iStockPhoto.com / Re: Income lose 2013 to 2016
« on: June 03, 2016, 09:45 »
You are very lucky Photostocker! My income lose is much much higher. Down to ONLY 50% from 2013 to 2015? Sounds like a dream for me!

Photo Critique / Re: Stocksy rejection-need your opinion
« on: April 13, 2016, 12:04 »
The answer is simple: your images are too good for them.  These are correctly exposed, correctly lighted, nice images. Really nice images!
Good images are boring for them. They already have some... so now they need trendy, surprising, spontaneously taken images. Different looking images. Much worse images then yours. Buy an iphone  and forget about lighting and composition and they will let you in. At least this is my impression while I am browsing Stocksy.

This is the first time I am sorry that I don't have my portfolio uploaded there. I would be so excited to delete it right now to show them what I think. It would be like 30k images - what is not that much but still, a good number.

I see this as a good opportunity for photographers to stand up for themselfs. It is hard to quit from a significant agency when they make such a move. But 500px is NOT a significant agency and nobody will lose too much by leaving them. Except them. This is the right moment to protest! Unfortunately I can not delete my portfolio now, but I am sure I'll never upload anything ever.

29
Yes we need a DIFFERENT agency but we do not need another 30% agency. I was planning to join 500px. I am not planning anymore. Simple like that.

30
And they have quite good images not just the very amateurish stuff. Who is that stupid who contrubites there???? No copyright credit so I can't see.

Hi,
I am using the Toshiba Flashair since they released it. Swithed from EyeFi - what had too many problems. I like the Toshiba, it is not perfect but better than than anything else I tried so far. I pair it with iPads (yes more than one device can download the shots at the same time). I take the shots to two cards simultaneously: RAW files go to the CF card and the minimum size JPGs are going to the Toshiba. Transfer is still slow but acceptable.
Check the application named ShutterSnitch.

General - Top Sites / Re: What . happened with SS sales????
« on: November 02, 2015, 16:43 »
Hmmm... I am a long time contributor to SS and have a quite a big portfolio with pretty good sales. I usually can see the trends and seasonal fluctuations. What happens now is sudden drastic and was unexpected and it seems it is not general to all of us. Maybe I am the victim of a search engine reshuffle. I am still very worried. SS is the last ship I could have a trust in. The rest of the agencies are not more than just floating little lifeboats.

General - Top Sites / What . happened with SS sales????
« on: November 02, 2015, 14:48 »
During the years all big agencies gone down except SS. In the last few month SS is also falling badly. October was my worst month of the last 5 years while october is usually the strongest month of the year. Last week sales were down to 50% of the usual. WHAT THE ..... IS HAPPENING? I am getting worried.

General - Top Sites / Re: Yuri Arcurs comments on Adobe Stock
« on: October 14, 2015, 20:01 »
- To be honest he has some fair points.
- I don't know why is he evaluating an agency he can't join as an IS exclusive.
- We don't know how well his plan works with Getty, we have no insider info but I am sure he got a very special deal to make it profitable.
- He switched to exclusive just before things turned to bad everywhere so I think he knows where to go.
- I am sure he earns a lot of money with peopleimages. It is far the best stock site I ever saw - in content, technology and ergonomy. If I were a buyer I would choose them. Since I am a stock photographer I hate them for grabbing the buyers. :)

Interesting. I may give it a try.

Adobe Stock / Re: The new fotolia...low sales
« on: July 09, 2015, 07:39 »
For me Fotolia is something I do not understand. I already gave up to understand it.
I have 24k images online. There were times when I have been in the TOP10 in their weakly top list and my overall position was 20th or 21st. The site earned me some nice money. Then something changed in 2012 but I do not know what. I remember when my weakly position droped to 50-60 I thought it can not be worse.  A year later I was out of the top100... then out of the 500... now my weakly position is 992 while my overall position is still no39 which is not that bad. My income droped to the 15% of my BME (2011). I have no idea why.
Fotolia is dead for me and it seems this will not change in the Adobe area... unfortunately.

New Sites - General / Re: Newzulu.com - The Next Step?
« on: July 08, 2015, 17:56 »
There was a site with a very similar concept a few years ago. Citizenimages.com or something similar. I had some pictures there but no sales ever. As I see they are not existing anymore.

Canva / Re: Canva
« on: July 08, 2015, 17:52 »
My port on Canva was edited from 1200 to 275 and it hurt my sales. So I cant report on any trends, I was going very well but my sales have dropped since the new policy kicked in.

