With a small port (181) my last download on May 26, with only one view since then . . . .  this is really a deterioration from past experience.

It sure doesn't sound good when the little guy says "hey, why don't you go play with the big guy"

Too bad.

Brian

Am still alittle confused.  After filling out the questionaire it said that I could submit 20 images for review (through email address) . . . . most people here seem to be sending 10 images through the web site, so . . .  did I do some wrong?

What! just saw the D80 for $350 on the internet . .  boy, the prices for these camera sure fall fast!

If Nikon,  start with the D80 which should be relatively cheap these days.  Do yourself a favor and get the camera without the Kit Lens . . .  the fact is,  the quality of these lenses are way below the quality of the camera.  Like mentioned before get the very cheap 50 mm 1:1.8D lens . . .  great quality, low price.

For me views are normal, even had a $5.00 StockXpert pay-per-download the other day . . . .  but  am a little worried about the acceptance rate lately since the last batch was brutally massacred.

Love it so far Bryan! The interface is clean and easy to navigate, the site is responsive, the upload process was painless. Little details make our life easier like the online W8BEN and the fact that we didn't have to get the notorious ITIN or EIN (for individuals like me).

The next couple of days will be a good stress test for your platform and your poor reviewers... lol. Good luck to them and good luck to all of us saleswise :)

Hi Talanis -

Thanks for the kind words. We worked hard to make the potentially onerous IRS withholding tax process as painless as possible.

Welcome to Veer Marketplace!

Greetings

. .  but am alittle confused.  After filling out the questionaire it said that I could submit 20 images for review (through email address) . . . . so what does this statement mean . . . .

"This means you can now sign-up and apply to become a Veer Marketplace contributor. Once you pass an entrance exam (submit 10 of your best shots for our editors to examine) and then complete royalty and tax information --- youll be ready to start uploading your full portfolio. "

Yes, the current generation of people is certainly the most competent that has ever lived. Our Photoshop skills make the arts and crafts of the previous 10,000 look like tired old junk.  Our cunning business acumen, our instinctive market sense, has never existed in the world before.  We're just bettter, smarter, faster. Deal with it, baby boomers.

And we will never fall into the trap of previous generations, and watch our skills and knowledge become obsolete in the face of even newer technology.

We bask in the glow of success, defined as a 25 cent sale of a photo that's been done 1000 times before. Ooops it just went to 6 cents.

Not to mention the total collaspe of the world's financial market due to those very clever people . . .  "Yes, the current generation of people is certainly the most competent that has ever lived. "

Thanks for the laugh . . . . . unless of course you are into printing Dollar Bills or Euros.

The fact is, in the art world it didn't really matter how artistic the work was, what mattered in terms of success was being in a gallery . . . context is everything. For this new everyone is invited into the gallery democratic world, it seems the market says a good, high quality image is worth about one buck and I don't know how you would remove the people from the gallery unless you yell fire.

Hmm __ reminds me a bit of Jack Vettriano. In terms of sales of postcards, posters and paintings he's the art world's equivalent of Yuri Arcurs but was never really accepted or applauded by 'the arts establishment'. He makes a lot of money from churning out popularist stuff that the public wants to buy though.

Right, once you get past the chatter of the masses quality will suface, if not now then later . . .  sometimes much later . . . . the question I ask myself is . . . . unlike a canvas, will the digital equivalent last long enough to gain its deserved recognition.

612
Welcome to the world of globalisation.  Yes, this new world is indeed democratic in the sense that everyone is invited to the table.  I lived off my painting for almost 30 years, exposing in art galleries and benefited from that elite concept.

It's the first time I use the new system, but my keywords and description weren't read from the IPTC data.  Are you having that problem?

Used it yesterday . . .  all IPTC data except Description came up so I reverted back to the older page.  Quess there is stil a few kinks to be ironed out.

I can' detect any meaningful rhyme or reason for acceptances . . . . .

I think the spaghetti technique works the best . . . throw it up on the wall and if it sticks its ok.

Kngkyle, Whitechild.......those are some fantastic images in my opinion. I can't believe they would reject them. That is downright stupid on their part. I must ask a stupid question though. What is a raster image. I'm just a plain ol photographer and never tryed anything like that.

Its a non vector illustration . . . . not a pure photograph and of course not a vector.

And as a non-exclusive it will not help to post it on their forum. All reaction that it will have is a swarm of golden crowns that will rush out of the castle in defence of their queen (her name is "artifacting").  :D

Fantastically poetic Mr. Eco, and, sadly true . . . . . .  the queen has shown her wrath on more then a few of my images.

It does take time to build trust . . . .  once bitten, twice shy.

What is specially difficult to scan is Fujifilm (Velvia and Provia) from my experience. If I remember correctly, these films have an extra emulsion layer so darks are a problem.

623
I had a lot of experience with the Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED Scanner a few years back and never got the quality I needed, don't get me wrong, it was good enought for small prints but that is about it.  For top quality you have to start with an least an Imacon Scanner ($$) if you don't want to spend the money for a drum scan.
