How are the inspections going?

I've now got 434 images awaiting inspection, that I've uploaded over the past four weeks.

Just wondering if others are sharing the same experience.......

Pretty disappointing!  17 x 30c subscription sales in over three months!

Last week, I joined the site, and uploaded 1628 images.  Within three to four days, all of my images were inspected.

I was a tad surprised at the number of images they rejected.....465 images.

What surprised me more was that many of the images they rejected were accepted on iStock, Dreamstime and SS, and some of them are my best sellers.  In fact, one of the images that was rejected is my third highest 25-A-Day earner, and my highest Enhanced earner on SS.

Now I'm hoping for a few sales! :)

Yes, I had a few Polylooks sales as well.  I was surprised to see my account suddenly jump up by a few Euros on the 1st of June!  I've only been on the site around a month.  I've had more sales on this site in that short period of time than I've had in months on some other sites that I've go my images on.

I've just received the following e-mail from the site:

Dear customers and photographers,

in preparation for the Zoonar relaunch our website will temporarily not be available from Wednesday, June 2nd to Friday, June 4th. Our website might not be available at all on Thursday and Friday. During this period picture uploads and picture sales will not be possible.

We ask for your understanding!

Important news for photographers: the Zoonar content campaign in cooperation with Polylooks will be extended thanks to the great success! Another 100,000 images will be accepted, so now 170,000 images remain in total (as of June 1st). You will get 15 euro cent for each accepted image which is released for Polylooks!

An important tip for those who want to upload many images: please upload your images sorted by themes and series. This makes the translation process much easier and less time-consuming for us, which in return allows you to upload more pictures and earn much more money. Many photographers mix their themes and series to give the impression of variety, in the hope that the editors will not reject too many similar photos. However this actually leads to more rejections for efficiency reasons - it is much more time consuming to translate keywords for, say, 3 images from a series, then translate keywords for a different batch of images and then another series and another series (only a couple of images from each series) only to return to the first series later with another 3 images. These additional 3 images might get rejected then to save us some time. If, however, your entire series is uploaded in sequence we can translate this series at once.
As you can see we can process sorted themes and series much faster which leads to a much higher acceptance rate.

Going by the sales I've already had, the prompt and helpful replies to e-mails that I've sent to the staff, I think this site might turn out to be a winner in the long run!

Has anyone had their five sample images inspected yet?

81
I had my BME on Shutterstock.....by over $70.00.  :)

iStock was about the same, however, in the middle of the month the total got a boost of around $40.00 from subscription sales.  Dreamstime is a disappointment for me - even with more images in my pf, my sales are not picking up at all.  CanStockPhoto was only fair this month, after my BME last month.  I had my first payout from Panthermedia....however, it's taken a long time to reach that point.  The other sites are roughly the same as they have always been.

The day the promotion started, I started submitting images.  One week later, the first batch were inspected, and 79 were accepted on to the site.  Last week I, too, received the earnings update stating that I had 77 images approved, and that had earned me $53.90.  I'm happy with that, however, I don't quite know why I'm only being paid for 77 when 79 were approved. :)  I guess it will all 'turn out in the wash'. :)

Since then, I now have another 328 images awaiting inspection.  Over 100 of these have now been waiting to be inspected for two and a half weeks.  I'm patient.  Veer has pledged to pay for all images that are accepted between the 5th of May and the 30th of June.  So, even if none of my images are inspected until July, I still know that I'll be paid for the accepted ones.

I've worked out that I'll be able to submit another 500 images between now and the end of the promotion.  That means I will have uploaded around 900 images during the promotion.  Due to the fact that I already had 428 images approved prior to the promotion, there's a strong possibility, provided I continue to achieve my current success rate of a bit over 70%, that I'll receive $1.40 for each image accepted during the promotion.  Here's hoping!!!! :)

I'll let you know how I go. :)

PicNiche Toolbar / Re: picNiche Pollers
« on: May 26, 2010, 04:27 »
Had 1 sale at SSP and not at Zoonar !  so not worth my while !!  sorry :)

Plus if they change the page layout, u have to redo the poller !!  which is why u need to do it yourself !

