Sorry if you didn't get what I was saying, not sure why you think I didn't read the last posts. Someone said they hope that the referal fees would make up for the loss of income more submitters will inevitably bring. I'm sure they will far, far outstrip your loss of income, but for the other existing contributors to the site they will not. So by chosing to refer people in such an open way on a public forum you have screwed over those who were already on the site. That's all I was saying, and I'm sure you know this already.

If I was a contributor of course I'd be worried. It's a site that sets itself apart by firstly having great personal service (kiss that goodbye when there are several hundred times the existing number of contributors) and by charging fairer prices for work than most of the micros (kiss that goodbye too when supply starts to far outstrips demand on the site).

Nothing wrong with what you're doing, there's lots of people making a living in far worse ways on the internet. Good on you for being the first one to decide to exploit your fellows work on this site. It's just a shame for those who decided to stand on the quality of their own work represented at clipartof or to be selective about who they invited to join the site.

edited because "oublic" isn't a word!

You didn't read the thread or you'd not only seen that I was asked to find artist by clipartof.com. I was doing it as a favour. You understand helping people?

You'd also notice that other contributors had commented as well.
Think what you like about the referrals I DID NOT DO IT FOR THE REFERALS!.

I can quote Jamie in saying that she is going to LIMIT the amount of contributors, so those that joined up are lucky as she is going to be very selective in the future.

She wants focus on her existing artists and not be anything like the large microsites.
She will have her artists create from requests - there are her words!

I do stand on the quality of my work.
I will create over 20,000+ images myself by the end of the year.

People from this forum where excepted for what they offered, for there talent NOT to take up space on the site as that seems to be what you are implying. Quality not quantity.

I exploited no one. Those that kept it to themselves where in a position to exploit it by keeping it quiet.

If everyone thought like you this forum would not exist....would it

You should really have some idea about what you are talking about before you post false accusations.

I'd like to go into more detail about your post but if I said exactly what I was thinking I'd be banned from this forum.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Basic beginers camera?
« on: June 12, 2009, 03:50 »
Can I get advice on what the best (for stock pics) beginers camera would be?
Like the best click for your buck?

With a generic question like this? Probably not, no.

What do you want to do primarily? Model shoots with studio light? Landscape images? Night shots? Macros?

Basically any DSLR will do if you learn how to use it. Probably Canon and Nikon have the largest variety of cameras and accessories, Sony is likely to be called #3 in the market. You can't do anything wrong with any of their DSLR cameras.

But some bridge cameras (non-interchangable but still high quality lense like the Canon G10) will be sufficient as well. Preferrably one that can shoot in RAW mode. Depending on how much you want to shoot and upload, it might be a better choice for beginners.

The key still will be how fast you learn what you can do with the camera of your choice.
Yeah sorry it was very vague. A bridge camera is an all in one?
I'm confused by all of this. I'll start Googling what you kind people have said and creep back down to the illustrators section.

I just downloaded it and am about to try it out. This sounds like the most useful script ever. Thank you Dennis for linking this to the forum.

You're welcome.
I wish I knew some more scripts myself.

Sales reports are sent only if sales are occurred. Commissions are also paid monthly so in case sales report are caught in spam filter or lost somehow, you will see the payment in the Paypal or Moneybookers and ask for us sending sales report again.

Are you wanting vector as well?

Yes they are paying monthly and yes they accept vectors. I sent you PM with details and referral ;-)

Yes cheers
Thank you

Hi Dennis

If it's vector
I guess SS is an ideal choice
sales are well there, easy to upload, fast to approved
by the way I was asking the same question few months ago and I  discover that IST is my "Live Land"
but SS is very nice site for a start
Good luck ..
Sam

If you are asking you are probably beginner. Get cheapest DSLR in store (can be used) and start learning. After a while you would know what you need.

Yes sorry complete novice I know you point the big circle bit to the front and the square thing you look through to the back.....
I snuck up from the illustrators section. I'm a cartoonist and will be setting up my own site to sell me clipart. I'm planning on going on a trip around Australia (6 - 8 months time) I thought I may be able to throw a few pic's on the site as well as some sketches.

What I plan to photograph would be landscape, Flora, fauna.

I know nothing about cameras. (sorry how basic the question first was, I blame it on my medication  :-[)

My first batch went up today:

Thanks Dennis for your promotional rampage. You even found your way onto my blog and posted there. Hopefully, you received a referral fee for me.

