General - Top Sites / Re: Generic Model Release?

This is true apart from Dreamstime , so for 1 picture I have  3 MR:   1 IS  1 IS without logo and ref. and 1 DT.....jean

The Tamron SP AF 28-75mm 2.8 XR Di LD Asp IF Macro is an excellent choice, top picture quality. BUT take care there are a number of compatibility problems with canon, I had this lense for one year until it went wrong, Tamron dont care about the problem and Canon either which I understand in this last case. I have a wonderful lense that I cant use anymore...and I'm not the only one.
Now I stick to canon...for the macro above there is the 100 mm macro and for landscape the 24 mm 2.8, both very sharp...for travel I use the 24-105 IS L.

Thank you Miguel, I will have a look, at  http://www.lonelyplanetimages.com and will be back here with my experience if I submit at this place.
Will have to gather the 500 pictures first...

Anyone having good experience with Alamy and travel pictures?

And a  last question, what about the need of model release? I have plenty of portrait from China, peru, India, etc.... but no single release.....are those pictures mostly used for editorial?

Thanks again to the nice people of this forum!

Jean

I agree with StockXpert travelpictures don't make the volume and i like this kind of policy.
It actually hurts me if people submit such images to the micros leave with this market to the traditional agencies you never will get the volume that is it worth to sell for such low prices.
Two days ago i selled a travelpicture rightsmanaged for 120 Dollar (quarter page inside a book) for this small single sale you need a lot of downloads through a micro.
If you do Microstock do it right and give them the pictures this market wants, one of the best example is the portfolio of andresr he just understand this market very well.

May I ask what is in your opinion, the right place (non-micro-stock)  to sell travel picture. Alamy maybe? Thanks for any input, feedback

After having compared the two I finaly went for
http://www.ifp3.com/index.cfm
Now I have used 2 hours and have already a quite pro looking webside. What I need to do now is to download the pictures, this will so be the biggest job. I'm impressed by the interface, everything is quite straightforward and the support very responsive...jean

Off Topic / Hosting my picture library
« on: January 28, 2007, 15:44 »
I'm looking for a place where to put some specific pictures for sale. Basicly I'm looking for a place where I can have few 1000's of pictures that I can be purchased as any microstock or trad library. But I shall be able to make in some extend my own design of the site, and of course decide on the price. Thsite shall offer on-line payment facilities.
I have a eye on this place
http://www.ifp3.com/index.cfm
That seems to have the features I need, but the design of the web is much too fancy and (as a result) slow.
Anyone having an experience with them or having some other sources?
I have almost decided not to develop my own webside, there are several of software dedicated to selling pictures, but I feel to stupid to cope with those and furthermore compared to the price I will have to pay to have several GB on a server the fee of ifp3 is reasonable.
Thanks for any hint!

Hello everybody, thanks for this interesting thread, reading the above, I intend to use IS release for different MS. I hope things have not changed since June, otherwise I would appreciate to hear from those having new experiences with an harmonised MR (so using the IS one as common MR). Thanks in advance! jean

I'm interested in building my own web as well, my main concern is to get a search engine that can extract from my database the pictures wiith the keywords typed by the user, is it possible to buy a simple search engine somewhere? thanks for any info..jean
