PS: please Mr Musk, could you buy this agency and fire all these bxstxrds ?
Be careful what you wish for.
He'd just as likely reinstate the few bxstxrds who have actually had their ports with stolen images closed.

...they don't respect Biden, kinda like the rest of the world.
I can assure you, the 'rest of the world' (I can't speak for everyone, but from what I'm hearing and reading) respects Biden.
We didn't respect Trump, recognised him as an idiot ("does China have hurricane guns?") and couldn't imagine why anyone would vote for him.
I'd vote for Howling Laud Hope before I'd vote for Trump.

Can't find it using their forum's search function, and yours is the only hit when I Googled.
I always contact their support when I have a question, just to make them tell us what they should have told us already and made easily accessible to look back on.
Not that what they (are told to?) tell us is always accurate.  ::)

Imagine you are CEO of SS starting tomorrow. How would you improve it?
For whom?
Buyers?
Sellers?
Shareholders?
All of the above is presumably the answer, but ...   ::) ::) ::)

Have we ever been told about those connect sales?
Yes, to a limited and obfuscatory extent.
I'm pretty sure that was pre-ESP, so not in the current forums.
It comes up in their forums regularly, but  searching 'connect' throws a lot of mentions within posts of 'connection' to the front of the listings, and if there's a way of searching only on topic line, I can't find it.

It's generally believed that the big annual 'sale' reporting is via Pinterest, but I'm not sure if that's ever been confirmed.

81
I'm not sure that the search algorithm has changed for quite some time.
Never forget that any word/s in the description can be searched for on their own or combined with any keyword/s. All of your words might be relevant, but the combined phrase may well be irrelevant, and it's not your fault.

For example, if what I wrote above was an Alamy description, it might show up in a search for your fault or irrelevant algorithm or search phrase

And if you captioned a "crowd waiting to see Emmanuel Macron after he was returned as French President", that could show up on a search for Macron, even though he isn't in the image.

After a truly shocking Feb, my March was my second-best month on the rolling graph, though of course not a patch on the GODs. Total swings and roundabouts.
Wow second best month. Istock still works for you?
My best months at istock have been in 2009 or so.
But nowadays i do only few stock photography. Getting more and more in wedding photography.
"Second best month on the rolling graph" - so in the last couple of years  - "not a patch on the Good Old Days"
And February was truly dire.
Luckily, I can eat without my iS earnings.

I've been lurking in this forum for a while now, and it was very depressing lol.
It seems like the microstock market is a sinking ship, and I was really serious about starting to upload some of my art, but I don't know anymore.
Maybe people only post when they are unhappy and want to complain and successful people are silent lol. Can anyone tell some recent success story?
You mention your 'art'.
Stock and art are not the same thing, and you might be better served looking at some art selling sites.
(That said, there have been people posting here specifically asking about outlets for their "Fine Art Photography", which was anything but.)

The OP was photography related.

And the ability to be able to opt out of distribution sales in China (and anywhere else) is now live.

Watch this one, as a number of people who were already out are still getting these cheapo commissions.

That and we won't know how well the Opt Out works until July because sales take time to be reported.

Someone I know who got a distributor sale but isn't in any distro got the 100% when she complained. (Not one of the 5c sales).
I think to avoid the really tiny sales, it's best to be out of NU.
And complain heavily if your work is sold nder these schemes.

Newer to iStock/Getty.  Do downloads/sales end the 20th of each month too? I had 12 downloads in february but only 7 showed up on my royalty report.  Just curious if those downloads after the 20th get moved on to the March statement. Thanks!
I don't think so.
Are you exclusive with iStock?
If so, some of your files will probably be marked as 'plus'. Sales of these 'plussed' files count as two 'increments' on the sales counter, which helps you to reach your target.

If you're not exclusive, you'd have to email them to find out what has happened.

There is not a lot of information in the sales "report"
You get more info when you load the report into e.g. Excel.
(Oh, sorry I didn't notice RF, maybe not so much info, then.)

« on: March 31, 2022, 19:08 »
Just got the answer from Alamy:

Weve now added the geo-restriction to your account, so you wont see any direct sales to the territory of Russia.
Does that mean that they will sell it, but you don't see it and you will get no commission from it? Lol then :)

No, and you know it.
When I went in just after midnight BST to remove China from distribution, I went into Europe to remove Belorus, and discovered that Russia was still ticked as 'opted in' desipite me getting the same email as above, so who knows?

