Dreamstime.com / Re: Is Dreamstime dying?
« on: April 29, 2010, 01:49 »
It's good to hear that some people are achieving satisfying sales on Dreamstime, however, I in my case, sites such as 123RF and CanStockPhoto have well and truly overtaken it.  In the first couple of years on the site, it was up there amongst the top three for me.  Now, in order of sales, the sites run this way for me: Shutterstock, iStock, 123RF, CanStockPhoto, DT, FT etc. etc. etc.

Well, I'm one happy chappy!

Over the past week, I uploaded 1245 photos on to the Zoonar website, after reading the financial incentive the company is currently offering to photographers uploading to the site.  Out of these 1245 images, 902 were accepted on to the site.  Out of the 902 accepted, 886 were accepted on to Polylooks.

For the 886 what were accepted on to Polylooks at .15Euro cents each, I received 132.90Euros.  I lodged a request for payment less than 48 hours ago, and an hour ago, I received the payment in my PayPal account!  Now, that's prompt payment!!!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've had reason to send a few e-mails to the site, requesting advice and assistance.  All my correspondence ended up being with Michael.  I was surprised by the promptness of his replies. This gave me the impression that this company realises how important to their business photographers are.  I'm very impressed!

Now that I've received my payment, I'm really looking forward to seeing how my images sell on this site.  With all the dealings I've had with the company, I truly believe they deserve to be successful!

I can do nothing else but strongly recommend Zoonar!

Here's my experience.....

In total, I uploaded 1245 images.  Zoonar accepted 900 of them.  885 of the 900 were accepted by Polylooks.  885 x .15 cents....I'm happy with that!

I've had to send a few e-mails to Zoonar, and the service is great!  Michael has always replied within hours, and he is very helpful and obliging!

There's just one thing......

I was working on preparing a batch of 45 images for entry into Polylooks and the APIS network, when I realised that one of the images needed to be deleted.....I didn't have a model release for it.  I forgot to uncheck the ones that I didn't want to delete and, consequently, I accidentally deleted the whole batch.  That's not really a problem, as I was able to 'undelete' them.  However, it appears that once they're 'undeleted', you can't submit them to Polylooks or the APIS network.  I wrote to Michael about the problem, and he was able to enter the images back into Polylooks, however, I haven't been paid the .15cents for each of these 44 images.  Michael is unable to manually credit my account for the images, so he's going to ask the site's developers to look into the matter.  So, my advice is to double check that you've got the right images checked before deleting them.

I'm now keenly waiting to see how the sales go on this site!

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Login Problems at iStock

Thank you all for your comments, suggestions and help.

I took notice of your suggestions.......clearing my cache didn't help.   However, I installed all of the available updates for Windows, then turned my modem off, and restarted everything, now it's working fine!

Cheers

Phil

iStockPhoto.com / Login Problems at iStock
« on: March 15, 2010, 07:04 »
I haven't been able to login to iStock for over 24 hours.   Consequently, the iStock stats in the picNiche toolbar are not working either.  I have tried many times to login.  This has never happened before.  Is anybody else experiencing the same problem?

Every time I try to login, the white login box appears, and the following message displays:

The connection has timed out

The server at secure.istockphoto.com is taking too long to respond.

    *   The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
          moments.

    *   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
          connection.

    *   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I sent an e-mail to them to request my final payment.  I promptly received a reply, asking me to delete all of my images.....a real pain, deleting one at a time.......around 1100 of them!  Within a few days of doing that, I received my final payment today.

By the way, Bob, I've added your banner to my Microstock Photography page in the 'Links' area of my web-site.  http://www.phillipminnisphotography.com/

« on: March 05, 2010, 21:36 »
Bob, I just tried to get my DP stats working.  When I try to do a 'Test' in the Custom Polar area, it comes up with this mesage:  Parse failed with error: tooltipRegex test resulted in no match.

When I try to do a test in the Custom Polar area for BS, it comes up with the same message.

As I said, in the 'Agencies' area, BigStock is listed, however, all of the boxes are blank.  I can't add my username etc.

Heya Phil
The BigStock and 123RF sites have changed a lot over the last few days. I've patched it but it's stuck waiting in the mozilla review queue for autoupdate.
You can update manually from the addons sandbox here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/policy/0/11474/81993?confirmed
Hope that helps :)
Bob

Thanks for the prompt reply, Bob!

Yes, I just did that, and now 123RF appears to be working up to date.  My last sale on FP was in late February.....that hasn't updated.  I logged in, but it still didn't update.   The same goes for DP.  My last two sales were two days ago....it still hasn't updated.  Once again, I logged in etc.

BigStock has not worked for me for a long time...months, in fact. I got a bit tired on the same old message coming up every time I started FF stating the No User Name could be found...etc. etc. that I deleted my details from the box in Options.  Now it won't allow me to re-add my details.

How can I re-add my details?

BobbieMac...a bit of feedback for you.

For some reason the 'old' BigStockPhoto icon is still appearing in my statistics bar.  It has never worked for me.  Now, the new BS icon is there as well...it's not working either.  My 123RF icon is there, however, it hasn't updated for a few days.  The CanStockPhoto icon is there as well, however,it only works occasionally.  The DepositPhotos icon is there, but it's not updating. :)

Apart from that, the FT, SS, IS, DT, Veer, CC, FP, PM, and StockXpert are all working fine.