-Cory

Hopefully the referral fees make up for the loss of income when the number of new competitor files spreads sales out a bit more than they probably are now. ;)

Thanks for your concern but I think we will all do well. :-*

Great of you to take that gamble on behalf of all the other contributors that are already there too!

Did you read this post at all?
Are you a contributor to Clipartof?
Are you worried :'(

Jamie's great to work with!  We worked together at another agency for about a year, and she definitely knew her stuff.  Great to see she's doing well.

Illustration - General / Which sites are easy
« on: June 11, 2009, 05:35 »
Hi Guys,
I use clipartof.com as most of you already know.

I'm looking for sites that are easy to work with. Any ideas please. Simple sites basically.

I do cartoons if that helps.

Cheers
Dennis

General Stock Discussion / Re: clipartof.com - How is it?
« on: June 09, 2009, 20:26 »
Stumbled over that site seeing some familiar names from the micros.

http://www.clipartof.com

Anyone there selling stuff?

Vectors seem to be prized quite generously.

50/50 cut.

As I've said earlier. It's a young site, not a huge business. Things take time.

117
is that the Jamie Voetsch of Fred and Jamie Voetsch who have acclaim images (macro site)?

anyway she said that are only after 3d or vector for the moment, contact them in a month or so.

Seems that someone has referred a heap of people and they cant keep up LOL
She's not with Acclaimed & they are moving office atm. :D

Hello,
I submit eps 8 files from illustrator in rgb (sRGB) to Bigstock. The server generates jpeg with weird colors, as if it had been converted into cmyk.
This issue has already been reported but never found a solution.
Is there someone out there who can submit rgb eps files to Bigstock without loss of the colors ? I know a lot of illustrators work natively in cmyk format, considering the printing side, and may not have this problem.
The same issue happens at canstock, but only yaymicro generates no weird jpeg from eps.
I think that the problem comes form the server side, but I don't know if something can be done from illustrator side.
Or maybe the only solution is to submit rasterised jpg to these sites.
Could you tell me what you know about all that, thank you !
Do they only except rgb? It may be a silly question but why not convert then to cymk in illustrator before you submit them?

119
How long does it currently take to review pictures? I uploaded some earlier last week and they are not yet reviewed. But I don't want to be impatient... They are probably drowned in submissions...

It won't be long. I know she has already loading some of the dozen or so that came from this forum.
Nothing wrong with being impatient, just shows yo're keen. Drop Jamie an email, she'll tell you how things are flowing. ;D

Microstock Services / Clipartof.com - for graphics
« on: June 07, 2009, 23:25 »
I started this thread - http://www.microstockgroup.com/illustration-general/clipartof-com-for-selling-illustration-and-graphic-clipart/

It realates to graphics rather than photographers, but was thinking some members may not always check illustration section.

Cheers
Dennis

Just a quick note to anyone who signed up.
It takes a very short while for Google to pickup on the added images,
Once this happens you should expect sales.
 ;D

122
For me....Thanks Dennis  for mention the site...
Jamie is very helpfull great quick respons through e-mail.
Within a few days she put already some of my vectors online including keywords and discription....
Here a link to my portfolio for some unbelievers...http://www.clipartof.com/portfolio/kaycee

Hope with this site I'm lucky so I could quit all other sites or at least remove all the vectors from my other sites....

You're welcome.
I hope you do well and enjoy the site.
Good luck!

This may be, but I'm still waiting for a reply to an email I sent three days ago.

quote from Jamie -  I tried both my gmail and my clipartof email accounts... Tell him to ease up on his spam blocker or to try using another email address.

124
The folks at clipartof.com are at the top of my list for many reasons. They are responsive, knowledgeable, and have a great customer base - plus they know how to sell.

This may be, but I'm still waiting for a reply to an email I sent three days ago.

She wil get back to you.

The OP is simply trying to get some referal earnings. That's not to say that anything he says is untrue, but I'm (very) sure Clipartof get more than enough new images through word of mouth. They already have a very substantial backlog of excellent images waiting to be keyworded and put up on the site and I'm sure this que would have only increased with or without the OPs help.
I thought that Jamie always did the keywording, which is really as it should be, avoiding spamming from the outset and giving all the artists a chance to compete on a level playing field.
The images on CAO seem to rank really well on Google image searches too, so this may also be something to do with the way Jamie does the keywording and SEO's the images appropriately.
Ask Jamie herself. She wanted artists.
