Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime down?

Not sure which land mass you're on the west coast of, but DT is up for me (and has been all day) and I'm on the US West coast :)
Ok that's even weirder, I'm in Oregon.  Every other site I've tried works.  Oh, well maybe it's just a local glitch.  I'm sure it will work out.

Just says "We'll be right back"  been that way since 8am.  I've been wondering if they have been having reporting problems (wishful thinking I'm sure) as they just died for me back in December.  I'm not a big contributor but I usually get sales on a regular basis, every other day anyway.  But since 12/19 almost nothing.  Weird.

I'm on west coast, wonder if that's a different server?

No website all day.  After almost no sales there in weeks (1 sale since December 19th) I wonder if they are having problems?

Has anyone found a more efficent way of uploading photos to FAA besides the "5 uploads at a time" ?
None that I know of.

There was a thread awhile back on their discussion forum about someone wanting to build a Lightroom export plugin.  The answer from the moderator was that an API for FAA would not be published and that management preferred slow steady uploads rather than big portfolios being sent up.  AFAIK it never went any further.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Are DT sales being reported?
« on: January 01, 2013, 22:02 »
No sales since 12/20.  Very unusual for me.  I have plenty of zero days but never anything like this.  Also have 50 plus images in the queue since the 23rd.  It's like they took off for the holiday.............

Also, be aware that the check boxes for Exclusive, Offering and XL license, and Sending to free section no longer stick!  You need to click each of them every time.  I now have a few exclusive images on FT that are not really exclusive.  Not sure what to do about that yet.

Well, it says you are limited to 5 per week, and I got the impression that someone else would be checking the images, maybe a 'second' level reviewer?  Anyway, they specifically ask for images you disagree with the reviewer on.  I picked 5 that had been approved at 4 other sites, and no 'similars' as I know they are different in that regard.  I don't agree with their similar policy at all, but that is their choice and not what I think they are asking for here.

Dreamstime.com / DT asking for help with review process?
« on: May 21, 2012, 23:56 »
Did I just miss this or is it new?  On the refused files tab there is now a box that allows you to submit a refused file ID for re-evaluation.  The text says "Help us assess our review process by using the box below to insert the IDs of files you feel were incorrectly evaluated"  there is a limit of 5 per week.

I picked my 5 and sent it to them.  If this is real I think it is great, a way to simply disagree with an evaluation.  I submit to 5 sites, so I sent DT 5 images that were approved at all sites except DT.

Has anyone else seen this?

General Stock Discussion / Re: DT Headed South
« on: May 21, 2012, 11:40 »
My port is so small I usually don't worry too much about fluctuations.  But 29 DL's in April and in May only 2 so far?  That is hitting a stone wall no matter how you calculate the statistics.  Other sites are about on par for me, SS is even up a bit over last month.

Does this mean DT has the same sales but it went to other portfolios or is DT down across the board?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Paypal.... Scam
« on: May 13, 2012, 16:12 »
Most likely a phishing scam.  I did not get that one but did get several this past week telling me that Paypal had completed my transactions as instructed and paid $781 to somebody.  Please click this link to login and check the status of your transaction.

As noted above, NEVER click a link in an email.  If it is from someone you deal with, open a new browser, login there and check to see what they want.

Dreamstime.com / Re: New DT 2012 Pricing Structure
« on: April 29, 2012, 13:35 »
Don't know if it is just coincidence but yesterday I sold 8 images, 6 had never sold before and the other 2 had only sold once.  Sort of felt like someone stirred the pot and my stuff floated up out of oblivion.

Envato / Re: Photodune, Thoughts?
« on: April 08, 2012, 21:18 »
I just started uploading to PhotoDune and must say I am disappointed so far.  I realize the site is new, in fact still marked "beta" so Envato if you are listening here are my suggestions for improvement:

1) Approval seems to be taking about a week.  I am at 8 days on my oldest batch.  This is not terrible, but not good either,  I appreciate a site that can turn my images in 3 days or less.

2) Inspection, or inspectors seem a little random and worse, much too eager to reject for: "Unfortunately we're not able to accept your submission at this time as it does not meet our general requirements. Images must be well composed, technically and aesthetically sound, and provide utility for potential buyers."  I have no issues with rejections for quality or if you just do not want that image, it is your site.  I do take issue when an inspector decides there is no value to any of the millions of potential buyers all by themselves.  Most of the images rejected were accepted at other sites, and some have already sold.  Again, not a complaint, I send the same images to all 6 agencies and they can take what they want.  But for a new site, I hate to see you go down the Low Commercial Value route.  If it is a good clean image give it a chance please.

3) Errors for having too many keywords.  Probably the most irritating thing on the site.  I get you only want 50 words, I disagree that 50 is the right number, but it is your site.  But why on earth do make us manually figure out how many keywords there are?  If you know it is over 50 then obviously you counted them, right?  Then put the silly number on the screen.  Do you have any idea how much time I have wasted trying to figure out which ones to delete and get to 50? Without knowing how many I need to delete?  Silly, Silly, Silly.  That time should be spent creating images not counting keywords.

4) The site appears to have been designed with a far lower number of items in mind.  The list for "currently processing" on my dashboard stretches for pages, and I am only uploading a few at a time.  My portfolio is tiny and it seems cumbersome, I cannot imagine how folks with a real portfolio are getting along.  Again, not a complaint, just a suggestion that if you are going to be a stock photo site, you will need a little different look than what works for some of the other items you sell on your sites.  How are you going to handle 20 million images?

5) Acceptance/rejection emails.  Is it possible to get them in a single email?  Maybe there is a setting for this and I missed it.  I only upload 25 at a time but getting 25 emails is still a bunch and those sending 100's or 1,000's of images must be deluged.

Thanks for listening.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia survey
« on: March 22, 2012, 23:54 »
I got it and filled it out.  Which seemed silly considering my tiny portfolio.  I have done enough surveys, both built and taken, to recognize what they are after.  A lot of the questions were worded so that they will prove that reducing commissions did not have an affect on contributors.  You usually see something like this when management has decided on something but needs "proof" they are right.

Envato / Re: File name error trying to upload to Photodune
« on: March 22, 2012, 23:50 »
Thought I would update this.  I guess I was having a senior moment, all I had to do was change the renaming template in Lightroom and it will make the file name anything I want.  So problem solved.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the quick response!

Thanks for the quick reply and explanation.

Not sure I want to rename all of my files and change workflow to accommodate this though.  I've been using that naming convention for over 10 years so it is a lot of files.

Thanks again for the quick response, I do appreciate good customer service.

Envato / File name error trying to upload to Photodune
« on: March 20, 2012, 21:02 »
I tried to apply at Photodune today but ran into a problem uploading the initial files.  Took the little test, put everything in a zip file, uploaded the file.  Clicked on upload.  And I get a screen saying all of the files in the zip archive have errors.  It seems the file name contains the '@' symbol.  Well, yes all of my file names have that in them, that is how I have always named them.  And no other microstock site has had an issue with it.

So does anyone have an idea on how to get past this?  Any chance Photodune will change their policy on not accepting files with @ in them?  I am not sure it is worth the time to rename all of my files to upload here.  Not really sure how to do that if I wanted to...
