How 'bout a full body condom?

Use DeepMeta, it will help you manage the model releases.
Yes, I get a new release with every shoot. Why is that such a hassle?

So this response tells us that:
A) Revenues must by OK or they would be willing to reverse the process.
Unless they are deliberately trying to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

B) Nothing at all really. IS will stop and turn on a dime if their Getty masters say so.

Let's all start sending him old lens caps.

That's a brilliant idea.
Let's flood IS HQ with old lens caps as a form of protest.

132
Might this be an April Fools joke?

133
This is great news since I have a fair amount invested in Canon glass.

Different era.
Different corporate masters.
Things change.
We don't have to like it, but its up to each of us to decide whether or not to put up with it.

I personally think its adorable.
My wife OTOH who is from Asia, thinks its utterly shameful that such young children are thinking about such things.

« on: March 26, 2011, 17:15 »
I guess it's an attempt to appeal to young "cool" and "hip" and pot-smoking graphic designer crowd - just starting in the business and needing cheap images. I have no idea if this kind of add works since I definitely don't belong to that crowd.
To me - but hey I am over 40 too:) - it just looks stupid.
They are definitely not targeting my demographics.

There must be some sort of serious disconnect going on.
Seems the suppliers are all 35+ but the buyers are all 20 somethings?

I'm over 50, but I must be quite immature because I had to smirk a bit while reading the copy.
Yes it's silly, and not very effective as an advert, but it does send the message that they don't take themselves too seriously. In this day & age, I find that rather refreshing.

^ They used to hire monkeys, er students, to shoot assignments for them and they would retain all the rights.
But I guess that business model was unsustainable, since they can pay us so much less  :-\

they increase the payout now after you joint they will cut paid..this is their game

I was thinking exactly that as well.

Is it possible to opt out after one has already opted in?
If so, when they lower commissions once again, there could be a mass opt out done in protest.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Yuri new studio..!
« on: February 22, 2011, 21:18 »
Gorgeous place and wonderful shooting room set up.
I would kill for a space like that.
I cant help but think though, that the old studio was more versatile for all its various pre fabricated set-ups.

Seems Mr. Arcurs is going in a different direction with his shooting?

Typical hard fashion lighting. No rejection. Probably get about 75 downloads over 2 years time, mostly extra small.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Calibration System
« on: February 05, 2011, 01:24 »
At work I have 2 PCs each with 2 monitors. As I couldnt get the monitors the same at home I took it work to see if it did the same. On each pair of screens there is differences after calibration, one is slightly darker on one pair and one has a green tint on the other pair.

I had the same problem at work with my dual monitors. I hear this is a problem peculiar to Windows machines.
I use a dual monitor system on my Mac at home and don't see the same issue there.

« on: February 04, 2011, 17:29 »
If you ever print images and expect them to match what you see on your screen then hardware calibration is essential. If you never expect your images will be seen anywhere but on a monitor or a cell phone display, then the 'mark one' eyeball is sufficient.

Not funny. :(

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Image Thieves targetting IS again?!!
« on: February 02, 2011, 19:27 »
I just saw 'the email'.
They took $14.30 from my account.

I hope I didn't have any of these sales in Jan.

Feel really bad for Sean. He got hosed.

« on: January 31, 2011, 16:43 »
I thought it was his instructions that were causing the problems. More profit, squeeze everybody.
That's what I'm assuming, though either Kelly or JJ said not.

What else are they going to say?
I have been lied to right to my face by corporate leaders in the past.
Different business same tactics.

I now take anything said by TPTB with a large grain of salt.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Depressing January
« on: January 30, 2011, 12:47 »
December was miserable and January is off 10% from last year.
The buyers can't find what they are looking for because the search has been wonky.

I'm hoping that my sales will pick up after IT gets it's act together. If not, I'll be pulling by crown.
I'll give it till the end of Feb.

150
You'll need 1,000 this year, 10,000 next year and 100,000 the year after that.  And then it will end because the archives of 'free' images will be large enough to satisfy the needs of 80% of buyers, and stock sites will be making it from ad income off of their search results pages.
