I have almost 1200 vectors on BS and make $10-$15 per month, I really don't know why I still bother, but I do!

I too have had EL's of raster versions, so well worth uploading both.

It is also advisable, if submitting the raster version after the vector, to add a note to the reviewer 'raster version of submitted, (or approved), vector image.

I had 3 sales at $5 each last month.

I've just had an email from them lowering their prices, may help sales.

I'd like to get into vectors, and I think I could do some that would sell, but I know zero about the techniques in use today.  I don't even know what applications people are using to create the vectors I see.  Of course many are obviously 3D renderings requiring a major software investment.  But where are the 2D things coming from? Photoshop?  Excuse my ignorance - I'm strictly a photographic guy.

For vectors I use Adobe Illustrator CS3, although I do nearly all my preparation work in AutoCAD and then import into illustrator.

General - Top Sites / Re: Sales on Shutterstock vs. Fotolia
« on: April 16, 2009, 07:32 »
I only started this year and initially went with Fotolia, which I still upload all my vectors, and have a grand total of 6 sales, small portfolio of approximately 65 vector images thus far.

I joined SS at the start of April and progressively uploaded my images through this month and in 2 weeks have had 112 sales.

My expectation are low regarding sales and I plan, severe lack of time due to boring day job, to try and submit 5 new vectors a week to hopefully keep at least some sales continuing.

Im currently 6 weeks away from being allowed to submit my 3rd approval image on IS so cannot comment with regards sales here but this is one site I would like to upload to.

Newbie Discussion / Image Themes
« on: April 03, 2009, 07:52 »
Im new to microstock, have been accepted by four sites and only have a portfolio of 50 vector images to date.  Only started using Illustrator this year so still learning.

I have had a few sales and judging by the number of views on my images certain subjects, particularly environmental themed, have attracted the most attention, (views).

Now, apart from the usual festive themes, I would be interested to know if I should be thinking of certain subject matter for my future vector endeavours?

I was considering, and have already submitted a few images, of the Olympics coming to the UK in 2012 and the resulting interest building up to this.

Your shared thoughts on this, and your experience, would be much appreciated as I prefer to concentrate on a particular series of images as this maximises the limited time I have available, (day job to pay the bills).

Thanks in advance

Thank you for your replies.

10 Vectors submitted last night, you have to pick the illustrations/clip-art category.

I wish to submit 10 vector images, (eps & jpeg), for my initial submission.

A zipped file of the eps and jpeg files is not accepted.

eps file did upload but 'not accompanied by jpeg' message

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

This is really confusing me!

I have only been uploading vectors as of last Thursday and the only file format I have been able to upload is SVG, (including last night).

I did try uploading a zipped EPS/jpeg with out success.

Adobe Stock / Fist Vector Sales on FT
« on: March 18, 2009, 08:25 »
First 2 sales today, (1 jpeg and 1 vector sale).

This is quite encouraging for me as I only started using Illustrator a couple of months ago and I only have 29 images uploaded, (only started uploading last Thursday).

Ive sold a couple of photographs on Alamy and istock previously but these are my first vector sales.

I really must try and get accepted on more sites but I only have 1-2 hours after work each day so will have to stick with just a couple for a while.
