You do know that most of the people reporting good sales there have ports of around 10K or even more?
In this days and age many of us have double of that figure. But not good sales. Just enough sales. A lot of hard work with diminishing earnings.

Among RM shooters few come as profitable as Jeff Greenberg in Alamy. He is probably one of the two top earners there. I've found an interesting quote here: Search Alamy for Jeff Greenberg. His portfolio has over 78,000 images and counting...mostly street photography. He's a frequent poster on their forums and openly shares his sales numbers (well over $100K per year in earnings from Alamy alone).
Looks like we may see more such productive RM shooters in microstock.

RM is a green field with still untapped potentials for microstockers. Some microstock sites are making an inroad into it. It is less competitive than RF files which are reaching saturation.
How are you fairing in RM?

If you want to win in microstock produce photos cheaply and in large volume (meaning you have to do it full time).

Give it a day laddies, they should be ready in the morning.
Okay. I'll leave the stocking out for the night.

The biggest secret in microstock is: "Don't expect anything."
This way you'll never be disappointed.

If you have a large enough portfolio and a low-performing microstock site gets you $50 a month, then 4 such sites will get you $200 a month.
Choose the sites that require little effort to upload and publish.

My secret is not to shoot RM for microstock.

I always use Web Form Uploader.
It's more reliable and less stress.

exactly, as if the wedding industry wasn't already in deep sh-it due to the hordes of newbie photographers with their Canon Rebel shooting for a pittance.
i could add the music/concerts/gigs photo business is even in a worse situation, a friend of mine is on the verge to give up and move on to .. weddings !
I like to congratulate your friend for his foresight, wisdom and the courage to change.

....You have a lot of hate in you. Smoke a joint.....
Hate is good. It drives us to work harder.

Many microstock shooters are fine photographers but they are too lazy to work the market to diversify the market and expand their earnings.
A photographer friend moved out of microstock into wedding photography and improved his earnings from photography hundred times.
Microstock is like a bad joke to him.

Some folks gripe on and on about everything microstock (and probably this poll).
Others enjoy the whole thing with good results.
I've seen so many microstock shooters enjoy the whole thing even without good results. They are just passionate about photography and microstock.

.... On average this contributor group had 22% fewer sales in the first half of 2012 than they had during the same period in 2011. Stock sales reflect the worldwide economic conditions? Never lose heart and the hope that the sun will shine brighter and longer one day.

Processing of uploaded files doesn't seem to be working in CanStock for the past week.
All uploaded files are just sitting in Filezilla waiting for The Awakening.

6 Years are an eternity in the life of microstock... it's almost the age of the entire industry.
If you shot for microstock 10 years ago you might be on the golden age of microstock. When a photo in tradition stock could fetch $300 few were interested in producing for microstock. Starting 6 years ago like I did it might be a little too late as it began to be very competitive. Starting now? Well you know the story.

Wow must have dug down deep to find this 6 year old thread.
6 Years are a very short time in the life of microstock.

Looks like it's working now.
All systems go!
Another million of photos will be uploaded to RF123 by the microstockers in the next hour.

RF123 is best among the best low performers.

Sales on the site have grown since I last posted in November, but the growth hasn't kept pace with the breakneck library expansion. This of course means there's been some sales dilution.
I have seen my sales going down somewhat after February while maintaining consistent uploads.

Anyone experiencing the infuriating "Form Error" while publishing files after uploading in FT?
