I'm wondering if the new rule also applies to 3d rendered apes, they can look pretty realistic, possibly to the point of being mistaken for 'real'.

Very slow for me also.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Funniest Rejection Ever
« on: July 05, 2017, 20:05 »
My funniest rejection was when a 3D render of a Mermaid was rejected at Fotolia for not having a model release. I wrote to them asking where I should go to get it, Atlantis?

I have a portfolio there, but I stopped uploading a few years ago.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Lost Shutterstock check
« on: May 19, 2017, 02:44 »
Yes. I've had mine lost in the post twice and both times they've reissued. I've urged them to work with Payoneer but they told me last time (a couple of months back) that there are no plans for that.
It can take quite a while for them to re-issue, though - maybe two or three months.

Great! Thanks

It appears I've lost my Shutterstock check!!! Has anyone had this problem?? Will they re-issue?

They tossed me out, too. My lowest earner, good riddance.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Can't get anything into my portfolio
« on: January 18, 2017, 15:16 »

Keep calm and upload them again :) Today I got 22 rejections for stupid reasons, mainly for bad keywords. I know I do not write irrelevant or stupid keywords, but sometimes my images are reviewed by someone too sensitive at some sort of keywords. I get this sort of rejection if I upload illustrations. If I upload the same illustration and the same keywords and description but with the EPS attached, it get accepted without any problems.

So the only thing that matters now is re-upload until they got accepted.
Have a good day! :)

You're right, no point in getting emotional about it, thanks.

« on: January 17, 2017, 16:37 »
I can't get anything into my portfolio! First I had 3 size rejections for images that fit the size requirements, later I found out it was a known glitch. So I waited a few days for the dust to settle and submitted them again, and this time they were rejected for keywords. I'm very careful with keywords; in the past keyword rejections were very rare, now it looks like they are starting to be a regular thing. I don't know what keywords were the problem, or if this is yet another glitch. I don't know if there is any point in re-uploading, or uploading any new images for that matter. SS is a mess at this point, and I'm baffled.

I got 3 size rejections, too, for images that fit the size requirements. Something is broken, people are complaining about it on the SS forums; no response from SS admin that I know of.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: no salses at canstockphoto
« on: May 14, 2016, 11:33 »
Last 2 batches 100% accepted and while sales have never been the best there, they are steady.  Funny how we all perceive sites differently, I much prefer CanStockPhoto to some of the more shady sites that have cut commissions and keep changing things that make it harder for us to make money.

Agree.  CanStockPhoto is still a steady, if not big, earner.  I get a payout every month and no drama or BS.  And yes, Duncan is there even tho he sold to another company a few years back.  I don't remember what company bought them.

Same here, I'm very happy with CanStock.

Shutterstock.com / Brand new rejection reason
« on: May 04, 2016, 20:22 »
I just received a rejection from SS that I have never seen before, here it is:
3D Title/Keywords Requirement -- 3D images require the phrase "3D illustration" or "3D rendering" in the title and keywords.

Now the 3d render I used underwent extensive processing and doesn't look anything like a 3d render in the final image. I usually put '3D render' in the keywords for any 3d render I upload, but for this image I didn't because it wouldn't appeal to someone searching for 3D content.  I guess I'll have to do it from now on for any image that uses any 3d content at all. BUT they also want '3d render' in the TITLE as well -  What the h*ll? I swear they've got someone on the payroll whose sole responsibility to find new ways to drive us all nuts.

Interesting, the system wouldn't allow me to use the alternative word for Hades, so I had to spell it h*ll. Seriously? What the h*ll!

Shutterstock.com / .38 for an SOD??
« on: April 03, 2016, 20:50 »
I just got a .38 SOD, that has never happened before. And my EL's, which used to be $28 now bring in only $25.36. They're screwing us over good.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Canstockphoto - is it worth it?
« on: March 13, 2016, 16:27 »
It wasn't top sellers. It was pretty much anyone who didn't already upload to BS. If you already had your work on BS you get a much lower rate. Way to treat people who supported BS. It was the first sign of SS's new attitude to contributors.
Not quite true.  I already had my port at BS but still got the bridge.

Yeah, totally wrong.  I had my full port on BigStock and still got put in bridge.

How did you make that happen? I was never given the opportunity, and I've been with SS since 2005.

Thanks for the info. Now I'm even more peeved  >:(

I understand completely, because I'm in the same boat as you. I got shafted by SS because my portfolio was already on BS when they took it over and ruined it - at least they ruined it for you and me and countless others like us. Like you, I also stopped uploading in protest.

Canstock has treated me well and have been been a good middle tier earner for me.  I support them wholeheartedly, and I say give them a chance.

Dreamstime.com / DT has died for me
« on: February 17, 2016, 21:15 »
I have not had any downloads in the past 3 days at DT. That NEVER happens, whatever they did to the search algorithm completely killed my port. I've been with them since 2004 and it's never been this bad.

45
It looks like I may have to deactivate my port on Envato, I don't make anywhere near enough money there to make it worth the risk of an IRS audit. That's way more anxiety than I need to deal with.

Off Topic / Re: What happened to gostwyck?
« on: December 23, 2015, 19:37 »
I think that the main reason so many people stopped posting here is because someone (can't remember who) was booted out of Fotolia after criticizing them on this forum. Shorty after that, some big earners disappeared right away, and I think they were worried about their bottom line. They probably didn't want to see $$$$'s fly away, that simple.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock acceptance rate
« on: October 30, 2015, 10:38 »
With SS, most of my illustrations get accepted, and most of my photos are rejected. I create my illustrations specifically for the micros, but with the photos I shoot mainly to please myself, focusing on what looks good to my eye. The vast majority of what I upload is illustrations. I very rarely upload photos, and I expect I high rejection rate from SS to begin with when I do, so it doesn't get me down too much. I used to shoot mostly for the micros and it nearly killed my interest in photography - I love photography again and that's what matters.

Like others have said, BS was a great little agency, till SS bought them and basically ruined it. I kept my port there but stopped uploading after SS took over. I no longer trust SS because of this.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime is on a roll
« on: October 22, 2015, 15:18 »
I uploaded 2 similars, DT rejected the good image and accepted the much weaker version for being too similar. I wrote and asked them to let me keep the stronger image instead, and I, or they, could remove the weaker version from my portfolio. They refused. so I deactivated the weaker image out of frustration. All I was asking for was the opportunity to use my own judgement as to which of the two images was best, but they couldn't even give me that. I've been with them since 2004, and they still think I'm too stupid to form my conclusions. Sometimes I think they just want us to feel weak and powerless.
