Hi guys, i have a couple of nice 4k footage (mp4) and it's impossible to upload in IS because they ask for an apple codec (Prores 422 Hq)... the problem is that i'm on Windows 10... do you have an idea how i can convert it this specific codec? I can upload my footage on other site, but not on IS...
thanks a lot.
Don't call me a d!ck but if you type your question into Google you will find tutorials and websites that explain how to create ProRes files on Windows regardless of which version.

OT but maybe OP can answer this:
It's great to offer 4K stuff but your file sizes are incredibly small. Sure, some clips have very little motion going on and it's understandable that those files will be smaller but even in clips with full frame fast motion you achieve a 4K file under 100MB with 14 seconds duration???
How do you do that?

I've moved to a country that unfortunately is on the list for a 30% tax withholding on footage. Previously I was living in Germany and got all my $$$ (both photos and footage) straight to my bank account.
Now, I was wondering if it is possible to retrieve those 30% filing my tax return?
Has anybody ever done this or heard about it? Is there any information somewhere? Or are those 30% just gone?
Thanks in advance.

4k has been around for many years already and HD is still standard. I doubt 8k will be the normal within 10 years (if ever). At some point we just can't see the improvement.
I beg to differ. There are and will be applications that require very high resolution video. Be it in the scientific or medical field but even the entertainment industry will embrace 4K/8K - just think of VR apps for Samsung Gear VR and the likes. You will need higher resolutions to get a more realistic experience. That has nothing to do with pixel peeping.

I cannot get any search results when performing a footage search on SS.
Can anybody confirm this?

I'm making a 1/10 of what I used to in the first couple of months when they started. So, you're not alone.

Ugh what a mess. I was waiting patiently, trying not to get upset about that missing ESP email but I also have never received the login email...
I tried to reset my password on ESP but also never received an email although the ESP site stated that the instructions have been sent to my email.
So I wrote to support.......
Pff.

I know this already has been mentioned in the ESP thread but I wanted to dedicate some seperate space to complain about the details of that email. Well at least one specific point that made me curious. Amongst other points of that "detailed" statement they say: Each statement will include: date of sale type of sale; credit pack, subscription, Premium Access (formerly Getty 360/Getty Plus), etc. contributor credit line asset ID, title and/or caption customer cost of sale royalty rate
Why on earth do we need to know the customer cost of sale? Don't we want to see our final commission? I guess we should bow to their feet for also stating our royalty rate (which will induce seizures to many...) so that we can calculate our commission for every sale? Maybe I just misunderstood.

Got canned as well.
Thousands of images that passed inspection with flying colors apparently are simply not good enough.
Years of work - gone.
Bummed.

... if she proves it is her in the photo, she has no rights whatsoever. rights are not determined by whether the person appears in the photo, it depends on whether the general public recognizes it to be her in the photo. stock agencies do not understand this aspect of privacy and likeness. ...[/b]
she will lose this case.
Uhm, Alamy reported about a lawsuit of a priest who "recognized" his leg (covered by his robe!!!) while doing a cermon outdoors and a dog lifted his hind leg to do a pee on him (priest noticed it). Image had been used without his consent (who would have thought he could recognize himself?). He apparently successfully won the case (as that situation was so unusual that it clearly could not have happened to any other priest) which also lead to Alamy's new rule (back then) to request a model release for ANY human in the image, regardless if it is just a limb or out of focus person. Just sayin'...

the way I used to fix this was a feature called something like 'text to field', where you pick a cell, and you can spread it out to many cells using a delimiter such as comma or space
To separate fixed-width text into multiple columns, follow these steps: Highlight the range of cells that includes text to be separated. Go to Data, Text to Columns. Select Fixed Width from step 1 of the wizard and click Next. Excel will guess at where the column breaks should go, as shown in Figure 3.9.
Thanks unnonimus, this gave me enough background to figure it out. For some reason I didn't have to select "Fixed Width" but the first option to make it work just fine. Thanks very much!

How can I import the CSV sales data from IS into Excel AND have a readable result?
Once I open the CSV file in Excel it's just a pile of long strings of numbers within one cell for each month. I can make out the monthly total, but not the individual sales types (Extended, Subscription etc.).
Is there a way to spread out the cells and align the numbers with the top line that contains the "titles"?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry for asking this here but do I see this correctly that at the moment we have no sales total available, neither on IS nor Getty ESP?
I do not follow the Getty/IS forums but is this issue widely accepted now by the contributor community or is there some turmoil about this and are there any more infos on when or where our live stats will be displayed?