123RF / Re: Site problems at 123?
« on: February 18, 2010, 06:11 »
I'm not having any login problems, however, I've had 85 photos waiting to be inspected for over three weeks.

I sent an e-mail to Alex about 10 days ago....I received a receipt to acknowledge that it had been read, but I did not receive a reply.

This week, I rang their office, and asked to speak to Alex.  The receptionist said that he was on the phone, and asked for my details.  She said that he would call me back.  Once again, I've heard nothing!  It's not like 123RF.....all of my images have always been inspected very promptly after uploading.

Is anyone else having a similar problem?

123RF / Re: Here we go again @123rf
« on: September 18, 2009, 03:43 »
For several weeks, on and off, Ive felt uneasy about the daily updated balance on my account.

I use the PicNiche add-on tool, which keeps me up to date with my sales throughout the day.....except for 123RF, which only updates once at the end of each 123RF day.  The strange thing is that the update process for 123RF, at times, can take up to several hours to complete - adding and subtracting various amounts....none of which, most of the time, bear any resemblance to the amount that should have been added for my sales in the previous 24-hour period.  I felt that on a number of occasions my daily sales amounts were not being correctly added to the weekly and, consequently, monthly balance and, at times, they actually appeared to drop, rather than increase.

A couple of weeks ago, I started to check my sales several times each day....bearing in mind that the 123RF day ends either at 1.00pm or 2.00pm Sydney time.....I'm not 100% sure....as some days the subtracting and adding commences at around 1.00pm, and other days closer to 2.00pm.  Some days, this can go on for a number of hours.

A couple of weeks ago, on a couple of days, first thing in the morning, I wrote down my monthly total, and my total sales amounts.  Throughout the day, up until 1.00pm, I recorded any sales that I had accumulated.  What I found was that after the adding/subtracting process completed (after the end of the 123RF day), the monthly/total balance amounts seemed to be less than the figure that Id come up with, after adding the sales from that particular 24-hour period to the monthly/total balance.  It appeared that I was receiving the correct amount earned from credit sales; however, it seemed that I was missing out on my earnings obtained from subscription sales.

I wrote to 123RF about this matter, and expressed my concerns.  I even captured screendumps to substantiate my query, and attached them to my e-mail.

Within a short time I received the following reply:

Quote
I would advise against checking your earnings on 123rf 10 to 15 times per day. This is because pulling up the detailed earnings report does take a heavy toll on our system. It has to recalculate all the earnings from previous months and tally things up for you. As a result the system may or may not report your earnings accurately as the script does take some time to calculate out everything.

My advice to you is, if you find any problems with your earnings and if it persists for more than 2 days, do bring the matter to our attention, I believe checking your earnings 2 times a day at most is more than sufficient.

Thank you very much!

I'm afraid I didn't find that answer very helpful, and I felt my concerns were not addressed.

Over the past week, I just haven't had the time to keep a close eye on what's been happening to my account, however, a couple of days ago, I started to take a particular interest in it, and once again, the total sales figure did not match what I felt it should have been after the sales I'd achieved during the previous day.

Once again, I wrote to 123RF.  I sent a detailed e-mail, documenting a number of additions and subtractions that occurred at the usual time of the day, on that day.

Yesterday, at 12.16 pm, Sydney time, I wrote down my current monthly balance......$22.65.  I had two sales.....one subscription sale, and one credit sale of $1.29....totalling $1.65.  After the update yesterday afternoon (again after the usual subtracting and adding process), my monthly balance stood at $23.94.  The increase in my monthly sales is exactly $1.29.  So, what happened to the 36c from my subscription sale?   This confirmed in my mind that it appears to be the credit sales that seem 'go missing' at times.

After the update today, Im more confused than ever.

In the 24 hours period of the 17th, I had two subscription sales.  Earlier in the day, my account updated to $24.30and increase in 36c, which appears to be the amount of the subscription sale that was not recorded yesterday.  However, after 1.00pm, my account updated again.this time; it dropped $1.55 from $24.30 to $22.75.  Hours later, just a few minutes ago, it updated again back to $24.30.  However, once again, the funds for the two subscription sales have not yet been added.

To be honest, there are so many updates, both adding to, and subtracting various amounts from my current balance, none of which make sense most of the time, that Ive completely lost track of what the balance of my account should be.  I just cant see why 123RF dont have set out all of the sales each photographer has in a similar way to iStock and other sites.

Unlike last time, when I received a reply from 123RF within 24 hours, as yet, I have not had a reply from the detailed e-mail I sent two days ago.

Am I the only one having this problem, now, or are others still experiencing this problem?

Veer / How Do I View My Portfolio?
« on: June 27, 2009, 00:58 »
Last weekend I uploaded the required 10 images to comply with the application process.  Today, I had eight of my images approved, and I was permitted to upload another 100 images.

IMO it's a very user-friendly site.

I do, however, have a slight problem.......how can I view my portfolio?  I'm able to view my approved images in the Dashboard, however, I'm trying to find a way of viewing my online images, like I can on iStock, Dreamstime, Fotolia etc.  On all of the other sites that I upload to, my public profile page either incorporates my portfolio, or a link to my portfolio.  Perhaps the link is staring me in the face, and I just haven't found it.  Oh, and by the way, I haven't been drinking! :)
