Veer Marketplace will be global.  Absolutely, we'll have other payment options in addition to PayPal to make it work for everyone.

We're going to take most of SV contributors for Veer Marketplace.  I can't say "all" because Veer has different submissions criteria than SV.  The simple answer: we'll take as much as possible.

SV contributors that are not moved over will be welcome to submit to Veer Marketplace after the spring/summer launch.  We'll have more guidance on the site as to our criteria and the Community Content Editors will also be there to provide feedback so everyone has a clear idea of what we're looking for.

We'll be accepting direct submissions to Veer Marketplace in spring/summer once the upload tool is launched.

For now, you can submit your contact details here and then we'll contact you when it's ready to go:

Hi everyone,

Veer Marketplace is now live on Veer.com.  Check it out:  http://www.veer.com/marketplace

This phase one launch features the first batch of SV contributors to be moved over to Veer.  More SV contributors will be moved over the next couple of months.  And then in spring/summer we'll have the full Marketplace site up and running, so contributors can upload their images directly to Veer.

Let us know what you think and feel free to ask Brian and I any questions.

Aaron

ps.  The announcement of "A Brand New Low" is a tongue and check reference to pricing.  Veer customers are smart design nerds so they love the inside jokes.

Hi Jose, good question -- we're going to be moving over most (hopefully all) of SV content to Veer Marketplace and we'll be ranking the images in search results to help the stronger images rise to the top -- this is done to create a better customer experience.  We say "most" because it's possible that a few contributors won't make it through if the content is off-brand for Veer.  Veer has higher standards for image selection than SV had, so we have to review all of SV images before we can move it over.  If a contributor isn't selected for Veer Marketplace, they are welcome to submit via the new site coming in spring/summer.  We'll have more feedback and mentoring available that helps contributors better understand the type of commercial content we're looking for.

Mantonio, try sending another message to [email protected].  Lots of messages are flowing in.  Seems to be working fine!

Brian and I are at UGCX so it'll take us more time to reply this week.  Thanks for the questions and feedback, everyone.

Aaron

By the way, Brian and I will be at the UGCX conference next week in San Jose.  I'm speaking on a couple of sessions.  Maybe see you there.

The more I think about this deal the less impressed I am with it. Here's a company with no micro experience buying a train wreck of a company with weak technology and impotent marketing experience.

My best guess is that they bought it for next to nothing except agreeing to keep Brian for some specified length of time as a somewhat familiar persona to the micro world. Sort of like when a company keeps the acquired company's sales manager until they pick his brains.

Hi louoates,

Veer and SV are both owned by Corbis.  This is a merger, not an acquisition.  The only thing that will go away is the SV website.

The Veer Marketplace review team is based in Seattle (same folks from SV) under Brian's leadership.  They are working hard with the Calgary team to transition everyone's images to Veer, and after that they will be uploading fresh images to Veer Marketplace using the new platform built by the same dev team here in Calgary, that built the Veer website.

The merger of SV images with Veer - a company that connects with creative professionals with its brand and marketing - is precisely why this is a great opportunity for micro contributors.

Stay tuned for February 23rd when the first batch of SV images go live on Veer Marketplace.

They learned what they needed and now are headed down a different path with it.

Exactly -- couldn't have said it better myself!

No weird restrictions to worry about.  Just porting over the images to Veer and away we go.  But it'll take time everyone, so please bear with us.

I do not understand it properly. Did Brian really say we had to sign-up on Veer even if we had an account on SV?

SV contributor accounts will be automatically transferred to Veer Marketplace along with SV images so you don't have to sign-up again.  But until then if you want to participate in the Veer Community forum and groups, then you'll need to create a profile.  Takes just a few seconds to set up.

Come say hi!

Selected images are going to be automatically added to the Veer RF library.

Hi, this is Aaron from the Veer Marketplace team.  I work with Brian O'Shea.  Great weekend for him to go skiing!  It's okay, he booked the trip long ago so we forgive him... I'm also available to answer any questions.  You can find me and Brian at [email protected].

Just want to make a little clarification here.  Veer Marketplace images (including former Snap images) will indeed be on Veer.com, however, they'll be in separate search results from Veer RF and RM images, not mixed into the RF library.  That said, we'll make it easy for buyers to switch between micro and macro content so they can buy either kind (or both!) when they checkout.  We'll also have micro type, illustration... it's all coming soon.
