I think that what also interest the users of this forum is an easier upload process.
The actual one is a pain in the
or tax form submission process (right now it is mission impossible). I've stopped uploading when taxes were introduced. I don't like double taxation - in Germany and in my country.
This is true. I`ll post it if we find a solution for it in the future...

I have a portfolio of 1200 pics on zoonar for about 14 months now and havent sold a single pic yet.
Not worth the effort.
Please check:
Do you have set Model and Property Release Information? (we are not sell Photos with an "unknown" status). You can do that at "Manage images" as a batch process
Do you have activate our Distribution Channels? You can do that at "Distributor Management" (we use APIS/Picturemaxx with DPA and DDP for the german Publishing Houses)
All Release Informations are set.
I activated 7 partners but ddp images is the only agency that reviewed my pics and accepted them. DPA picture alliance reviewed a few, accepted a few and denied several.
All the other agencies like picturemaxx, fotofinder, getty images, universal images group, imagebroker all never reviewed my pics and keep them on the waiting list for 14 months now.
I have pictures with 68 views but not a single sale. The same pics do well with other agencies like Adobe and Alamy.

Dont`t worry there is nothing wrong with your Portfolio. Some Partners needs a lot of time because we have to add essential Keywords, Categories or german Translations. Some other Partners are deleted like UIG or Getty because different reasons (to small fees or no sales reports). We are currently using Picturemaxx with DPA and DDP. Other Partners just accepted special kind of Content and we have to pick the Photos manually... We are specialized to do all this work for our Partners and Photographers. With Zoonar.Express we want to try now to sell more directly in the future. But our prices are higher, we are a regional company and we are not a subscription agency. So you will never have the same sales like at the big 5...

Picture agency Zoonar is launching new RF licence portal Zoonar Express
Hamburg based picture agency Zoonar launched the beta version of its new license portal Zoonar Express today. This new site makes purchases of royalty free photos faster and simpler. The new portal features a high performance modern responsive design.
Zoonar wants to reach new groups of buyers with the new site. The purchase process on Zoonar Express is simple and fast and only a minimum of user data is required on the site. For example, it won't be necessary to create a user account, you can pay with PayPal. The licensing agreements use easy to understand language, prices are identical to those on Zoonar. Photographers receive a fair 50% commission rate, which is well above the average for stock agencies.
There are currently 7 million RF photos, vectors and illustrations available on Zoonar Express. The agency has plans to gradually expand the number of available images.

Yeah, I just asked them to delete all my images and cancel my account. I asked them 6 months ago why none of mine have been released, and why they all have the error of No English Captions, and I'm still waiting.
You cannot have sales because your photos have no Model Release and Property Release Information. They are simply not on sale...
But why are you uploading new Photos every day if you have deleted your account six months ago? your last upload is from today (image 13186244)...
Have you really just come on and started revealing private information about this users account on an open forum?
I didn't say I deleted my account 6 months ago. I said I asked for support 6 months ago and was still waiting. Per your email, I was willing to go on and go through the tedious task if changing all of my images, despite the fact that it kept logging me out and crashing, but since you decided to confront me in an open forum, I will be deleting my 1,200 images, not "uploading new images every day," until you had my complete portfolio of 50K images, and cancelling the account.
To everyone else here, in the terse response I got by email, Mr Krabs told me that if I would check the forums, I would see that there were sales here. Also note that if you choose to delete your images it will take 7 months.

And for the record, I have been doing this for 14 years and this is the first time, despite dismal results or problems, I have ever deleted my portfolio from any agency.
Im sorry to see that my trials to communicate are fall to the ground. My intention was only to explain how our database works so we could booth earn money together. Because Zoonar works a little different from other agencies with a different system. It was not my intention to disgust you. The reason why your trials to work online are crashing and your are logged out are an DDoS-Attack that we have since two days. The reason for the six months deletion period are partner contracts with other agencies and publishing houses who pay after printing (we sent an invoice after we get the printing edition so we need the photos some months longer to pay the rest fees). But your Photos are delete from new sales at Zoonar in one week. I see that small agencies have many bashings in this forum. But please think about two facts. 10 Euro per months from 20 small agencies are also 2.400,00 Euro each year. And what will be happened with the Photographers fees at the big 4 without competition in the future? I hope you will come back some days!

Just one advise: Many Photographers forget to set Model and Property Release Information. Especially if they use Upload-Tools. Photos without these Information are not on sale. Some are rejected there contracts 1-2 years after it, because they had no sales...

