Yes I have seen this. I hope it has something to do with my increase in sales. Exclusive here.
If you've had any increase in credit sales of Signature files, it's not thanks to the new carousel.  I can't see how that thing could improve Signature sales.

If your increase in Signatures sales is for subscriptions, it wouldn't be  thanks to the new carousel either. Subscription sales will just keep replacing credit sales.  But that's not an improvement at all.

And if your increase in credit sales is for Essential files, that would probably be thanks to the new carousel.

iStockPhoto.com / Istock is making it even harder for exclusives.
« on: November 19, 2015, 22:43 »
Have you seen the new the carousels?

Under Signatures images:  "Explore Essentials everyday images at our lowest price"

Under Essential images:  "Discover Signature elevate your work with our best images"

Let's be honest.  We all know there is no quality difference between exclusive and non exclusive images. And basically, the difference between Essentials and Signatures is in most cases just a matter of exclusivity vs. non exclusivity.

This carousel is just another punch below the belt to exclusives.

Get ready for royalty cuts at 500px!

In case you've forgotten or just didn't know Mr. Thompson's words:
"Since roughly 2005 we've been aware of a basic problem with how our business works. As the company grows, the overall percentage we pay out to contributing artists increases. In the most basic terms that means that iStock becomes less profitable with increased success. As a business model, its simply unsustainable: businesses should get more profitable as they grow. This is a long-term problem that needs to be addressed."  Kelly Thompson. September 8th, 2010

Money won't make you happy but pretty images will :-) In all honesty I am not sure it's all his fault at iStock. Getty likes to blame him but my guess is they tied his hands.
You forgot all he said? If he had been an honest person, he would have resigned before writing all that garbage on Sept 2010.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Canon T5i
« on: November 12, 2015, 09:43 »
Hi everyone, I recently bought a canon t5i with 18-55 kit lens and also came with a 50mm 1.8 prime lens. I just wanted to know what some professional opinions are on this camera, I'm considering selling it and upgrading to a canon 7D, but i here that the rebel camera's are good  for beginners like myself. I just want to produce the best work possible. Anyone care to help me out, kind regards.
Keep it! It's a great camera.  The only thing that could stop you from making great images with that camera (using a good lens) would be lack of talent and knowledge.

No I think that IStock by Getty is genuinely about to turn things around. I mean Jodi has been to the IStock by Getty offices recently so she has the inside scoop on what is going on at IStock by Getty and things are looking up at IStock by Getty. Can't wait to hear what is going on at IStock by Getty in clearly natural IStock by Getty prose and not through a mouth piece or IStock by Getty press release. IStock by Getty.
Don't think so.  Jodi has always believed all the false promises made by iStock/Getty and blindly supported all their plans however bad they clearly were for us.  So...
While what you say is true, I don't think you understand satire.
Oops! I just did it.  I'm slow today.  :)

I noticed it since July.  They are all there, but not on first page when you search by NEW (in classic view).  Uploading complete series together is probably not a very good idea any more.

62
Um...yeah, thanks for suggesting a possible cut in royalties.

I've emailed them to ask them to clarify but haven't heard back yet.
Selling 10 Signature images at $99 and paying $25 in royalties ($2.50/image) means 25%. That's a clear cut for exclusives whose royalties are above 25%.
These new subscription packages are nothing but cheap credit packs with a different name.

64
Better than regular subscription royalties, but just a little better.  Royalties on at least the 10 images a month package should be paid with regular credit sales royalties %.

And when signature files of former exclusives are sold, iStock pays $0.28 and keep more than 97% on such sales.

Seriously ilbusca, don't be naive.  That 100% scenario is not happening.

70
On the other hand, if the costumer buy the annual plan with 100 images/month at 209 euros/month.

And if the costumer buy 100 S+ images at 2,5$ each for 250$...

Istock receive 209 euros which are about 250$ and give 100% to you.
You are right.  How can we dare to criticize iStock/Getty after all they've done and still do for us?
How ungrateful we are!

Thanks for the link.  Didn't know about this new subscription plan until today.

Also buried in this thread:

So, no real reason for buyers to buy credits, more money for Getty, much less money for us, no RCs. Talking of which, the promised RC announcement in September didn't materialise. No matter, unless they keep us at our previous levels, there's no way I'll hold on to my 30%. I've all but stopped uploading to iS anyway. Only one file uploaded in 2015 has sold via credits, and precious few from 2014. I can't even be bothered to process files I was making anyway for 75c, far less spend time or money.

With this new subscription plan, credit sales will completely disappear very soon.  Being at 25% or 45% won't be important any more.  All exclusives will be getting nothing but subscription royalties.

Enough!  >:(

This subscription plan would definitely kill the few credit sales we still have.

It seems to be available in UK.  Anywhere else?
