General Stock Discussion / Re: Who's primary income is from stock?
« on: September 09, 2006, 03:33 »
Personally I think that the market for images at Alamy is quite different than at microstock. My problem was that I was shooting stuff that would sell well at Microstock sites but submitting it to Alamy. To get any real money I think you need more than 1000 images at Alamy.

With changing my images on Alamy from RM to RF I said I would be removing all my images from the site(which I was going to do), they wanted to keep me so they agreed to change em :) I only think this would work If you have a fair few decent images up there.

I guess an income to me would be $500 per week absolute min.
I have been shooting stock for about a year and a half now, my collection is a variety of photographs and 3d images. I first started with shutterstock, I then started submitting to dreamstime and istock, I was fairly happy with the return. After researching a bit I then stopped submitting to RF sites and moved to Alamy submitting new images as RM. After about 9 months there, many images, and not many sales I recently decided to change all those RM images to RF on Alamy and am in the process of submitting them to Shutterstock, Istock, dreamstime, Fotolia and 123rf, I am already seeing MUCH better income.
My advice is to work hard, don't EVER expect to get rich fast! it simply won't happen unless your pumping out 50 high quality images a day. It will start slow. Think of it more like a job where you work long and hard now and get paid well later. I feel it pays similar to a normal job in the amount of hours per dollars ratio, it's just the fact that you don't get paid straight away.
Thanks. ;)

Just wondering who here is making enough $$ from stock to say that it is their primary income?  I am almost there!!
I apologise if there is already a similar post here.

Software - General / Keyword editing?? help!
« on: September 06, 2006, 19:32 »
Hi huys, Im new here and am needings some help with keywording. I have 1100 images which I have added keywords to in Adobe Bridge. They have been fine uploading to shutterstock and dreamstime but now I have started with Fotolia and am running into problems. Many of the keywords in the exif data of my images do not have comma's between them, so Fotolia is reading them as one single keyword! This might be a bit of a long shot but does anyone know of any exif software that could put a comma between the keywords to seperate them so I don't have to go back and change them induvidually 'god save me if I do'.

Any advice would be very helpful,

Thanks.