Policy change? Do they have any description of what and why are they deleting?

Canva / Re: Canva
« on: July 06, 2015, 17:30 »
They already deleted 65% of my portfolio!
I liked Canva very much before, now I hate them! That's what they achieved with this policy!
I will never use their services or will recommend them to someone!

Wow!  I just thought it is time to give Canva a chance and finally start uploading... no way! And now I am happy I didn't.

Homofob people tend to attack the prides and even gay people on the street in many less-developed countries. While meateaters rarelly attack vegans nor creating situations where people can be hurt and policemen need to be involved. This alone clearly shows this is a sensitive topic... not because of the rights of the gay people nor because of their different sexual orientation but because of the society. In the current case the model is "lucky" because Germany is enlightened/safe but as I mentioned above it can even be dangerious in other countries. This is why I think it sould be left to the model to decide if he/she wants to take this risk and participate or not. This is not about the rights of the gay people!
I strongly believe that image usage rights should be more clearly defined in the licence agreements and the limitations should be more strict. Photographers, models and image buyers would  profit from that. I believe it would stengthen this industry and not weaken it - at least this is my oppinion.

43
This is not about gay people this is about the rights of a model. Law is failing its purpose here.

This is an interesting case. This is an indicator of how low value our photos and we have.
I think you can do nothing in this case even though I think you are 100% right and this should be handled as a sesitive case. Not because of law and not because of equal human rights but because of public oppinion. If anyone wants to change public oppinion or fight for a good case it is good but it should be his/her own decision. OWN.
Questionable uses should be handled very seriously by the stock agencies otherwise we will not have models after a while.... or only models who now find their participation in this industry as one of the biggest mistakes of their lifes.
For questionable uses everyone should use the model agencies and a not-simplified (more expensive) image licencing model not microstock. This is the concept what should be communicated and even forced by the agencies... but the industry is going to the opposite direction.

Shutterstock.com / Re: sudden increase of $0.38 SODs
« on: June 26, 2015, 03:21 »
WOW 280 SODs on a single day... reminds me of the good old goden days of microstock.  Just make it happen every day SS and I will be impressed :)

This sudden increase is very rare and not happening every week or month. I can't see any pattern here so I think this is somekind of a correction.

Adobe Stock / Re: Introducing Adobe Stock!
« on: June 16, 2015, 05:11 »
This is a big news! Fotolia was in a huge decline for me during the last few years so I even stopped uploading. Since I heard Adobe took it over I restarted uploading.

33%  This 33% covers your equipment, your time, the cost of the models, the location, retouching, keywording, uploading. 33% - 1/3 of the price and we are happy whith it! Nothing shows the sate of this industry better. Because yes: this offer is quite fair if you compare it to other leading agencies. Unless photographers can found a strong union (what will never happen on the internet) Adobes offer remains one of the best on the market.

Anyway, I have high hopes in Adobe! Good luck to all!

Shutterstock.com / Re: Did SS change the search again??
« on: May 28, 2015, 16:52 »
This month is SHOCKING for me. Extremely low. Down by 25-30% compared to anything I remember.  I haven't worried about too much of the microstock business while SS kept the numbers OK. But the recent numbers are remembering me to the sinking of IS and FTL (a few years ago). What . happened?

47
I have stopped uploading to Fotolia for a long time and refused to paticipate in their Dollar Club something. Last time I ckecked it I still was in the TOP30 in overall sales but somewhere like 500th in the weekly sales ranking. So FTL is a DEAD business for me.
If Adobe takes it over and they change things to a good direction I have plenty of new images to support it. I will be more than happy to do so.

« on: June 03, 2014, 11:29 »
Free is not always necessarily free. Many deals contain a free period... etc. We do not know the details yet. Let them work this thing out and then you can still opt out.

DT is a company they want to earn money - in the long run they will not give our photos for 'free'. And when they earn money they pay royalty - this is the base of our agreement. If it turns out that they don't I'll quit. But we are talking about a test period here. I am sure they aren't testing a business model where they give everything for free and earn nothing.

DT is not like FTL or IS. On DT my income is not down to 1/4 of 2009. For me it tells they know what they are doing. Everyone knows that internet businesses need constant innovation. If they want to test waters and they want my support for a few month then why not. I trust them. I may lose some dollars now but I way win more later. I don't understand why are everyone so upset. Yes, I would not support the 'innovative' ideas of FTL or IS - anymore -  but DT or SS still has my support.
