I just saw this fun little award schedule on Envato. If you sell $10,000,000 worth of content you'll be awarded with... Author and their partner will be flown First Class to Melbourne, greeted at the airport by the CEO, and brought to the office to be greeted by the entire HQ team.
Author will have a desk at the office for a week should they choose to come in and work with the team at HQ.
Author will be awarded a plaque at a special dinner ceremony with the Envato team.
http://elite.envato.com/ I'll take it! .. only a few million sales to go

When doing a 'professional' shoot, like at a mechanics shop, dental, hospital, construction... anything, I like to have a person who actually works in that profession on the shoot. That person (who often also runs the place we are shooting in) is used to make the sure models are acting in a believable way. That the equipment is used properly and that we are doing things that are actually done in the location.
So my questions is... what is that 'professional consultant' called? .. I need a good name for it, or perhaps there is already a name for that person on a shoot.. anyone know?

I want to get a print done around 40x50cm on thickish paper (a watercolor paper or Ilford gallery gold if that says anything). Does anyone know of a decent online lab when I can order such a thing at a reasonable price?

Here a recent press release from Pond5. Looks like they've created a nice little application for Adobe 6 Pond5 and Adobe have teamed up to develop a one-of-a-kind plug-in that gives video editors seamless access to the largest collection of over 1,1 million royalty-free stock videos, including 330,000 royalty-free music tracks and sound effects, all exclusively within Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
Users no longer need to leave the application Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and to interrupt their workflow, all - creating new content using RF stock footage and RF audio - is now done easily within the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 application. The new plug-in requires Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (or later versions) and Mac OS 10.6.8 resp. Windows 7. It was developed by a Pond5 engineering team from Germany, Switzerland and the US.
David Hemly, Adobes Technical Sales Manager Pro Video/Audio Products Americas, has created an introduction on how to install and how to use the new plug-in, and demonstrates which new and great possibilities it offers (http://www.youtube.com/user/dhelmly?feature=mhee).
After testing it internally at Adobe for a couple of months, David says: "We are really excited with this plug-in. It is an amazingly simple way to work with stock footage. It's an excellent workflow and a great way to add clips to any project. For working with your clients in trying to put together your project, this is really fast."

I have almost always just asked the models to come 'ready to shoot' and have generally had good to great results. I have talked to other photographers who use MUA all the time and they wouldn't think of shooting without. On my last shoot, I had a MUA because it was in a hair salon and the shoot 'professional' who was helping us with technical details was there anyhow so she did Make-up and hair and I was able to see first hand that it did really add to the quality of the shoot.. so I'm considering having using a MUA at least sometimes in the future.
So my question, do you have make-up and hair on set when you shoot? Or do you just let the models do their own thing and hope for the best.
Primarily I'm looking for responses from people who already have a little bit of a production budget on their shoots.. people that are buying props, paying models and finding good locations etc.

Digital Releases We are happy to announce that effective immediately iStock will accept model and property releases generated electronically by approved applications. This means you will be able to capture the necessary release information on an iPhone or Android app and shoot it directly to us with your upload. All digital, no paper.
There are several different digital release applications out there. We will accept Easy Release and VM Release. We strongly advise that our contributors use Easy Release. This app is available on iPhone/iPad and Android and works in all of our supported language. It contains all the information we require so you don't need to add anything.
We still require the same information about the model, as well as signatures and a witness. The difference is that you can now capture this information on a digital application.
We have prepared a FAQ page on digital releases including reference images which you can view here. http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=345451&page=1I'm a big fan of apps and love using my phone for everything, and see the benefit of having everything electronic... but... there's something about having a piece of paper the models signs that makes me feel a little more 'protected' .. perhaps I'm just old fashioned

There was a bit of discussion about this in this thread, so I thought I'd move the discussion over there to keep things organized. Have you tried Ktools PhotoStore or CMSAccount Photo Video Selling Script (preferably both).. what's your thoughts? Here are the links: Ktools Photostore, CMSAccount Photo Video Selling Script

as the title states, is it just Pond5 you can submit video to or does Stocksubmitter also submit video to other sites like Shutterstock, iStock or Fotolia?

Has anyone tried this site? http://plusgr.am/Their most sold image has a single sale so obviously they are new and it's now big business but an interesting business venture. I'm sure there is a market for a certain about of instagram type photos but whether is is enough to warrant an entire business or uploading at all is another question.

I just got this email from Fotolia which essentially provides a bulk editing feature on new upload. We are happy to announce the launch of a new feature that is sure to be appreciated by large content uploaders: the multi-indexing tool.
Imagine you're uploading a series of 50 images via FTP and need to index them all. Thanks to a dedicated interface, this new feature will save you time by letting you index all your images at once.
How does it work?
Once uploaded, all your images will be listed in a new section within your Files Management area: the "Indexing" tab.
To edit several files at the same time, you simply select the contents you wish to edit. These selected contents will appear dark grey and if you edit one by adding a keyword, for example, all the other selected files will also be updated with this keyword.
This works for keywords, but also for all other indexing fields, such as: Title, Type of file, Language, Country, Categories, Price, Release and Licensing Options).
Want to remove a keyword from all your files? Easy! Just select the files you wish to edit, and remove the keyword on one of the contents; all other indexations will automatically be updated.
We hope this feature will save you lots of time!

For me the month was pretty par. I'll wait until tomorrow to tally up my final totals but there wasn't any catastrophes but now happy surprises either. Shutterstock is still crazy in the lead for me, earning 3x what either Fotolia or iStock earn for me. As always, remember to vote in the poll http://www.microstockgroup.com/pollsvote/I'll get the arrows working again soon (hopefully this month) as well as a history graph, if everything works out.

Leap motion has got a product letting you control your computer in 3D space and it looks pretty cool
I think flipping through photos with a client or perhaps doing a first round of pics would be pretty fun this way. My arm might get tired if I was to edit photos the whole day though. http://www.togtech.com/leap-motion/

Hopefully you didn't notice anything other than a little downtime. The new server should be in place and working just like before. Let me know if you notice anything out of place.