The photos needs Property and Model Release statements first. We cannot give photos with a statement "unknown" to partners.
After that it need 1-2 days if to tickle the automatic version. The non-automatic version is, if you don`t want to give all photos to all accepted partners.

The sales until march was from partner Polylooks not from Zoonar. But Polylooks it not working anymore...
Zoonar has no own typical Microstock-System (Credits, Subcriptions...) so we don`t have much sales in that category. But we have very increasing sales with our partner network. We hope to book the first sales reports from AGE and Alamy at least in August 2011, maybe in July. We build an international partner distribution network for microstock and midstock with many additional features for photographers (keywording, translations...). It needs many time until we have the photos online in the partner databases but we are on a very good way now with high increasing sales.
We also thinking about to implement these microstock functions in the future at Zoonar. We have all the stuff ready developed in the past, so we will have no problems to do that. But we don`t want to jump on this train to fast, because to many agencies did that. We want to go our own way. So maybe you will not have as many sales at Zoonar as you know it from the good microstocks, but you be surely part of an interesting new agency model with good growing rates.

For RF you need some of the booth release conditions:
model release available
model release not necessary
property release available
property release not necessary
But this is not only for Zoonar. You should NEVER do photos into RF, if you are not sure, that you are not offend some copyrigths like design, logo, trademarks and so far, because RF-Photos can be used for all marketing uses. For example: You have a photo with a jogging man who has adidas sneakers (with the three stripes). Some other sport shops buys this photo and adidias will ligitate that. At the end you the photographer have to pay the amount of loss !!
But: At Zoonar you also can release all RM photos to our partners. So I don`t understand your problem...
This is not how the Zoonar website works. You can enter "release NOT available" and still offer as RF. And I could not find any hint that this is not allowed.
And I don't see the reasoning. On Zoonar the difference between RM and RF is only the allowed number of usages (RM is one single usage with limited print run and limited lifetime, RF is unlimited). Nothing is specified on the context of the usage. Therefore it does not make any difference (for sales on Zoonar) if an unreleased image is offered RM or RF - there is no restriction on something like editorial only usage.
Granted, images with "release not available" are obviously automatically not distributed to some of the partner agencies.
But I don't see the legal problem.
From the photographers agreement:
"Photographer shall guarantee and must prove that persons featured and/or the
owner of the rights to this and/or the owner of rights to featured works [e.g.
decoration, stage scenery, costumes, (public) buildings, etc.] of the visual or
applied art (paintings) and/or its use for artwork has given the required consent
also for use of the picture material at a later date by Picture Agency and/or thirdparties.
If pictures of people or works for which consent has not been given or
which has been given under certain restrictions is submitted to Picture Agency, they
shall be identified accordingly by the photographer in clear written form (e.g. with
the words not for advertising or with the Model Release option is not available
selected). The photographer is liable for the full amount of damages incurred by
Picture Agency as a result of missing and/or insufficient identification."
Therefore I conclude, that it is my duty to clearly mark pictures without releases as such. Not more.
Ok, my mistake. This is how our partner network works ! If you have not one of these release statements: model release available model release not necessary property release available property release not necessary you cannot submit the photos to our RF-Partners, because they go to them as normal RF in the sale...

I don`t understand your point. You can fill out the IPTC metadata fields with every photo software. Photoshop, Lightroom., ACDSee... you can use every programm you like. After that you start uploading to your agencies including Zoonar. We offer FTP and the Zoonar Media Manager for uploading photos to our database.

