I am sure everyone has their own views of starting a microstock website but easiler said than done.
Calling them "clone", I dont know if I would put them down. If it were not for other stock agencies, I would not make the money I do make. There is always room for competition even for the "little" companies. Obviously someone is buying from them. Each agency has their own way of running things. I am ok with that.
I am just glad there is a top 10 and would be happy to use any others moving up the ladder.
I would never make my images exclusive. I dont think I would make more doing that.

52
I also wanted to say I had such great response from DT. I even got a phone call to resolve the problem along with several emails.
WOW!
ty Dreamstime!

53
I imagine I am not the only one that was not sure what to do in this case. I thought if they did not take it down that DT would take care of it but no sign left of my images on the site.

Achilles,
I was very happy with the results. Dreamstime did a great job. Thank you.
I imagine that sites such as these misuse alot of images.
I really was not knowing the steps to take but I imagine that maybe they wont do it again. My model was freaking out over it and I knew I better do something to get it down ASAP as it has happened before with her images that we took. I don't understand why they would use these images. They are not "pornish" and she didn't have lingerie or anything on. Weird.

I was just praising DT.

Well, you are not seeing the images because they are not there anymore. I wrote the website and told them there are legal repercussions for misusing images and they agreed to usage when purchasing them and that my agency would be contacting them if they did not take them off ASAP. (Matter of fact, there was many images that looked like stock and they came down too. )
i wrote to Dreamstime and they had a email to me within the next morning and was on top of it. The site removed all the images immediately. I am happy and so is my model. All ends well again. Thanks to Dreamstime!!

There is no way I would ever go exclusive with anyone. But good luck.. things work different for everyone. :)  Dreamstime Rocks!

I dont believe most photographers use MAC.

58
But these were not images of her in lingere. She is dressed in normal fashion wear. That is what is so weird about it.

60
Does anyone else have this problem? I am very upset. My model has contacted me once again about her images being used in a derogatory manner. She has been on TV and is a very busy model being on commercials and ads.

She is so not happy. At the same time, it has brought her a couple of jobs doing stock for us. I know that anyone purchasing images of people are not suppose to use them in any way that it will hurt the persons image.

Any comments from anyone??

I dont know that I could be a full time stock photographer. I enjoy doing all kinds of photography too much. I have never paid a model to pose for stock and would not want any overhead. Too many great models that would do it for free.
I have done fashion model shoots but never set up a set for stock. Thought about it but I think I would use what I have and not invest much into it and just be creative.

62
That was just so darn cool!!! No pun intended.  ;D

I would not submit to SS till you had a nice size portfolio for the reasons of your first 1-2 months you will make a nice amount if your images are good.
If you study and look at any of the top selling microstock photographers, none of them are exclusive because that is simply not how you are going to make the most money.
If you are serious about Microstock... submit to the top agencies first and work your way down. If you have a nice sized portfolio, you can make quite a bit of money monthly. Just keep building your port EVERY month. The more uploads.. the more sells and exposure.
Your top agencies are listed to the left.  ---->
As an image inspector...for getting your first images approved... I know you need to look at your images at 100%. Look for any artifacts and make sure they are properly exposed and sharp. Is it something that is in demand that will sell? Make sure there are no copyrights in the images. How does your composition look? Does it look like a snapshot? You have to pick your top images and not of all the same thing. You don't want to submit similarities. Be critical of your images.

Congratulations Tyler! How exciting on getting a sponsorship. YEY!!!    ;D

I am still not sure why people use Nobody in their keywords. The keyword has nothing to do with the image. The keywords are suppose to describe the image.

His studio makes mine look empty. LOL I have 1600 sq '  spacious with tall vaulted ceilings and a changing room having makeup mirrors and a wardrobe of model clothing. My walls are brick. In my spacious studio I have my lighting set-up that I move to different locations for different sets. I have a chase lounge, about 8 chairs and a futon and my backgrounds hanging from the walls. I have a few props crammed into a closet out of the way so it still looks nice and presentable so I can shoot senior and family photography because that is what pays our bills.
I wonder what his 20% is? Does he do anything besides stock photography?

69
I am starting to get sales on Crestock.. I am starting to wonder if it is because so many photographers have canceled their accounts. ???? I am just holding out. LOL

70
I cant imagine what his building costs are plus all his props. No stock photographer has that kind of overhead. That is insane. Paying for a complete staff, models, MA's, Assistants out the wazoo. I just dont see how he makes so much money after all his overhead.

71
Curious what the pay is for working your butt off for at least 50 hours a week and being there for their every beckoning call?

72
thanks.. I chose the sell only. Waiting for them to send something so I can start uploading. Sounds like this site has promise to it... by hearing others talk about their payouts.
What are the pros and cons to this site?

SELL ONLY, PC TEST, PC STANDARD and PC PREMIUM?
plus a setup fee? Never seen this before.  Does this determine how many you can upload each day? Call me stupid but it did not make sense to me.
 ???

Personally for stock, I would not think it would sell. I agree they are not natural looking. I wanted to find it because I did a model shoot and wanted it for myself for an idea I had. I must be getting bored and just wanted to play. LOL