Thanks guys. I thought it was Pond5 but couldn't find the option anymore and thought I lost my mind.
I never requested to get a link to download my own videos it was just there for a while but then it apparently disappeared.
Thanks for the info!

Same here. Waiting for payouts from last year.
Will leave them.

I thought there was an agency that allowed free downloads of your own videos, kind of as a back-up option.
I also thought that it was one of the bigger players not something like Clipcanvas etc.
I checked the agencies I am with and couldn't find it anymore.

Same here but slow speed only for video!
Yes for footage. Sometimes it peaks at 3Mb/s but then drops down to 1Mb/s again.

I thought this deal is only for a small collection within Pond5 who owns the distribution rights, so they can chose their prices as they wish.
Our regular clips which we price ourselves is not part of that collection as I understand.
Anyone has different information?

I'm sitting on a 1Gb/s fiber optic connection but cannot upload faster than 1Mb/s to Shutterstock via FTP.
Fotolia at least allows a speed of 21Mb/s
I'm using Filezilla which used to work a lot better than now. For comparison purposes I tried the FireFTP addon for Firefox but there I get only 500kb/s.
I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 running and was wondering if anyone achieves faster upload speeds than 1Mb/s to SS and which FTP software/Internet Security they use.
Any tips?

I'm getting more and more lost at IS.
So, the royalties total has been removed from the contributor panel, which is sh*t.
Alternatively I'm supposed to look at the sales statistics and hover over the bars to add up my amounts manually? I hate the CSV "solution" and was wondering if the "new" system on ESPAWS will actually show our totals now?
Funny thing now is that I cannot log on my ESPAWS account at the moment. It's been a while since I tested the ESPAWS when it was introduced but I must have forgotten my login or the login is currently broken (which wouldn't surprise me).
So I'm asking here if anyone is able to log in the ESPAWS account and if there is now access to the royalties totals somewhere? Just out of curiosity. I wrote to contributor relations but will be surprised to receive a response by the end of this year so I wanted to ask here for "faster service" LOL.

money is lost, nothing can be done. "fortunately" my income from fotolia is not that large
Technically we're talking about Adobe now right? In any case, I experienced something similar with Zazzle and it took a couple months to sort out the mess during which Zazzle kept the 30% withholding tax (I'm also EU). After the whole thing was sorted and the fact that Germany is a 0% withholding country, I received the past months tax withholding which Zazzle originally deducted. Since my tax status hasn't changed during that time, Zazzle transferred the withheld tax amounts with the following payout. So I never really missed out on the 0% tax withholding. The money that Fotolia kept in your case was intended to go to the IRS (if I understand correctly), but that should only happen if you wouldn't provide your ITIN. Since you did that Fotolia can keep those funds and get a coffee for that (no idea how much they kept). But I'm sure it is not their money after all...

So if I make a book, I'd only need an EL for the cover photo, not the images inside? That's the only thing that's been putting me off whipping up my exciting book "The Holy Grail of Meat: A Quest for the Perfect Crackling... and Other Adventures in Pork."
I've seen a bunch of my images on book covers, CD covers etc. and never received an EL. First it depends which agency licensed the image and the usage terms regarding the print run size. Some licenses allow tens or hundreds of thousands of prints with a regular RF license. To run after an EL payout will quickly become not worth your time. Time is better spent creating more great content.

Go to your STATS page and wait patiently till your bar charts appear. You'll see "DAILY" : click on it and choose "MONTHLY". Right above "monthly" you'll see the word GROSS ROYALTIES and (in my case) a box with "X" (like an image that cannot be displayed). If you hover over that X, you'll see "GET YOUR DAILY STATISTICS IN CSV" : click on it and wait. (I know, it says DAILY, but you get Monthly). You can save each year, divided per month, in an Excel spreadsheet. (but wait with 2016 until a few days after year end). If you get an ERROR page, start all over again, as the BACK button doesn't work.
Thanks for that. Another question: When I try to open the CSV in Excel 2010 I get a real mess. I cannot seem to adjust the rows and lines to actually interpret the sales information. It's just one big pile of numbers