Give it a go !  what u got to lose !?  ;)

I would if I knew what to put in the boxes! :)  I gave it a try yesterday, however, after I clicked on 'OK' button, it didn't appear in the list.  Consequently, I don't know how to get a poller up and running. :)

The upload is painless by FTP. The model release module is primitive. You will have to stitch your model releases together in case there is more than one model in the image. Average sale 1 per month, with 380 images online.

Yes, I see what you mean.

Yesterday, I uploaded 41 photos.  I then tried to transfer the FTP uploads to the editing queue.  However, I couldn't work out what was going on....I was looking for some type of progress indicator....to let me know when the transfer had finished.  I didn't get an indicator, so I hit the get FTP uploads again, and after a few minutes, I hit it again.  Consequently, I ended up with four of each photo, so I had to sit here and delete one image at a time.

Stitching the model releases together isn't a concern.....iStock require them to be uploaded that way, so I already had them ready to go.

I'm currently uploading nearly 1700 images using FTP.  When the upload process has completed, in around 24 hours frpm now, I'll make sure I only hit the transfer button once, and leave it all night.  Hopefully, next morning, the 1700 will be in the waiting to be edited queue!  I certainly won't click on the button twice, this time!!! :)

PicNiche Toolbar / Re: picNiche Pollers
« on: May 26, 2010, 04:14 »
You have to get the info of your home page there !  It's called Screen Scraping !!  lol

Then enter the info into a blank poller.  Not advised for the total programming novice !!  ;)

Yep, that's me......a total programming novice!!! :)

That's why I started this thread.....to see if anybody else could get pollers up and running for these two sites. :)

I notice that there is not a picNiche poller available for ScandinavianStockPhoto or Zoonar.

I have no idea how to get a poller up and running for those two sites.  Does anybody know how to get a poller up and running for these two sites?

I'm just wondering if it's worth uploading to this site.

I've joined up, uploaded my model releases, and I've been sent the FTP details via e-mail.

I haven't started uploading yet, and before I do, I'd like to hear some 'recent' feedback about the site.

Is anybody having sales on this site?

Veer / Re: Veer Dash for Cash

I submitted my first batch of 100 on May 11th and 12th and they are still in the Q. I submitted another 90 the following week, so I have a total of 190 sitting in the q to be inspected. I don't want to submit any more until I see what the acceptance rate is going to be, whether old model releases are going to be rejected, etc.

Yes, I believe they must be inundated. But wouldn't they have geared up a little for that?
[/quote]

My acceptance rate was nearly 70% for the first batch.  :)

I'm just hoping that I can achieve that acceptance rate from each batch.  If so, I'll get between 500 and 600 images accepted during the promotion.  That would be a nice little earner......at $1.40 each! :)

Veer / Re: Veer Dash for Cash
« on: May 25, 2010, 05:22 »
I submitted 100 images on the day this promotion started, and they were inspected one week later....on the 5th of May.  On that same day, I submitted another 100 images.

On the 17th of May, I submitted another 100 images.  I now have 200 images in the queue waiting to be inspected.  This means that if the 100 images that I submitted on the 5th of May,  haven't been inspected by tomorrow, they will have been in the queue for two weeks.

I'm in no way complaining.....I'm sure the inspectors have been inundated with new images.......I'm just wondering if other people have images that have been in the 'waiting for inspection' queue for two weeks.

90
I have 1043 images online.  I've only had two sales, totalling $5.20.  The site is claiming that my images have had 6184 views.

91
I don't know if I'm going a bit loopy, but I'm a bit confused...... :)

I deleted my account at StockXpert when it closed down, however, ever since I commenced uploading to IS, I've always clicked the partner program box.  Does that mean that my images are now also on Thinkstock?  If it does, where can I view my Thinkstock sales?

The weirdest thing has been happening lately.

I use the Picniche toolbar.

Out of the blue, a number of small sales come in......sometimes one after the other...adding up to 10 or 20 dollars.  This happened yesterday afternoon, again.

