shutterstock pay out? And the answer is when you're in LA time. Now I can go back to watching paint dry.  ;)

Photo Critique / Re: Another photo rejected by SS
« on: June 06, 2016, 15:36 »
If an ss reviewer doesn't like your images, they will reject it, but the reason won't necessarily be accurate. I can send noisy, soft focus images and they will accept them if they can see their sales potential. I can send super sharp images which aren't noisy and they will be rejected for noise or soft focus. Take what they say with a large pinch of salt, overall you aren't going to learn anything from the rejection reasons, you will in time learn what they like and and what they don't, then shoot accordingly.

I just had a look. The first thing that struck me was that they have images which clearly would not have model releases, but they don't mention that they are for editorial use only.

If you are having trouble getting an answer from us, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] and I'll look into what has happend. We are not ignoring any requests, but we do have quite a lot to do with too few resources, so sometimes we might need some time to get back to you.

Could you tell me what is the approximate length of time is of "we might need some time to get back to you"? I wrote to you and Linda two weeks ago and didn't even receive an auto responder to acknowledge my email. If you don't know which user I am just pm me on msg and I will tell you. Thanks.

From January to late April and no response?   I wouldn't hold my breath.  Jan, Linda and the rest may already be collecting their unemployment cheques.

I've waited more than 6 weeks for a reply to any one of my emails. I've lost patience.

"dreamstime, the world's largest community in stock photography"

What's the point of blatantly lying? Having fun announcing their dishonesty?

It's right there on the homepage when you're not logged in. I guess they're dreaming. :D

I don't get why ANYONE would support DT on the video side for clips as low as 20 cents.  Even with photos, for that matter, it's hard to grasp. I haven't had a 20 cent sale and most of my sub sales are regular sub rates, but man if a .20 cent takes off, that would be a whopping .06 cents royalty. As I've mentioned in several threads my income was cut in half literally over a month and when I inquired they said that DT changed the search to give everyone fair exposure, so you will see ups and downs in your income. So forget good keyboarding as a competitive angle, forget content quality as a competitive angle, forget upload frequency as a competitive angle and forget portfolio size as a competitive angle. DT CONTROLS, by their own admittance, our destiny......I suppose like most other agencies. But they admit to it and that's the difference.

I agree. I wasn't referring to the 20 cents though with the attached image, I was referring to them saying they are "the world's largest community in stock photos", which as mentioned can't possibly be true considering how much bigger other stock sites are. You need to click on the attached image to enlarge the image and then you can see the text clearly, right below where it mentions 20 cents.

Well there was me looking for new agencies to sign up with and I came across this thread, glad I didn't bother with them

I checked Canva out they're Australian that just explained the attitude problems Canva have. ::)

Like Indiana Jones would or might have said  "Australians, I hate these guys"  ;D

In most business where there are suppliers and buyers, it's extremely rare that suppliers will be treated in as high regard as the buyers. I'm not saying Canva are the same as I'm not with them, I also haven't been through this thread. However, I am certain their attitude towards buyers is as faultless as they can be (like most businesses). And whatever their attitude is towards contributors I very much doubt it has anything to do with their nationality.
