General Stock Discussion / Question about large format printing
« on: August 02, 2019, 15:25 »
A client wants to use an image of mine as a large wall mural approx 4' x 8' and have asked for an EPS file.

To save as an EPS file in photoshop, which encoding method would be best to use? they offer a variety from ASCII85 to jpeg.
would jpg maximum quality be good, or would another encoding be better?

sorry if its a newb type question- i dont know anything about large format printing.

I made this suggestion before and will say it again:

Copyright holders can initially set up a GOFUNDME account and appoint some trustees including a reputable lawyer to manage the money, in trust. The trustees will determine how the money should be used, including appointing attorneys and expenses.

The legal fees can be paid out of the trust money.

A percentage of the money recovered will go back to the trust fund.

If we pool the efforts together, there will be a defense fund available for the future.

Good luck with that

After sending an email to demand my earnings, they obliged, paid in full and shut down my account.

On their forums the new CEO says their goal is to transform Photocase into a European Stocksy.

Ok then, lets see how that works out...

Glad you got your money. As for their goal, where is that crying with laughter emoji.....

Lol

I just posted for the sake of anyone that wants to take their earnings and run.
They will rebook the earnings you have already made prior to the claw backs. You just need to send them an email requesting such.

Remember this is a test phase

Its like gasoline - they jack up the price, everyone moans, then it comes down a little and everyone thinks its a bargain

I bet Adobe will roll back the price to $15/ month and most people will remain with them

Cutcaster / Re: Cutcaster for sale

I thought about offering $15.00 for the whole operation, and then following up with an eMail that says "We've got great news!"

If you buy it, could you please lower the payout threshold to $1?
It may still take me a couple months to reach it, but maybe Ill get payout before I end up in a retirement home

This site has been on autopilot (and pretty much dead) for years

And that is pretty much confirmed when they say its minimal expense to run it.

113
I would be interested to know what happens if you ever get the chance to pursue someone via lawyer for misuse/thief of images.

I dont hear of too many successful pursuits in this area, which is why I think that many contributers are resigned to stay with micros like SS even though they have a could care less attitude.

Respect for taking a bold move like this, and wishing you success.

Hollywood makes lots of money on disasters/apocalyptic scenes in movies.

I dont see anything inherently wrong with creating disaster scenarios.
But you will always have people who will Find some way to get offended  to just about anything these days

Edit: I wish I had the skill set to post process stuff like this

Unbelievable, but believable
Know what I mean?

This smells like something Ive smelled before

SS has gone to the toilet 🚽

From accepting spam, poor images that should be declined to tolerating thievery and the new $1.50 video licence, this place has gone down in a hurry

Hopefully their stock price plummets and hits those in management where it hurts

Hello,

We hope you are well.

Despite our best efforts and investments, we have made the difficult decision to shut down Onepixel on February 28th.

Unfortunately, the Onepixel business model does not allow us to continue providing top tier service and pay fair commissions to our contributors due to the high customer acquisition costs converting long-tail free image users to paid customers.

Every contributor will be paid for every sale regardless of the total amount earned.

Our team will reach out with you in the next few days to arrange payment. Your portfolio and data will be deleted before we close the service, so please take accurate notes of your sales and purchases.

The Onepixel service and platform will close according to the following timeline:

On February 28th:
All customer sales will stop
Contributor uploads will be disabled
From February 28th to March 15th:
Contributors will have access to the contributor.onepixel.com website to review earnings and account details
The Onepixel team will reach out to arrange payment to every contributor
Customers will be able to redownload images they have previously purchased, review their account settings, and payment receipts
On March 15th:
The contributor and customer interface will go offline
We appreciate your trust and support in the early days of this adventure and trust you will have a successful future.

Feel free to get in touch with our contributor support team if you have any questions.

Best regards,

The Onepixel Team

Tell Chad not to worry... after all money isnt the most important thing!

Excellent and good riddance!

I didnt think this would happen so fast

122
sS is really starting to piss me off as an agency that is turning on its own contributers (or business partners in reality)

Im just waiting for that first video sale under the new and exciting terms they recently announced - maybe thatll give me the push over the edge to remove at least my videos

123
Looks like SS locked that thread on their forums

Bad publicity even though they have brought it on themselves

Shameful SS, shameful

124
I just got this too

No opt out option, SS is just ramming it down our throats like it or not
No explanation on what these licences will go for either

Shitterstock is going to the dumps - check out their forums - between accepting crap images, spamming portfolios, and allowing thieves to run rampant, this site is a sheetshow

125
I would rather wait this out and see how it all shakes out before jumping in
Its never too late to join the party