When I clicked on the IS icon in the Picniche toolbar, there was no record of any sales yesterday.  There are still no sales listed that correspond to the mass of sales that appeared yesterday.

Would these sales be Thinkstock sales?

Does this happen to anyone else who uses the Picniche toolbar?

Veer / Re: Veer - Dash For Cash - Inspection Time
« on: May 13, 2010, 22:01 »
I've just had 69 approved out of the 100 images that I submitted on the 5th of May.  I'm happy with the approval percentage! :)

If that approval percentage applies to the other 700 images that I'll submit between now and the 30th of June, I'll be thoroughly stoked! :)  I had 428 images approved before the commencement of the Dash for Cash promotion. :)

Veer / Veer - Dash For Cash - Inspection Time

Just wondering........

Has anyone with images submitted either on or after the 5th of May had them inspected as yet?

I submitted 100 on the 5th, and another 100 yesterday.   As yet, I haven't had any inspected.

Hi were can I see the rejected ones?
I don't know if the upload process was correct.
I uploaded 50 but forgot to look if the upload process was ok/finished and now 2 are online.....
Yes only 2, so were are the rest of my images are the gone or all rejected?
For the second batch I uploaded also 50 but only 26 are under review right now....where  is the rest (24 images) ?

Yes, this is one frustrating issue that I have with this site!

Yesterday, I uploaded 158 images, however, only 122 showed up in the 'Under Review' queue.

It really frustrates me that I'm unable to view which of my images are in the 'Under Review' queue.   Obviously, for some reason, 36 of my image uploaded images 'went missing', and because of the uploading process, I'm unable to ascertain which of the images 'went missing'.

I'm glad I stuck with Veer!!!

I joined the site last year, and I have 428 images in my portfolio.  Consequently, when I received the e-mail from Veer yesterday, about this latest promotion, I was pretty happy!

In the last 18 hours, I've been flat out uploading images using FileZilla.  So far, I've uploaded over 600 images, 110 of which are now in the 'Pending' queue, awaiting inspection.  I haven't had any problems uploading, and all titles, keywords etc. worked just fine.  I still have another 400 images to upload.

Now I'm eagerly waiting to see how many of my images will be accepted.  I'm hoping for 400-500 acceptances, out of the 900 I'm submitting. :)  To get the 428 images in my portfolio, I uploaded 763, which is success rate of around 56%.

Time will tell! :)

Off Topic / Re: Magazine Front Cover

Congrats. Where did you sell it?

I hope you got more than 25 cents at Shutterstock for this one. Would be a shame if you spent all the money on the magazines...

Actually, I didn't get any money for it. :(

One of my mates owns http://www.southernhighlandwines.com/.....the largest winery/cellar door on the Southern Highlands, in NSW, Australia.  He asked me to take some shots of their functions manager on her wedding day, and they bought the inside cover of the magazine to advertise their winery, which is very popular for weddings.  Apparently the manager of the magazine offered them the front cover, as part of the deal, so they submitted some of my photos of her wedding, and the editor chose this one.  I guess my mate is just lucky that I'm a photographer! :)

Don't worry, I can have as much free wine as I want, and I'm quite often out there for lunch! :)

Oh, and if I'd sold it at Shutterstock, I would have made 11 cents more than that......36cents! :)

Very Nice, congrats ....

How many issues have you purchased?  ;)

:)  I picked up five copies......a couple to keep, and the rest I've sent out to family and a couple of friends. :)

Thanks for the congrats!

Pardon me for bragging, but I'm pretty happy! :)

A regional wedding magazine, here in Australia, has used one of my photos for the front cover.

The editor also used a few of my photos on the inside front cover as well, however, I'm not all that happy with the quality of their reproduction. You can see them by clicking the arrow on the right-hand side of the front cover image.

CanStockPhoto.com / CanStockPhoto Sales Picking Up!
« on: April 29, 2010, 01:59 »
I don't know how the rest of you are all going on CanStockPhoto but, for me, sales have really started to pick up!

I've had two decent-sized sales during April....one for $26.06 and another for $19.80.  On top of that I had quite a few subscription and guest sales.  Let's hope this is a sign of things to come! :)
