I feel a little left out sitting here in Munich, maybe "The Man" will stop by again for another dinner . . . .  the last one was great fun and "on the house".

Yes, if your plan is based on and directed at "All Sources" rather that profitable or higher paying sources.

People who advocate the all sources plan should then have their images on 50 or more sites and be true to the business plan.

If they are going to pick and choose, then someone who chooses two (which would really be four, because SS / BS and IS / TS) is pretty much play the same way, non-exclusive and picking targets by value. The only difference is debating whether the answer is two, ten, 25 or 50?

By the way, I made a mistake. I get 24 cents for exclusive audio file DLs on GI, not 25 cents.

And good point about Exclusives getting a better rate for TS. I also would agree 100% about Opt. in / Opt. Out as the real answer for all types of contributors. Every agency should be set up like that. Instead we often get railroaded into things with the only option be, do what they say, or go away. For IS I'm happy to be included with TS DLs at 28 cents, some people aren't.

When it comes to hidden partners and no disclosure I chose to Go Away. That's why I'm down to SS and IS Micro RF - Alamy for Editorial RM. (and testing on one other which I suspect I will drop when I cash out, unless things pick up.) So there's my personal All Sources.  :)

What I think I know:

1. No client will leave a site to find MY images elsewhere (this may not be true for other photographers)
2. The agencies supply chain is too diverse for collective action against them.
3. Prices will continue to decline because of oversupply.

Conclusion:

Get what you can from all sources, while you can.

For me, at least, there are only a few that is worth the electricity it takes to upload.

Thanks very much for the replies so far.  I am not sure if I am comforted or alarmed that others are seeing the same.  A bit of both.  Hope more folks weigh in.

Oh, and apologies to anyone not in the US for the complete incompetence of our elected government, if that is part of what's going on.   :P

That's probably part of it, but to be frank I think we have to except the fact that the market is just watered down with millions upon millions of images . . . . .  the glory days are over.  The crowd in "Crowd Sourcing" becomes bigger, . . . . remember the song "Video Killed The Radio Star"?  Things move on.

I'm seeing the same as you are, but with a much smaller portfolio (~1000 images) across all the agencies.

From Reuters:

** ADOBE SYSTEMS INC, Tuesday close $48.14, up 6 pct after market

The company, known for its Photoshop and Acrobat software, expects subscriber growth to top the 331,000 it added in the third quarter due to strong demand from corporate customers.

It seems the Market is a believer in Adobe's direction . . . . .

I would give them the jpegs as a gift and sell nice prints for your time.
If you end up with some releases you might make a few $$ on the Stock Sites.

111
Home page is diffidently Chessy,  personal  "Stores" are acceptable if they can deliver a half way decent product.  That's the question.

112
Because of the high shipping costs from sites like FFA, is anyone using fineartprint.de for clients within Germany/Europe and if so what is your experience.

I know the art world having played that game for 40 years. I will tell you for living artists its not about Quality but Value . . .  and Value is created artificially through contacts, associations and the like.

If anyone of us here on this forum had the possibility of placing a piece of work on a wall of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City (or other prestige institution) then that artist's work would have instant Value and the Collectors would come with their fat check books.

The problem is how to get on that wall.

"never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence" - said someone once. Either way is pretty sad here. It seems they can claw back and lower prices and move in pseudo exclusive crap on time though.

And I say:

"never attribute to incompetence when someone has your money in their pocket"

I find it interesting that religions are "Color Coded".  Protestant = orange, Catholicism = yellow, etc.

from Wikipedia:

"Green is considered the traditional color of Islam. The Arabic word for "greenness" is mentioned several times in the Quran, describing the state of the inhabitants of paradise."

or maybe the green lasers were on sale . . . . . . . . . . .

The fact is there is a new esthetic brought about, mainly, by the Internet and and its democratic-.  Sad to say, but the reason Professional Photojournalists are no longer needed is because the readers of the media can't tell the difference between a good and bad photograph.
Or if they can, they don't care.

My point.
The art of Critical Thinking is one of the victims of the Internet.

123
The fact is there is a new esthetic brought about, mainly, by the Internet and and its democratic-ization of information (crowd sourcing) .  This process is seen not only in graphic content but what passes for studied opinion (Blogs, etc).  We live in the continuing dumbing down in the intellectual level of the populous, which is a curious outcome of the Internet and its promise of having all vital information just a click away.  Sad to say, but the reason Professional Photojournalists are no longer needed is because the readers of the media can't tell the difference between a good and bad photograph.

Or, people might go to the port and discover that the poster is probably guilty of a certain degree of exaggeration.  If I wanted to copycat Id look at most popular, best selling etc not follow up someone trying to big himself up for whatever reason.

Never quite understood the point of bigging yourself up if nobody knows who you are anyway

I don't either.  There sure are a lot of Freudian Paradoxes on the internet.

"Nothing finer for a bad Designer" and a "token Asian Chick". . .  a lot of funny lyrics, sure made me laugh.
