Shutterstock.com / Re: SS' part of earnings???
« on: April 04, 2010, 18:45 »
How does SS make any money from 25-a-day subscriptions when they pay $0.25 per image to a novice contributor and even more to those who have been selling above a certain level? Subcription of $249 per 750 images (25 a day, 30 days) equals $0.33 per image.

its the same thing that "photospin" is doing. They assume that not every customer will use/need the upload limit.

33
Oh, I got 3 enhanced downloads last month... 3 x 28,00$ = 84,00$
Thats my new record, I am happy  ;D

I hope that will continue in the future :) What about you? Have you got also more enhanced downloads recently?

I believe you can't close your account for 5 years

after 2 years

Do you actually enjoy producing Microstock style images?

to be honest... I am getting sick of pictures isolated on white  ::) in the future I want to produce more creative pictures with on location backgrounds.

Which ONE company would you contribute to as a newbie?

shutterstock, photospin, istockphoto, fotolia and dreamstime. The others are just a waste of time (my opinion)

Can I really earn a full time income from microstock?

I think its possible but not very easy.

40
to be honest, I dont know how it works (photographer payoff) but its my second best selling agency after shutterstock.
It has overtaken (regarding my revenue) fotolia within 2 months, wow!

that sound good. I also thought about to use this camera especially  for landscape shots and for architecture (pros: focal length, details, small & lightweighted in comparison to a DSLR)

but only a max. size of 2640 x 1760 pixels (RAW)  could be to less for selling pics through micro.  ???

hi there, what do you think? It might has to less pixels

As you may know I am a contributor to Clipartof.com as are other members on this forum.

This site is pro-artist (The others that offer 25 a download are just a ripoff in my opinion) so I wish to assist them.

I need to help promote them. They are a low budget. hence the Google ads on the site. (I'd rather them have those than take a higher percentage of my sales)

They don't have an affiliation program...yet and they don't promote with Google ads. (Again these options would cut into artists percentages.)

Any Ideas??? How can we promote this site?

Cheers Dennis
