Illustration - General / Re: Colourbox??
« on: June 13, 2015, 12:47 »
How come?
So they are a Denmark company? Does it mean they sell more to the European market?

the website says 20% minimum each sale...
If someone buys one offs such as this, it would be 20% of 12.50 which is the cost of buying a single image...

Now they have subscriptions....and I guess, that's where commissions would turn to cents...like $40  buys you 10 images...while 125 buys you 50 downloads per month, while 188 buys 150....At least they dont' have "unlimited" downloads...but they have a carryover of unused downloads..... is what I see on the page www.colourbox.com/products

So...how can this be as bad as other agencies that also have subs?

Software without a license, is what we call pirated software.

If I understood, he is asking if software companies put some sort of hidden code in the final files that could detect piracy, so he is afraid.

Software companies have the name of everyone who purchased the software. I purchased all my software, they have our names and purchase information.

If you don't have money to buy software, use legal free Open Source software. Stop using pirated stuff. Look on the internet for these:

Inkscape is free (alternative to corel and illustrator) for EPS, SVG

GIMP is free (alternative to Photoshop) for JPG

There are some people who use these alternatives on micro stock, I know some clipart artists that do use it....

It seems that after they get accepted, still, it takes some time to show up on your portfolio page...With this one you really need to have lots of patience.

I don't understand their process..

There are 66 images that have been approved a few days ago in my history...but they don't show in my portfolio...

No luck.

156
Hi,
It seems older content sells more, and new content takes forever to start selling...

But is there any place where the search benefits new content and the new stuff sells more than the old?

Im looking in this page....

Mine are showing pending...maybe they are pending review...

What graphic designer doesn't love a bargain?

I can't criticize anyone who wants to sell bundles and such, because it seems to be a trend. The same as subscriptions with no limits...

However if you were able to sell your own bundles from your website instead of a market, maybe you could make more money....

159
Hi by bundle sites you mean like where they often make bundles with large amount of graphics, such as graphics, clipart fonts,500 logos and sell for 30 bucks?  They are spreading...
But also depends on the site...

The amount of discounts and coupons you see around is also crazy... After a while people will apply 30% to 50% discounts...

Design got really cheap in this day and age...

Well, thats the same with me. I uploaded some files, in two trips and some went..some are showing in the incomplete... Same thing when I click on the history page.

But after up FTP you actually have to go to another page, which I never know which is...and you need to click to upload and choose FTP and so on...on this link:
 http://submit.123rf.com/ftpresults.php?action=process

I got some vectors up but I sill have 18 images showing on the FTP. so I don't know if that is in some sort of queue.

« on: May 18, 2015, 19:49 »
Well, I managed to upload..it is much slower than I expected ...I am trying to upload vectors....It takes a while to show up in the queue.

One thing I noticed, is that it didn't take the IPTC keywords from my files...I had IPTC in the JPG and EPS 8....Am I doing something wrong?

Here is a description of what these CC licenses are...they also have a "translation in other languages, check those links in the bottom of the page...Just in case you need.

creative commons licenses
creativecommons.org/licenses/

creative commons in public domain
creativecommons.org/about/cc0

Because is a share alike, you can't use for micro stock.....means you have to share the work in the same manner as the guy who did the map...you haVE to give it away.

The best thing is to find a list of maps in public domain...however the ones I know are not SVG or EPS. so you would have to retrace on top of it....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Earnings with vectors
« on: May 07, 2015, 16:07 »
I could be wrong, but those image sets, where you put a load of illustrations in one single file are the ones that probably sell more...than single illustrations in a file...

What I see selling are a lot of those "sets", a lot of  best sellers like those single files packed with badges, logos and icons, banners, design elements, vintage labels and text sets and so on.

I could be wrong...but is like a trend...but that's attractive to the buyer, and even tho some will download all of that even if they will never use it...

123RF / Are there any illustrators on 123RF?
« on: May 07, 2015, 16:00 »
Hi,
Any illustrators on 123RF?
How do you do there compared to Istock?
Do vectors and illustrations sell better than photos there?
I have a contributor account, only sent a handful of files, and kept wondering if I should send in more.

FileSold....
are you generating 6 dollars per month with your small portfolio or are you generating 6 dollars per single image?

HI Snow shade...
You only have 128 images. Your earnings sound about right.
Anything less than 1000 images will not average much...To see real earnings you need thousands of images...Some people have 2000 images or more and only make 100.

This is a tough industry, there is no secret recipe, nowadays you need quality and quantity...You just need a looot of content to compete.

I was able to configure and connect using FTP...
when I connect it says "unsecured ftp connection...

I dont really know much about FTP ...but I was wondering if there is a way to make the FTP connection secure?  Im using cyberduck it has options for SFTP and FTP SSL, but it didn't seem to work for me.

Im on CS6 but I take is the same. This might have happened to you:

If you used gradient in the stroke, or tried to change the height and width of the regular radial gradient, to make the shading oval instead of a circle this won't convert to early version that didn't have this function.

Check your flower petals.
If you go on the Window>grandient>       the flyout menu opens. Click on the tiny black arrow on the top right to open "show options". Click on RADIAL.

You see the angle input bellow...That's okay to use, but the width /height option bellow is not supported in earlier versions and hasn't converted for me.
You will have to redo the gradients, being careful not to "squish the gradient" in the oval shapes.

Hi Lee,
thanks for accepting me. I understand that the vector upload is not ready yet...

I'm also interested in the layout designer program and I think I am going to apply for that, I am still learning how the design tool works. I am taking the tutorials first.

I was just trying to find where the layouts from the designer program go, so where do buyers find these ready made layouts?

Are these layouts the ones showing up in the Stream on the site ... or the layouts will show up always in the design tool along with backgrounds, text and image?

And how much is the commission if someone is using your layout?

Thanks

How long does it take to get approved to be a canva contributor?
I applied to be an illustrator...

What is the difference between a stock image contributor and a canva layout designer?
