Make sure your FTP client's protocol is set to "FTP over explicit TLS/SSL".

I am trying this right now.... I am still getting the critical file transfer error.
Thanks for helping me Aaron!

Errors, errors, errors and errors. Uploading is a PAIN! Can't they find an expert for their win server or what? But truly why do they announce a promotion program when they can't make their servers work. I am going to lose my patience... and interest. :(

Earlier today I uploaded about 70 images. FTP was ok but the site script couldn't read my IPTC - had to delete them all. Now I tried it again but this time all uploaded files were broken. I give up.

They (IS) just rejected an image (no complete reupload just requesting new MR).
+++photographer information missing++
Incomplete information (addresses, phone numbers etc.) Please have a new release filled out and uploaded.

These fields are not existing anymore even on their own release form :) LOL.

I just uploaded an MR last week and the photographer info is at the bottom of the left column. Not sure what you mean.

It's not just Filezilla, I've also tried using Fetch. I'm trying to upload 100 files and so far out of 27 only 5 have got through!

This is the reason I haven't bothered uploading before, I've always had FTP problems with them.

After some initial errors Filezilla uploaded all my file without any further problem. BUT...
They do not read my description field from IPTC. Every other agency does. :(

Is anybody else having difficulty uploading using FTP?

I'm using filezilla which keeps disconnecting, some files get through but most aren't with the error messages "connection timed out" "couldn't connect to server" "critical error"

Same here with Filezilla. Maybe they are getting to many uploads now.

Income is stagnant or very-very slowly increasing year to year while I doubled my portfolio every year. I'll see what happens this year without  new uploads - I stopped uploading there.
By the way, in same parts of his comment I agree with PowerDroid: I dropped DT from my upload list and it instantly made me more happy and less frustrated.

« on: April 30, 2010, 03:00 »
I have a very positive experience with IS. Even if I am not exclusive and even if they would have the right to reject the image for inappropriate keywords they don't. In over 95% of the cases they just remove the keywords and let the image through. Maybe they take into account your badge level? Not like on DT where I got a full batch rejected just because I used keywords like 'stockphoto' - that was the last time I uploaded there anything.

I don't know why do you say IS search is bad. If you know the CV they give you far the best accuracy in searches. I am always choosing IS when I am looking for an image.

I keep uploading since they started the program. Upload is simple and flawless, reviewing is fast and professional.

This is a severe accusation, do not judge them before you hear them. Ah , I forgot they don't talk. Anyway I am sure they don't cheat but it would be nice to hear their voice.

The list of reason why I DO like Fotolia is growing and growing :)
They are the only agency where income is constantly growing and growing from year to year. I  mean significantly not with 50$s

Ah yes, the legendary FTL support. They mastered the skill of question-dodging. How to answer your questions without answering the question - no one is better in that, they the real masters. First it was annoying but now I find it more and more funny every time I read a story about it.
I tell you the secret counter action: never ask them anything you don't already know the answer for.

Good news. I want you to make money otherwise you will close the shop. 50$ is still a very good prize and I hope it helps you stay alive.
On the other hand. Uploading is extremely slow! I am uploading 300+ images in the current batch and it already took like 24 hours. Hey, I want ot upload 10k images it will take a year then?!

Again, he uses a FujiFilm FinePix S6500fd, flash from his camera. It's a 6 megapixel camera (not a dslr with a special lens). He says that he goes out at 2 - 3 am and simply uses a "torch" to light the bugs. I toured an old castle ruin in Wales one summer (I'm from the US) and was so excited because the person in charge said we needed torches to see around. I envisioned getting a flaming torch like some kind of medieval movie until I learned that a torch was simply a flashlight.

Ok, and what? There is nothing super special in that. This is a different and very specific field of photography. Many pro photographers are using higher quality PS cameras for photographing macro. Reason is the sensor size and DOF... and the amount of light you need. This is why a torch is enough for him. Now let's try to shoot commercial people shots with that fuji and a torchlight - good luck for selling it :)

I don't say he took this shots on this way but some folk are using freezing spay in insect photography.

I sortof gave up on them. They are not stock oriented at all....

I have an opposing opinion. The site design is good and simple in many ways, in appearance, in usability and also in licencing. They do not follow the common microstock agency rules, this is a different service - otherwise I wouldn't upload anything. It is a great tool as the shopping section of your own business website. Well, yes it would be nice to have some more features especially in how can you link it to your own site.. but we will see what the new improvements are. And hey 20$ for this is really NOTHING! My only concern is how long can they hold on.

I liked that option much better when you got the payment from the buyer and you transfered the royalty. I see no point why this new system is better.  I am not happy you change the business model on the fly. I already uploaded 3000+ images but need to stop now.  :(
By the way the webdav uploading is simple but extremly slow. A batch of 2-300 images usually takes 10+ hours  - totally insane. In all other factors the software design and the usabilty it tripleA.

Edit: ok, after reading the whole story I see your point now. I am sorry what happed to you and I really hope you can sort out your problems. Looking forward to see those great new tools! :)

I am also waiting since 01.03.  When I asked support they were kind enough not to tell me any strange reasons but apologized and very politely asked for my patience. So I am waiting. The worst thing is I can't start the next payment while this one is pending - and hey, a full months passed!

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia director of content?
« on: March 23, 2010, 09:49 »
Sorry to hear that Elena. I'am lucky to I get literally everything accepted at Fotolia - maybe except some outdated stuff we uploaded accidentally or images where we mistyped the title badly... things like that. Rejection is aroud 1%. There must be some kind of a miscommunication in your case like a hidden technical parameter... or I don't know. Looking forward to hear what Chad investigates.

123
Is your eyedropper set to 1pix or is it measuring the average of a 3pix or a more wide area?

Adobe Stock / Re: Exclusive image sales at Fotolia?
« on: March 22, 2010, 05:07 »
But what kind of exclusivity do you offer to Fotolia if you set bestsellers or rejected images exclusive. I mean an image is only an image, part of a series. Do you remove all other images of the same series from the other agencies? How strict FTL is with the exclusivity rules? I am just curios.

Very strong month. I hope it will be BME. It must be because this is the strongest months of the year according to my statistics. My current BME is one year old. :)
