But I doubt the theories claiming that specific ports or contributors are treated preferentially. It would be counterproductive to favor ports as whole instead individual images. All agencies have all the incentives to present their best images in front of the customers. Who cares who made that photo?
You're wrong. So wrong...

Lobo's censorship and Kelvinjay's censorship and snooping into our accounts make me sick.
Snooping into our accounts. What do you mean ?
Since Kelvinjay became a moderator, he got access to our private information. On many occasions he has told how he checks our accounts just for "curiosity". Every time anyone has criticized him on the forum, he has quickly deleted the posts. He's one of those people who's made more harm than good to iStock.

Like many others I stopped posting on iStock forum long ago. Lobo's censorship and Kelvinjay's censorship and snooping into our accounts make me sick.
Regarding current credit sales:
On Sep 4, kelvinjay wrote: "These changes have been made with the intention of ultimately increasing sales and earnings for everyone..." and later, on Sep 17 he wrote: "In order to be successful, these changes must be accompanied by an increase in sales volume..."
And here we are, eight months after the new credit system was launched... Isn't it obvious yet that it's been a complete fiasco? There's no simply no light at the end of this tunnel. It's just a dead end.

My numbers are strong for April in photo and video
Strong? In credit sales for photos? Are you sure? What do you call strong?

Maybe it's a loss for some that the forum will be gone but let's put in a prayer that they will get rid of that ubermuppet Lobo in the process.
And kelvinjay as well.

Its hard to believe that 15 years ago, ... <snip> Sincerely, Brad Ralph Senior Director, Content Development / Co-Founder iStockphoto
What a bunch of bullocks. Another unknown name pops out of the woodwork with the usual Woo-Yay rubbish. Who was it last time that sent one of these emails? I can hardly keep track of the list of one-hit wonders.
I don't disagree with your overall sentiments, but he's not an unknown name: http://www.istockphoto.com/profile/braddy?id=97
He's the guy who told us the great changes they were making at iStock were beyond our understanding.

If they become profitable again, the Contributors also earn, and everyone is happy and blessed.
Sadly, it doesn't always work like that. They can always give you a pay cut if they feel things are going too well for you. Remember the time things were getting better and better for everyone, so they proclaimed that it was unsustainable for them to pay more and more just because they were doing well so they gave us a pay cut? And things just got worse from then on.
Did they say that? Wow. Some nerve. Do they think photographers are less gifted in the brain department?
Didn't you know that? How long have you been in this business?

OK Tyler since no one understands what the thread I started is about I am requesting it be deleted thanks.
The best reason to get this thread deleted is because it's a stupid thread, not that we don't understand what it's about.

tips are only a north american thing, in the rest of the world waiters are paid a normal salary like everybody else.
Nope! That's not correct. In some countries tips in resturants is even mandatory by law.

Pixel8,
In response to the private message you sent me:
Do you want your situation to change? Then start working on your own ideas! Stop copying what others have done, even if it's just an isolated object on white. That's not ethical, and it's not good for your karma. Today, you are only able to copy isolated objects on white and some simple concepts like the highlighted texts with yellow/green marker, and the shots of the newspaper headlines. What are you going to do tomorrow? Copying the best photos you find?
Do you want to be a photographer? Copying and selling what others have done is not the right way to learn.

Lighting 101 !!! Seriously!
Sorry, but I'm really tired of people who know nothing about photography and yet they get accepted by stock "agencies".
Everyone has to start somewhere. If you search long enough you'll find a forum post from Yuri asking how to embed metadata into a photo.
That was many years ago, when amateurs and people who knew nothing about photography had a chance to succeed in this business.
I understand you need new members for MSG (many of the old ones have gone), but honestly, are you happy with all these wannabe photographers flooding good work with their crappy and copycat images?
You don't know my portfolio!
You mean this portfolio http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery-1451831p1.html ? Or this one http://www.dreamstime.com/pixelrobot_info ? Mostly copycat photos!

Being accepted by a stock agency doesn't mean that you know much about photography...
That's precisely the problem.

You're wrong! I studied photography several years and long before I joined stock.

w7lwi, did iStock actually threaten to remove your portfolio if you didn't comply with their SEO directive?
Yeah, for us who didn't get the e-mail, can someone verify if there were either threats or incentives mentioned?
No, there were no threats in the e-mail. I guess w7lwi was just saying nothing would make him do all that work, not even a threat.

Seriously, some people make me sick... "MR Jonathan Klein
First, thank you for everything, I joined IS when it was already part of Getty. Therefore you are responsible for everything positive that happened to me and my family through IS/GI. Thanks to you I am free because I am doing what I love to do. I am a full timer here and beside differences during all this time, I got much more positive than negative from your company. Thank you again.
Please, reconsider your resignation, your plan is working, and we are seeing the beginning of the results now. We need you here because you are the person with more experience in the stock industry and competition now is bigger than ever. Many people here, I am sure, will support you. We want to fight competition and we need you as the captain of the boat we are all in.
Mr Klein, we need your expertise and experience to prevail in this business, all of us. Again, please, reconsider your decision. Dont leave us now.
Regards