Dear photographers, since there are frequently asked questions about the procedures here at Zoonar, we want to provide you with this guide. We hope it will help you make more money at Zoonar. Zoonar has two focal points. Our first focus is the German language picture market. Our second focus is the effort to set up a global distribution network. Zoonar is no typical microstock agency. Photographers can make good money at Zoonar but they also have to be more patient than with other agencies. As a rule, it takes about six months until new photos are processed (quality control, translation of keywords) and integrated into the distribution network. The time also depends on the selected distribution partner. Its your decision which partners get your pictures. This does NOT happen automatically. Thus, if you dont accept a partner and submit pictures no pictures of you will be activated for the distribution network. You should always select the partners Picturemaxx/APIS and DDP Images, because they generate most of the revenue. To accept a partner please go to My profile / partner management Here you can accept the terms and conditions of the various partners. Once you have accepted one or more partners you can start submitting pictures. You can do this in My profile / manage pictures There are two possibilities. You can activate automatic submission of ALL your photos by checking the advanced partner settings option or you can select individual pictures and then click on edit photos to submit them manually. Before you can submit pictures you have to give model and property release information. Even if your pictures dont require any release, you still have to set the option to not required. You can give the release information in the my profile / manage pictures section and then by selecting pictures and clicking on the edit photos button. Photos without release information will not be activated for distribution through one of our partners. Furthermore, the automatic submission of photos only works when youve given the appropriate release information. All photos which you submit for a partner are first checked by our editors, There are various reasons for this new selection process. Some partners require different minimum picture sizes than Zoonar, others require special keywording or accept only pictures of one price category. For example, Alamy only accepts pictures with 25 MB uncompressed file size, AGE/THP require 23 MB. Fotofinder only accepts premium photos, Picture Alliance only accepts animal photos with special keywords. All this is subject to change, thus more pictures could be accepted for our partners at some later time. Furthermore, the photos get new and/or additional keywords. Keywords are translated from English to German and vice versa. All photos you submit for Picturemaxx get German keywords. All Alamy pictures get essential keywords, which are required by Alamy. All of this can take some time, since some of the translation processes and keywording are done manually for best results. Especially essential keywords have to be assigned manually. Photos with a RF licence retain their licence when activated for a partner. The same goes for RM photos. Photos which are activated for one of our partners cant be deleted early. If you want to delete one of your photos at one of the partners you have to go to my profile / manage pictures, select the picture you want to delete (or several pictures) and then click on edit photos. Now you can delete the photo. Please note that it takes six months until the photo is actually deleted. Some partners have a blocking period of six months and then we also have to be able to account your fees if your deleted photo gets sold and this only works if the picture is still in our database of course. Some partners pay the photographers fee monthly, others quarterly. Therefore it can take some time before you get your first fees from one of our partners. Zoonar will offer more partners over time. But even now you have the chance to distribute your photos worldwide through more than 100 partner agencies. With AGE/THP you get around 53 agencies, with Alamy around 50. Photolibrary has 13 branches worldwide. It takes a lot of time to get your photos into the partner network but it will pay off definitely. Please check the partner management section once a month so you can activate new partners and/or sign up for our newsletter. New partners will be added and the more partners we have the higher your earnings will be. Should you have any further questions please contact us in English at [email protected]. Sometimes we (and you) earn more, for example if the costumer wants to show the photo at the print AND the online magazine (same edition, same journal). There are many possible reason for higher earnings...

No, you can sent the same photos to AGE/THP, Alamy, Picturemaxx, DDP and more partners via the Zoonar partner control. Check it out!

Apisnetwork (picturemaxx) IS Zoonar himself. That is no other picture agency, it`s a software database solution for magazin editors (especially german print magazines but not only). Every agency have to find his one costumers there, because you are not automatically activated from the photo editors. Zoonar supplied many of his costumers to picturemaxx because it is a easy way to deliver photo files.

Thank you for the fast response. But what now of the photos which has been selected for Alamy by you, but will take 2 - 4 months to be approved. Can you please withdraw those, as, by the time you have them approved, they will come up as duplicates at Alamy.

Zoonar paid ! We made the whole process and the money came also from us. But Polylooks gaves a part so it was a condition to release photos to booth agencies to get the money.
We also regret the decission from the german telekom ag. Polylooks was a very good venture....

At the beginning of january we have booked the december earnings from polylooks.
We think that Age and Photolibrary will be a good surrogate for polylooks (but the sales will just beginn in April 2011). And some more partner will be implement in the next weeks too. We recommend you to release your photos for our partners DDP Images and Picturemaxx too.

You can use FTP or the free zoonar media manager. If you registered as photographer you`ll find the ftp codes in your profil ("my profil / ftp upload") That work`s fine if your photo-files have more than 6 milion pixels...

Another question..
I accepted all the partners but after i upload, i seem to have to manually select all my photos and then select the partner again "pending partner approval" icon for the partners to show. Is there a way to have this happen automatically? As well the choosing the Microstock option?
Go to the image edit page. At the bottom there is a checkbox for each partner. Select the partners that you want your images to show up at automatically.
Then be sure to click the "Save advanced partner settings" button. If you don't, the checked boxes won't be recorded.
But you need to made release statements first (for property and model release status). We cannot submit photos to our partners without these informations...
