Very nice Leaf. Well blended with the music. Looks like you had a nice time there!

That news really made me sad. Good luck in the future Keith. You deserve it.

Software - General / Re: Bryce 6.3
« on: December 25, 2009, 11:56 »
I have used Bryce for 3d renders. Not just landscaoes, it is good for lots more beside. It is a great easy way to get into 3d. I use a number of other products now, but have never regretted buying Bryce. It is a great package to learn on, much easier than say 3ds Max.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock 10-10 Rejected
« on: December 13, 2009, 02:27 »
Whatever you do, don't give up on Shutterstock! They are a more reliable earner than IS.
Have you tried Fotolia? They have overtaken SS as my number one earning site three month in a row. They have similar standards to SS for photo's (note, very different for graphics), but without the initial trial.

He also has one by Lise Gagnes. Its the one called togetherness, all the silhouettes in front of a blue map of the world. He is definitely the one in the wrong!

Gimmestock.com / Re: Does anyone post here?
« on: December 11, 2009, 03:54 »
I have around 700 pictures on there. I have made $12.30 since September 2005. I was on the front page for a while in March, I sold three images.

Image Sleuth / Re: how would you feel?
« on: December 09, 2009, 13:48 »
If you have done nothing wrong, and did not copy another photographers picture, then why do you have a problem showing us the image? I don't understand your reluctance.

Image Sleuth / Re: My image on DeviantArt. Is this OK?
« on: December 06, 2009, 02:46 »
I had this happen with one of my images a few years ago. I contacted the artist, who had never sold a print. He has paid for an image, but the contract was beyond his understanding!
Does it really upset you enough to go to great lengths to stop it?

Site Related / Re: topicseen#new
« on: November 15, 2009, 06:42 »
I find it goes straight to the last post I read in the topic. It is very useful, and I like it. In topics I have not read before, it starts at the beginning. I don't see any odd 'jumps'.

I sold a tie today. It is really hideous. I hope it not someone's Christmas present!  :-\
Ah well, it all adds to the coffers.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Yuri's Site gone to darkside?
« on: November 13, 2009, 04:31 »
It is a great little application. I use it a lot. Thank Yuri!

I have had the same problem recently. I thought of downsizing the files, but until the site starts earning more money for me, it does not warrant the extra work. It is rather short sited of them.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Problem with withheld earnings on SS
« on: November 07, 2009, 14:39 »
Whitechild, I think it works like this:

               Gross          Total Withheld        Net
MONTH 1   86.50                 4.27              82.23

MONTH 2   76.25                 8.20              68.05

Totals       166.75              12.47            148.28   this will be paid.

The second month is added to the first month, including your earnings for that month. The third month, after is is paid, the totals will be nil and you will start again.

That last one looks a bit soft. We need 100% crops to tell properly. The links you gave are not 100%.

I tried to set this up, and couldn't get it to work. I intend to take a second look at it sometime, not soon though.
I do intend to set up a Squidoo lens soon. I have had good sales from my greetings cards from Squidoo links. I have just taken my down to renew and refresh it. A lot has changed since I set it up! My big project this weekend is working on Squidoo, it pays off.

Software - General / Re: What is the best IPTC these days?
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:49 »
I use Photoshop CS3. I have a large database of keywords and descriptions in Excel, and the two combined do the job for me. I know its not ideal, but it works and I am used to it. Since I sell other things than images, it is handy to have keywords if a form I can use with any program.
I tried a few free programs, but always came back to Photoshop and Excel.

Wow, that was a shock!
If the stock sites keep merging like this we may end up with one big site!   ;D :D

I hope they do keep Bigstock alive and trading. It would be a shame to lose them, they are a good little earner for me.

General Photography Discussion / Re: Favourite time of year
« on: September 18, 2009, 05:08 »
I like early spring, when the world is just waking up from the winter snooze. The light is clear and the blue skies are welcome after a winter in rainy England.

I know what you mean about the beard. It looks even more weird on a woman, I nearly got arrested.  ;D ;)

Dreamstime.com / Re: What do you strongly dislike about Dreamstime?
« on: September 13, 2009, 02:02 »
I have a great deal of respect for the owners of Dreamstime. Over the years they have always been open and up front about any changes, both good and bad. They treat the contributors with respect, and always respond to questions.
All the sites have the ability to change terms written into the contract, they have to in order to stay in business.

One or two people say that not getting paid is the norm and we take it as gospel? I just don't believe it.

I am lucky to get one sale a month at Crestock! I too stopped uploading there.