Just a reminder: the ability to opt out of all Distributor sales, or specific countries, is now open.
April is the only time we can opt out.

And there we go again... 50 sales today for $0.12 each ($2.86 in my pocket)

In my stats Alamy has an overall RPD in 2022 of $0,41 at 61 sales, which makes it place No. 7 for RPD.
It is time to leave them now :-)

Those downloads in the image, 14 of them are 1 time. Is that just for this report? Some show 4 times downloaded. It all looks like some big partner site that reported their first quarter uses.

No details on who and where, what kind of use?
@UnclePete:
I just checked all the $0.12 sales (times the amount bought) again and there is no additional information about the sales in any form.

Just what my screenshot shows in the original post...
A response on the Alamy forum indicates this is a distributor sale in China.  Just like back in December.

And the ability to be able to opt out of distribution sales in China (and anywhere else) is now live.

I had several of these today. I'll be opting out of all distribution in april and I hope more people will do the same.
I'll be opting out of China; but I suspect if we all do it, we'll all be opted in, like we were into what used to be the 'UK Newspaper Scheme', which used to be opt-outable of.

I am 99% sure I opted out of sales from China last April (don't know where to look it up as I can never find these settings in my account and have to rely on someone giving me a link) and still got a lot of 0.15 cent sales in December from China.
From your dashboard:
Click: additional revenue options.
From there you'll see if you are 'in' or 'out' of Distribution, Novel Use and Image Options.
If you are not 'out' of all Distribution, click on 'Distribution' to see which 'territories' you're opted into.
You may have to drill down further into the continent links to see which individual countries you're currently 'in' and 'out' of.

FWIW, I've always been out of NU, but I seem to be 'in' China, and so far I have none of these mega-tiny sales from China (plenty 'tiny-enough' sales from other places). Maybe the Chinese just don't like my photos.

TODAY I got ridiculous many cents income from ALAMY  >:(

Total 27 sales and my earning is only $1.46 for ALL, many of those were 0.03 / 0.06

In the past, there were occasional cents income from ALAMY I'm still ok with that. But today is totally too much....

If you'd rather not have these tiny sales, consider opting out of Novel Use and perhaps out of some countries for distrubutor sales, depending onwhere your tiny sales are coming from  (often China). You'll be able to opt out of all or some distributor sales during the month of April (only).
Not sure about Novel Use, maybe the same or maybe you can opt out any time (?)

Woops. I meant to say "subscription sales" in my opening sentence.

Yea the guy is a fool. No matter what anyone else in that thread says, he keeps repeating the same thing over and over again.

Gosh, in it's latest reply, he seems to think that it will be cheaper to send someone out to film something specific. Despite people telling him otherwise. I don't think he can be reasoned with.

So he should just go out and do it, not waste time arguing about it on a forum.
If he was a real potential customer, that's what he'd be doing. If he can do it to his satisfaction, fine; if not, he knows what to do. Or he can just not use a video, which often is the best solution. I see a lot of YTers sticking in at best tangentially-relevant video (and, for that matter, stock photos) of no benefit to their message.

97
With the introduction of commission sales for videos across a number of agencies, contributors are going to see a reduction in the amount of money earned on clip sales. It really is a sad situation with contributors losing more and more income. However, this guy thinks quite the opposite. He opened a thread in an online forum and expressed the view that stock footage is overpriced. He repeats this many times throughout the thread and never changes his tune. Unbelievable.

Yeah, but that's a knuckle dragger who can't spell or use grammar (says the Typo Queen).

Yes, it is a very good month.

How do you check rpd?

Divide total amount for the month by the number of sales.
Or just look on TodayIs20!

Thanks! Do I get the total dl from Jan 2022 download page?

If yes, my RPD is 3.32. Is it possible?

Yes, that's how I got mine.
I guess you're RPD could be $3.32. I'm only on 30%, so if you're on 35% or even 40%, your rpd would normally be better. Or you might have hit the jackpot and had one of more high value downloads. By far the easiest way to see that is via TodayIs20, but you could use their pdf or put their text files into a spreadsheet to see individual sales values.

Good month here.
Second best February ever, better than the last 2 years, RPD $1.18 (excluding Connect)

Could you please explain what you mean by Connect?
No, because I don't fully understand it.
It's some sort of pay-per-view deal iS has with some buyers.
