« on: January 22, 2010, 04:02 »
I could not find an affiliate link in this thread so here is mine http://submit.depositphotos.com?ref=1001512.

That's a joke of course.  But the affiliate link is mine and works.

They do seem to be spending some marketing $$$ because I have seen their banners on many sites before the affiliate program was started (including my site Microstock Photography).  This would at least say they have some cash to back the project.

I have given them a try and have been happy with the site and flow so far.  Lets hope they can bring the buyers when the site goes live.
My is in my referral links, but for some reason it doesn't work. I even copy and pasted it like they said to do on the site. I contacted support about it and hopefully they can fix the problem. Let's see if it works on this post.  http://submit.depositphotos.com?ref=1003669

EDIT; it still doesn't appear to work......grrrrrr

You don't seem to have the url  tags in the right place !?

Copy the link, then select the hyperlink tag (globe), and inset your link in the middle of the 2 tags :)

Just got his email (30 minutes after I sent my question)

"Hello!

Nothing else should be done. Money will be added to your account today
evening or tomorrow morning.

Have a good day!

Kelly"

Glad to hear it !  :D

Seems they can be reasonable then !?

Ok, I'll give them a go in the morning... had a very long day, and my eyes are playing tricks on me already. :o
Thanks Stu.

Don't forget to go via the affiliate link :  http://submit.depositphotos.com?ref=1003527

Otherwise you waste their offering of extra cash ;)

I think I'll pass on this one for now ;)

Why, it worked fine for me !!  I've even been paid for uploads of people who signed up through me as part of the affiliate program :)

Just remember to push the Join Program button AFTER you've been approved and BEFORE you upload !!

Then try uploading just a few and give them time to work through their system :)

Go on, give it a go :  http://submit.depositphotos.com?ref=1003527

For those of you who have done this, did you show a balance immediately after the images' acceptance? I uploaded my first 90 a couple of days back- they were all approved but I'm showing no balance. I sent them a message to ask about this  but I thought I'd ask you all first before I get to uploading more. When I go to the PPP section, the promo window reads "already activated".

Thanks!

Yep !  mine was there fairly quickly  ;D

PicNiche Toolbar / Re: PicNiche info required
« on: January 20, 2010, 13:15 »
you're so clever, that's really it! ;D I thought it was the number of downloads....

Just checked that out and it does indeed increase as u add agencies :)

Now answer my question ;)

i mean in the picNiche bar, from left to right, there is the refresh button, then that number, then FT earnings, then SS earnings, IS earnings, and so on.

I thought that might be total earnings !?  Mine is a very small number !  :(  but seems to be roughly the total of all the others ??

also, what is the number next to the FT, SS, etc.? I initially thought of it as the total number of downloads, but it doesn't correspond.
PicNiche is great!! 8)

 ???  what numbers ?

Phrase   L   T   Count   Views   Sales      V/F    D/F    Rating
boat    GB 1.00 94037 142881 21858   1.52   0.23   0.35
FT SS IS BS DT- GI

That's what I'm seeing (roughly), no numers next to FT,SS etc..  ??

Can anyone point me in the right direction for info on using PicNiche, especially how to interpret the results from the 'Keyword Phrase' analyser ??

Phrase   L   T   Count   Views   Sales   V/F   D/F   Rating

What does all this mean !?   :-\

Off Topic / Re: Need your help-what text on my business card
« on: January 18, 2010, 10:00 »
I'm preparing my "stock" business card in different languages. I have some trouble to write English version - my English is very poor. The main purpose is to tempt models and restaurant chefs to work with me. I was thinking about something like this:
Do you need nice photos? Do you want  to immortalize your creation, a special event? Are you interested in modeling for stock  photography?   If your project interested me and we work  together you'll receive images from the photo session for your personal use for free
I'm worried about errors. I'd be very grateful if someone can give me any advice.
Thank you in advance.

change 'interested'  to 'interests'  :)

But then he didn't have the problem in the 24-105...

I think Race's answer for a quality drop due to larger aperture makes sense.

If he's sure it's a circular polariser, then yes :  'from about f11 to about f5.6'  is sure to make a difference (even on a good lens) :)

The answer would seem to be, stick with aperture priority if using the polariser !?

440
Sounds like a Linear polariser problem to me !!   ;)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Shooting tethered
« on: January 18, 2010, 05:08 »
Any of you shot tethered. I never have but was doing research on it and here are a few sites with pretty good explanation and tethering software..

http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2008/archives/1207

http://thephotogeek.com/choosing-nikon-dslr-camera-tethered-shooting-software/#DIYPhotobits

I've never tryed it but I'd sure like the ability to see those images on a computor monitor

I use it all the time, it works well for indoor shots, isolated objects and the like :)

You can buffer the shots until u see what u like, then start saving to Lightroom, which is great  :D

Pentax !!  just as good and you don't pay for the badge !  ;)

I started with fotolia a few months ago, and I find them good because they're very quick at accepting/declining your submissions.  Having said that, their reasons for refusal are less than useless but at least you get to know quickly if you're on the right lines with your work :)

Dreamstime are good too, but slower and only allow a couple of submissions at a time.

Leave IS, SS StockXpert for later (you could do 123 or Bigstock as well)

Ok I'm getting ready to register and I'm not seeing the P.P.P. they talk about that you're suppose to click on to get the promotion. I don't want to go ahead and put my info in if the link isn't there.

It's one of the tabs !  Affiliate and Promotion should be there :)
